Are you making a veil because bridal salon veils are ridiculously expensive or because you really just want to DIY your own veil? I also considered making one because I couldn't fathom how a piece of tulle could go for $100+, but after doing some more looking, there are some really affordable ones online and I think I'm just going to save myself the time and effort by buying one. I found a cathedral length mantilla on Amazon for $26.50 with good reviews:
http://www.amazon.com/Topwedding-Cathedral-Length-Wedding-Appliqued/dp/B00M2ULK6E/ref=sr_1_24?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1457557864&sr=1-24&nodeID=2474936011&keywords=mantilla

I think that may be close to what you'd spend to make your own in materials cost. There are other ones on Amazon as well, but that one just happened to be the first one I came across. Alternatively, you can buy one of these Amazon veils to act as a base for your own decorating if you were hoping to DIY something so that you don't have to worry about stuff like measuring and cutting the material to the right shape and length.

I was late to yesterday's thread (West coast!) so I'm just going to check in here again today!

I'm putting together an Effie Trinket original Halloween costume...
I am not good at creating outfits! I either go way too matchy matchy and don't realize that you can add in other colors, or I'm afraid of being too matchy matchy and it ends up all over the place. Here's my plan, I'd love feedback on the whole outfit, how the dress will look, any extra tips?!

This dress with these glued on, not all over... thinking in a bunch on top left then spread out across torso, with more sporadic placement over the skirt.

These shoes or possibly these shoes but I feel they need an added something... ideas?! (I'd wear heels but I'll be spending halloween with my toddler at a pumpkin patch!)

These gloves

Umbrella?!

These arranged in the wig as some sort of hair piece although if anyone knows of a better butterfly head piece option...

Thanks!

Isn’t it funny how periods always just KNOW?! Mine always adjusts itself so it comes smack-dab in the middle of something super important. Ugh. I’ve seen a lot of brides use a “bridal buddy” and have a much easier time going to the bathroom in their dresses (I’m a wedding photographer). Basically it helps you gather all the fabric from the underside of your dress. Might help things go a little smoother for ya?

I got these bad boys for my hands, just like the woman in the tutorial. and that is a really good idea! Personally, I think the silver added something more than black or white would have. But my dress was completely black. So I needed SOMETHING that wasn't. I used quite a bit of water on the sponge. The darker grey was really difficult to use and blend with the lighter grey. But I did my best. My friend had a pretty incredible contour... But we were in a bit of a hurry so I didn't stop for his picture.

Amazon is going to be your best bet like this if you search beaded veil you’ll find something you love!

I bought mine on Amazon! It was this one in the white/fingertip option but it says they have a cathedral.

Just check any you buy are marked “free returns” and you can buy a few different ones and return what you don’t like

From another Marceline cosplayer, satin gloves like these will probably look better and be more comfortable. If you're okay with ordering something online--I've never seen yellow ballroom gloves at any physical store.

I'm feeling sparkle belt, sparkle headband, solitare sparkle necklace.

Maybe elbow length satin gloves with fingers, without fingers, or lace with fingers, lace without fingers, or lace through fingers.

Maybe a faux fur shawl

I purchased my veil from Amazon and it was PERFECT. I was hesitant, but it was beautiful and under $35! jjrobin2019

I bought this one! For $18 this veil is amazing! It was the wrong color though so I'm thinking of dying it more Ivory with tea. I posted a photo to my Amazon review too. But I really love it!

Sure, it's this one. My dress is really heavily beaded so I didn't want something too over-the-top. I would definitely recommend getting it steamed though!

u/rositabug · 10 pointsr/weddingplanning

Personally I would go with a single layer plain tulle cathedral veil like this. Beautiful dress!

u/thesneakywalrus · 1 pointr/HelpMeFind

Outside of standard latex-style gloves, I can't think of any sort of glove (touchscreen or no) that's designed for warm-weather use outside of something utilitarian like gardening gloves or driving gloves.

EDIT: Well, driving gloves seem to be the ticket here.

Here's some rather cute ones that look thin enough

I bought this Amazon veil in ivory and am very happy with the quality. Looks and feels just like the nearly $300 one at the bridal shop.

Sorry, I don't know what 'Care to Share' is, but I suppose it means you bought a used dress for a good cause? If you actually realize that your train isn't long enough, you can always order an additional, detachable train. You will find quite a few offers on

I got a two tier, cathedral length, raw edge veil from Amazon for $12 and its fantastic.

EDIT: LINK It's $15 now, but was $12 when I bought it....
