My own experience with phages:

> Re "Floraphage" sold as a prebiotic:
>
> Interesting... I didn't expect this to do anything for some reason, but I bought it anyway since I was out of things to try and it seems quite effective for my IBS-D, CFS, and soil-bacteria issues.
>
> Edit: hmm not sure about this actually. Effects either wore off fast, or were due to something else, or require an accompanying probiotic. Currently taking it with prephage. Will update.
>
> Edit2: Seems to only work as a combo with another probiotic. Prephage + floraphage + b.coagulans ProDura is helping a lot. Prephage might be the biggest help.
>
> Edit3: It seems to matter very much which meal & probiotics I take it with. When I take it in the same meal as culturelle & biogaia gastrus it seems to inhibit them, but when taken in a separate meal it does not. Interesting considering the claim is that they do the opposite - boost the effects of probiotics. They probably boost certain kinds/strains only.

>I was hoping that since phages work similar to antibiotics I wouldn't have to keep taking them, but with the kind in these US products it seems you do have to take them indefinitely.

>
> ---
>
> I found some other phage products by searching "phage" on Amazon. One is "TetraPhage", and the other is "PreforPro", but they both seem to have the same phages: LH01 - Myoviridae; LL5 - Siphorviridae; T4D - Myoviridae; LL12 - Myoviridae.

> Floraphage is the same stuff as well. From their website: "Floraphage is a blend of bacteriophage species". They don't name the species on their site but I emailed them about it and they confirmed these are the only phages currently allowed for supplement products. All phage products in the US contain the same 4 phages.

I have not tried the HMF neuro but the megasporebiotics was great.

To get greater benefit, you might considering adding a prebiotic that contains macrophages that directly attack and kill viruses, bacteria and yeast in the gut.

Prebiotics, by definition, are anything that promotes the growth of good probiotic species in the gut.

Some prebiotics are plant derived (short chain fatty acids) that feed good bacteria but starve gram-negative and fugus. You can get them as supplements or just add prebiotic rich foods to your diet. Pectin is a very good prebiotic, as well as a good detox agent (absorbs toxins).

Other prebiotics are based on macrophages that hunt and kill the yeasts and bad bacteria in the gut (but leave the good stuff alone). I'll call them the hunter-killer prebiotics. My experience with them, so far, as shown them to be very effective.

The pre/probiotic I listed in another response on this thread has both macrophage prebiotics and spore probiotics, but since you already have probiotics you like, here is a product with only the prebiotic.

If you add these macrophage prebiotics to your probiotics, it should help them be even more effective by weeding out the bad stuff while replace it with good stuff.

Yes except for this because I bought the kind that you linked and it is only processed in the descending portion of the large colon right at the end which tapers off into the rectum eventually.

Whereas that linked kind is processed throughout. Thats a mistake that I made.

However its not useless, its about as sweet as sugar and 5 calories a teaspoon. The kind I am recommending is more bitter, which can make you not want to experiment to try to make something freaking awesome.

Other than that good, sugar free or sugar reduced metamucil. Sugar is bad.

Everything else is amazing except I can't afford Bimuno right now. It is basically exactly what I use, except I buy my potato starch from a bulk food store, etc. No meaningful difference.

It does make me feel awesome. Even days later.

u/AnxiousHerb · 6 pointsr/CBD

A. Note other's points about Diamond. Don't do it.

B. While I have IBS and use/support CBD, I personally gained higher relief and more consistent digestive improvement with a prebiotic. I take Prebiotin, which has truly worked wonders. YMMV of course.

The inulin and monk fruit I got were on Amazon. The high end monk fruit only takes a pinch, but it is super expensive. I've had it for 6 months and haven't used more than half a tablespoon in total. I also use erythatol, monk fruit, stevia blend that is less expensive. If you want to give this method a try, just be aware that inulin can cause gastro upset, especially if you start in full doses. Even though the scoby should use the inulin up as food, better to be safe than sorry and test it out as part of your diet first. I started with 1/4 of the dose in my morning coffee and gradually increased it to the full dose. I had no ill effects with it doing it gradually like that. Also, I'm not sure how this will effect the end result on the Kombucha, as in how much inulin will still be present in the end product. I will let you know how it turns out. Here are the three links to what I use.

Yes third party sellers can do it. Here's an example.
I believe they have opened it to everyone (I have the option), but it may require an invite. Seller central will let you know for sure.

Edit: I found it. Settings > Fulfillment by Amazon > scroll down to "subscription settngs" and enable.

You make a drink using Ceylon cinnamon (make sure not to use the usual kitchen Cassia cinnamon that contains a serious toxin at just a teaspoon). This potion is so powerful that you'll forget about eating. Start off w/ just a tablespoon of quality c10/c8 MCT Oil and then chase that w/ your mixed drink. Mix the dry ingredients first, and you'll then stir that mix into the liquids. You use the dry first:

- 1 or 2 tablespoons of Hemp protein powder, mixed w/

- 2 packets of Stevia sweetener

- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of Organic Ceylon cinnamon powder (DO NOT USE THE DANGEROUS REGULAR KITCHEN VARIETY)

- (optional) 1 teaspoon of Inulin fiber/sweetener

... Now prepare the liquid portions in a drinking glass:

- a Squirt of Lemon Juice, usually just enough to cover the bottom of the glass

- about 200ml of room temp water, as cold water is harder to mix

Stir the dry mix into the liquids as best you can, and try to drink it while it's still spinning.

It takes about 15-20 min. for it to take effect, but expect a shot of energy and hunger to vanish for a few hours in the least.

I take Prebiotin (prebiotics) and then some high quality probiotic pills my wife buys at a holistic pharmacy.
http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B001RVFSFS/ref=sr_ph_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1463769614&sr=sr-1&keywords=prebiotin
If you have a good health food store, ask them what they recommend. I also have incorporated kombucha and yogurt into my diet.

u/peace-monger · 4 pointsr/nutrition

This prebiotic is kind of expensive, but I swear it works for me, and you can see the other positive reviews it gets. From what I gather, it's not just prebiotic and probiotic, but a live virus that actually targets / kills the bad gut bacteria that craves sugar. I wasn't even expecting it to work on sugar cravings b/c I was taking it for other reasons, but then was surprised a week later when sugars no longer seemed appealing to me.

If I stay off sugar and eat mainly veggies for a week, then my gut bacteria adjusts and anything with sugar tastes too sweet for me, but plain fruit tastes amazing.

u/pepperconchobhar · 1 pointr/carnivore

Here it is. If the problem is in the lower 1/3rd of the colon, this works. If it's higher up, no. The medicine has to get to the problem.

That was in this ketogenic cookbook I bought. I haven't tried it yet but it's natural and no artificial sweeteners like the other syrups

u/alanitoo · 1 pointr/bipolar

I take 300mg of Oxcarbazepine twice a day. And seroquel to sleep. I also take a probiotic (link below) and I seem to have better results. I noticed one of the side effects of depression is constipation so I wonder if that's why having a healthier gut leads to better results.

This lady knows what she's talking about...take a look at the pictures of the stuff she makes and it looks like the real thing!

ketoluna - the Inulin Fiber looks to be the priciest ingredient, the one you use lists Inulin Soluble Fiber as the only ingredient, do you think this alternative is the same stuff when it lists Inulin FOS? If it works, it would cut the cost in half for that item.

u/full_silver · 1 pointr/Prebiotics

What are your thoughts on enriched inulin instead of regular? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001RVFSFS/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

u/hmousley · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Ooh crazy's what they think about me

I only have one add-on item I think!

u/goodguy44 · 1 pointr/HumanMicrobiome

The first prebiotics you mentioned doesn't look like it will get restocked. But here's an another company that has the same exact ingredients:
https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Tobias-Ultimate-Prebiotic-Complement/dp/B01FICESXE/ref=sr_1_6_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1520951526&sr=1-6

BTW I have tried this prebiotics, but I can't vouch for it, but there seems to be some evidence for it.

u/realsneaky · 2 pointsr/HumanMicrobiome

Absolutely I would combine Bimuno with Vivomixx (VSL#3). I haven't yet researched which strains of bacteria feed on the Bimuno. Another prebiotic that I am already taking is inulin, specifically 25 grams of inulin from Jerusalem Artichoke. The inulin disproportionately feeds bifido- strains, if I recall correctly. It could easily be the case that inulin and bimuno are not too different, in which case the bimuno also feeds the bifido- strains disproportionately.

I am actually looking for a prebiotic that increases fecal butyrate levels, because the inulin does not. I would like more butyrate. It's research I have yet to do.
