This seemed like a good option since I'm new to wood carving. I'm hoping to make a cooking spoon with some of the remaining wood.
Pretty sure the bottom boards are red cedar.

I would bet that you can find some 1/4" Spanish Cedar online and then cut it down to fit the rails.
