Just read this book.

You are asking too much and kind of all over the place. If you want to develop some knowledge about the evolution of social forces and the science behind it, read this book. It'll probably be the best book you'll ever read. This description doesn't do it justice.. this description is like saying Romeo and Juliet - a famous tale, and that's it.. nevertheless,

> The Lucifer Principle is a revolutionary work that explores the intricate relationships among genetics, human behavior, and culture to put forth the thesis that “evil” is a by-product of nature’s strategies for creation and that it is woven into our most basic biological fabric.

Glad to see a mention of memetics here. Not that I agree with him but Howard Bloom wrote and interesting book on this very topic http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0871136643?tag=adapas02-20

What you describe sounds like the superorganisn. I highly recommend, "the lucifer principal". It'll shed some insight into this legit right brain sensation you feel.

Also, there's a great Ted talk I'd like to share but I an mobile. Google a stroke of insight and Ted.

I read Drugs and Behavior: An Introduction to Behavioral Pharmacology 6th ed. for a Drugs and Behavior course. Great for an introduction.

For psychology I'd have to recommend Biopsychology. Had to read this one for Brain and Behavior.

I'll throw The Lucifer Princple in just because I love it.

This is my contribution. I listened to the audiobook a couple of months ago. It was the motivator that brought me mentally from a fairly left wing belief system to a strong red pill right.

There may always be conflict, but it definitely not the fault of humans. It's been in our DNA for a long time. Chimpanzees have all out warfare with one another, and it's been well documented. The Lucifer Principle is a great book about the topic. They bring up many examples of why evil is not purely a human trait.

This discussion reminds me of a book: "The Lucifer Principle" by Howard Bloom

The basic idea is that humans have two basic systems of propagation: genetics and memetics. Both evolved to balance the needs of the individual with the society and created what are the tenets of civilization: knowledge, expertise, and civility. Both are also 'flawed' in the sense that if you knock the system out of equilibrium (technology, environment etc.), the more successful genes and memes are based on selfishness and ignorance.

So, in the sense that the basic goal of a gene or meme is to propagate, the objective purpose in life may very well be to embrace and propagate a very popular and effective form of selfishness and ignorance.

Which brings me to a quote from Oscar Wilde that has served me well to remember: "Everything popular is wrong." Here, 'popular' has a different meaning than 'common'. Editorial note: democracy would work a lot better if everybody was forced to take the time to make an informed vote.

tl;dr: objective purpose is propagation of genes and memes, may not be 'good' things

and human-driven "evil" is an evolutionary push and diversity generator

Heres another perspective from a different angle: Imagine all the different symbols that you have stored in your brain. Car, dog, house, tree, rice, echidna etc being in a traditional relationship with another partner many maby even most of these symbols have an elaborated attachment to take into account another person.

In an individual level when u see a really awesome car your thought process may be something like... oh cool what an awesome car id love to own one like that, or maby even this type of model etc

In a very 'deep' relationship the same awesome car may trigger the thought process... oh cool what an awesome car, id like to have one, i wonder if my SO would like it, I wonder if we could afford it together.

Now think of how intrinsic your SO is embedded into your neurological network. Think of how there is a whole interconnected database of living neuron cells attached all over your brain which causes these thought processes to reoccur after the relationship is over.

You are going through a process of trying to literally kill of or at the very least re ascribe a whole database of connectivity to the core of your psyche. This is fucking painful because for me atleast every time you get another thought that took into account my SO id go through an existential crisis trying to kill off or re-ascribe a small fundamental part of how i think and view the world.

This ellaboration has helped me deal with it, knowing that im seeing into the depths of my soul/psyche and rewiring myself, knowing that with each new 'sad thought' im getting closer to being ok. This is also a time to examine anything else at the fundamentals of who you are in order to redesign yourself if you so wish. Maby you are already a badass and dont wish to redesign yourself? Thats cool, but the opportunity to make drastic life altering changes is here my friend. Take advantage of it if you can.

If you are also struggling. Go and read a book called The Lucifer Principle by Howard Bloom
This book is all about the fundamental forces of life that are a necessary process in order for life to continue doing its thing (Improving upon existing things and inciting innovation). It teaches you about periods of busts and booms, consolidation and expansion, times of depressions and times of prosperity. You are going through a time of depression now and it feels like it really sux but its a great and entirely normal thing with a purpose. Have a read if your interested because this book has changed my life along with his other books too :)

Howard Bloom is actually a very interesting guy: Bloom was the first guy to identify Osama Bin Laden & al Qaeda as a major threat, about four years before 9/11, in his book The Lucifer Principle

I never understood why Bloom wasn't all over the media, in the wake of 9/11...turns out, he was sick (may have been poisoned...). Based on his books, he has a lot of interesting stuff to say...but Joe clearly hadn't read any of his books, and didn't know how to interview him properly, and ask him the right questions.

Instead, we got an old Jewish guy telling us about how he microwaves a pound of frozen vegetables for dinner, every night...

This is the exact idea placed forth by Howard Bloom in The Lucifer Principle. Highly suggested reading.

Quote:"I recognize it...as scripture and therefore as worthless." This is evidence of the false logic that if SOME of it is wrong then ALL of it is wrong. Yet these works teach us not to murder or steal, etc. For those who read this and are tempted to tell me that the Scriptures are the source of many wars, I must insist that the fossil record shows the existence of fang and claw long before the existence of the written word. http://www.amazon.com/Lucifer-Principle-Scientific-Expedition-History/dp/0871136643
