What are your objections to the Spin 11? It is designed for student use and meets all of your requirements other than the microsd card slot.
You can get a microSD card reader like this, that works on all computers

I own a few of them and they are great.
Ok cool. I have one of these in my glove box to check my dashcam.

FWIW, i went and got a Type C+Type A connector USB thumb drive/Card reader that uses microSD cards as the nand from monoprice. i pop the type C end in my 6P and transfer files, then pop the other Type A end in my PC to move pictures and videos. once that's all over with, i remove the SD card from the reader and put it back in my tablet. The only drawback is i can't keep the 200GB SD card in my 6P permanently, but it's really convenient having a single adapter that allows me to use my 200GB SD card in all my devices.

I have a similar one that I'll try out when my Pixel C arrives. I'm pretty sure USB OTG is supported out of the box with marshmallow, though, so it should work.
I bought this before I got mine and it works great (no root needed). http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YQM8352?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00
There is expandable storage, but it's probably not as elegant as a built-in SD card reader. You can get an adapter to plug USB mass storage adapters in to the phone. There are probably some compact microSD card readers made for phones you could get. This one looks interesting http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-LDesign%C2%AE-Micro-USB-Charging-Smartphone/dp/B015S7WX7M/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1453394388&sr=8-6&keywords=android+microsd+reader (note, that is a micro USB device, not the new USB Type C. Here's a Type C one http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-USB-C-MicroSD-Reader-113506/dp/B00YQM8352/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=31FMIfrBSJL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=18GYZSSAV8J3KGS0XQYE)
Here you go theoretically anyways don't have it or a USB-C phone so I don't know if it will actually work
You can check those

I used this since my Nexus 6P and now with Note 7, essential item for me. One side is USB.C and the other is regular usb. You stick in any MicroSD and it works for both ports. Stick it into your laptop, transfer files, then stick it in the phone then transfer files. Done.

I mean i own this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015YRD8PC/ref=twister_B015YRD7IA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 but it seems it only works on my laptop (new razer blade), not on my phone.
in the reviews it seems this may work with some phones https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-USB-C-MicroSD-Reader-113506/dp/B00YQM8352
I bought this guy which works pretty well. The little arrow tab ejects, but of course this is for MicroSD. There are plenty of options on Amazon with a bit more bulk that include an SD card reader.
If you already have an SD card reader, you can probably get by with just a USB-C to OTG cable/adapter.
A 128gb nexus costs the same as a 32gb htc 10.

That's a guide to how you can do that with a Samsung device and no app required. If you do by chance have another device and this tutorial isn't for you, I'm sure there's a bunch of free/paid apps in the Play store that can do this. I'll just need to know so I can look it up for you.
Here is a $13 adapter: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-USB-C-MicroSD-Reader-113506/dp/B00YQM8352
That is the USA website. If you do live in another country, just look up USB C MicroSD reader and you should be able to find one
Let me know if you have any other questions
They definitely have micro SD card adapters for usb-c ports.

From the looks of that it is exactly the one that I have and that works on my OP3T (together with an old USB3 microSD reader that I have and any microSD I tested).
I was also tempted to get this but I could not yet find a decent one with cheap delivery in EU:
