Also yes, I will hate on beats. They sounds like shit for $100 and anyone who buys them after doing a minuscule amount of research is a fool. The headphones I have suggested will outperform the beats easily for a fraction of the price.

Edit

Also, those who are pushing headphones that they have relied of for years are pushing an outdated product. Audio technology has changed rapidly whether you realize it or not, and the headphones I am suggested are a new product with new technology that outperforms many high quality sets of headphones. I'm adamant that what I am suggesting is the best recommendation for this thread, and literally everyone else is wrong. I have never found a point in my life other than right now where I coud say this honestly, but I am being serious.

I'd like to offer another suggestion: the JVC HAFX40 ($20 on Amazon). They're relatively new, mid-2012 I believe, and the reviews have been stellar. I've been considering getting a pair of high-end IEMs but have been unsure about whether I'll like the feeling of something in my ears, so I ordered these to see what all the hype was about (they arrive tomorrow).

Or checkout the IEM review guide listed on the sidebar and see what you think about the IEMs in your price range.

I'm a side sleeper, and I've had great success with these JVC's

Super comfortable, excellent audio quality. They sit pretty much flush with my ear. they've also taken a hell of a beating over the last 8 months and show no signs of wear.

I haven't read the Wiki, but those are definitely my favorite IEMs for the price. I hope your not sensitive to sibilance because they have a bright almost sharp sound. They calm down A LOT after extensive burn-in. They are raved about by a lot of members on Head-Fi as well. By the way, both of those links are the same model they are just worded differently in the title.>Are these the same JVC earphones recommended in the wiki?

I am confused because there are also these ones there.

Also, are they as good as the hype says? I really can't afford to pay a lot.
Sorry for the stupid question. I am still a newbie.

http://amzn.com/B0079LE43W. JVC HAFX40B IEMs. Comfy, highly-rated sound quality, and they take a lickin'.

I recently bought these earbuds and I love them! The price is right too. (In case someone is wondering.)

Cheap and well built. Good for music if you ever need to listen to it. I listen to podcasts with them. If they don't work out for you, you aren't out much money. These iems also have good reviews on Head fi.

Read this IEM guide if you haven't yet.

Alright so I looked through the different recommendations and picked out a couple of different things but before I buy them I figured y'all should look at them to make sure they are good choices.

Here is what I have picked out

  • IEMs JVC HAFX40B

  • Over Ear Shure SRH440

  • DAC and AMP FiiO E10K

Here is more information in case there is something that would work better for me

  • Budget - $200ish for everything

  • Source - Windows Computers and Android Phone (Nexus 6p)

  • Requirements for Isolation - A lot would be great trying to block out random noises to study better

  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? I will be using the IEMs in public more than the Over Ears

  • Preferred Type of Headphone - Do you want IEMs, full-sized, or on-ear? IEMs and On-ear

  • Preferred tonal balance - I am not sure but probably balanced

  • Past headphones - Never really had a nice pair I usually just used crappy gaming headphones or earbuds

  • Preferred Music - Almost exclusively rap particularly trap

  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - To actually have decent sound

I don't know what he uses, but I got these not too long ago and they work pretty well, they have little anchors that kinda lock them into your ears.

I cannot recommend these enough for $15: JVC FX40

I would definitely look for IEMs (internal ear monitors) instead of ear buds, they're much higher quality. You might want to look at /r/headphones' buying guide or Head-Fi's buying guide for IEMs depending on your budget. The JVC HAFX40B seem to be a well-regarded entry-level IEMs.

HA-FX40. They're solid good for the kind of music I listen to (Hip Hop mostly). I've bought a few pairs over the years now, and they're inexpensive.

The bass and isolation on these is good if you pick the right sized gummies (it comes with 4 sets; the ones that were on by default were just too small for me). The highs can be a bit much until you burn these in.

I need a pair of IEMs for use outside of the house.

Budget: ~120 CAD. That's 92 USD. Budget is somewhat flexible.

Source: iPod Touch 5th Generation, Nexus 5, occasionally my computer.

Requirements for Isolations: Lots.

Public Usage?: They will be used almost exclusively in public.

Type of Headphone: IEM

Tonal Balance: Neutral

Past Headphones: Sennheiser CX 2.00, Sennehiser HD360, Sennhsier HD449, Sennheiser HD558 (The headphones I use at home currently)

Preferred Music: I listen to basically everything, from classical to punk rock, with the exception of pop country.

Location: Canada

I've been looking at the Massdrop for the HiFiMAN Re-00 and from what I can tell that's my first choice as of right now. I'm slightly nervous about the build quality, although considering that they improved the cable and they come with a case I think they're probably find (although please correct me if i'm wrong).

I'm curious about the Sennheiser Momentum In Ear, but don't know much about them so if anyone could tell me their tonal balance and whether you think they're any good or not that would be great.

I'm also curious about the Zero Audio ZH-DX200-CT. There was a thread talking about how great they are , but similar to the momentum's know nothing about them. So if anyone could tell me their tonal balance as well as any information about them that would be great!

If there are any IEM's that I've missed and you would recommend I'd love to know, but if not I just would like to know which of the three above you would recommend the most.

Also just in case I go with the RE-00 which cheap temporary pair of IEMs should I get until they're delivered. The JVC HAFX40B High Quality In-Ear Headphones or the Panasonic ErgoFit In-Ear Earbud Headphones RP-HJE120-K ?

I'm no expert either, but a few years ago in the $25 range the JVC HAFX40 were the best that I knew of.

They were far better than something like JVC Marshmallows or any other cheap IEM in that price range I've ever heard and many people on Head-Fi were raving about them saying they were leagues above the competition in that price range (this was when the HAFX40 were new, a few years ago.)

After a couple years I accidentally put my pair through the washer/dryer, both channels still worked, amazingly, but they sounded like I was underwater lol. So I had to throw them away.

When I bought my replacement pair I was expecting to pay $20+ again, but the black pair was literally $12 on Amazon.

For that price I would recommend them to anyone and the reason I wanted to post here is to recommend them because as far as I know even at $30 you won't get much better quality than these.

But it'd be great if someone would prove me wrong, because I'd love to get noticeably better quality than the HAFX40 for $30.
