|name|Laurie Anderson|
|about artist|Laurie Anderson is an American experimental performance artist, visual artist and musician. Regardless of the medium, a common characteristic of all her work seems to be the act of storytelling. Laura Phillips Anderson was born June 5, 1947, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, United States. She attended Mills College in California, and eventually graduated from Barnard College magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, studying art history. In 1972, she obtained an MFA in sculpture from Columbia University. ([more on last.fm](http://www.last.fm/music/Laurie Anderson))|

|track|O Superman (for Massenet)|
|about track|One line summary: It's a classic, though many disagree! This track uses very simple music yet succeeds to convey emotion. The metronomic "Ha" vocalisation is too fast to represent a heartbeat, but the theme does seem to suggest that it could be just that - or the heartbeat of a nation dazzled by comic book heroes. The lyrics are interesting too, but you could be forgiven for not keeping track as they're delivered quite slowly.... They seem to tell the story of a naive/wide-eyed populace, swept along by consumerism - not noticing that their tax dollars are being used to create a monster designed to rule the rest of the world. A loving, giving country on the one hand - giving its inhabitants comfort and hope, yet on the other, a mighty war machine which is set to devour freedom. Some say that this is an amazing piece of pop art which has deep philosophical and political meaning. Some say it's eight and a half minutes of beeps and attention seeking. What do you think?|

90% of these were cheaper (some even $10 cheaper) *BRAND NEW including shipping from Amazon. This is not a deal at all, this dude is severely ripping you off and profiting.
/u/watchinglightning and /u/deadbodydisco just look over this list and see what I'm saying. Also, when you purchase from Amazon Smile, it donates to a charity of your choice.
Oh my god, I am STILL MAD ABOUT THIS.
I saved up my allowance ($5/week!) and bought "Science Fiction Movie Themes" because I love soundtracks and the tracklist looked fantastic.
EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TRACK was a techno remix played by one guy on a synthesizer. I have never been so disappointed in my entire life.
Ride Like the Wind. [By Christopher Cross] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNOn6enPC7U) or sometimes the [Robin Thicke & Will Ferrell version] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy3n8IzR178)
The Top Gun Soundtrack. "Mighty Wings" by Cheap Trick, "Hot Summer Nights" by Miami Sound Machine and "Destination Unknown" by Marietta especially.
"Holding out for a Hero" - Bonnie Tyler. "Work B*tch" - Britney Spears. "I'm Free [Heaven helps the Man]" - Kenny Loggins.
Going to 70s/80s soundtracks: The Rocky Story. "No Easy Way" out by Robert Tepper especially. Two songs off the Transformers: The Movie soundrack; "The Touch" and "Dare" both by Stan Bush.
Yeah totally, their live performances are intense. Please do, have you seen them often live? I've seen them three times now including once on their Heima tour, pretty much some of the best concerts I've seen.
Just throw The Commitments: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack into the CD player. The whole album is sexy.
Better yet, watch the DVD first. Then play the CD and get it on.
>"The rhythm of soul is the rhythm of riding" - Jimmy Rabbitte
Well this sucks... I lost my hard drive a few months ago, and only had a back-up from a few years ago. I thought it would be on there but it looks like it wasn't. I'm super bummed. Sorry to over-sell! Although this is a great excuse to watch it all over again...
*edit - Okay so this album is an excellent start. I'm also going to go through here to see if anything pops out at me that I can remember.
There are a lot out there. Tribe and De La Soul are obvious...after that I'd say Steinski, Coldcut, or Jurassic 5.
As for specifics,
Steinski - What Does It All Mean?
Steinski - Nothing to Fear
Coldcut - Journeys by Dj
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Jurassic 5 - Jurassic 5 EP
And finally, one of the best uses of jazz and hip-hop:
Digable Planets - Blowout Comb
Definitely check What Does it all Mean? and Journey by Djs, they will change the way you think about Hip-Hop and pop music in general.
great! I recommend TNT it's more minimal than their others, but it's my favorite.
I not only had that CD, but I also had the Superstars of Wrestling one with Mr Perfect, Macho Man, Hogan, Boss Man...
MUSICAL GENIUS for my 12 year old mind.

EDIT: I was 16, apparently. I find that hard to believe, or my pride wants to tell me the year of release for that is incorrect, as the cover I had was different then that (with the same songs).
Scrubs Never seems to get old, at least for me.
Really? This took 2 seconds to google.
