I have a set of Polartec base layer. I couldn't find it b/c I got them in 2004. It's similar to this. It's not tight like leggings, but somewhat looser. As a base layer by itself, with shorts and a tshirt it won't provide adequate warmth in lower temps (think 20 degrees and lower. With other clothing on top like midweight clothing it's great. UA is good, but there are other brands that do just as well and are just as durable.
The male leggings are pretty good. I wouldn't wear them under shorts though. I'd wear a midweight pant if it was that cold.

Amazon has some low cost, but decent quality thermal underwear. They will help to trap heat close to your skin and keep you comfortable.

You wear these under everything else so you want a tight fit.

2015 and 2016 were rough for me during winter since I hadn't been diagnosed yet. I spend a considerable amount of time outside at work. And I didn't want to crank the heat in my home and toast friends/family so here's what I used to cope:
I got a nice warm down comforter for my bed.
A heated throw blanket to use around the house.
Zippo hand warmer for times outside.
And thermal under garments. Top. Bottom.
I've also had a Presto heat dish for a number of years. I think I paid $60 at Costco but the going rate seems to be double that now. It's nice because it directs the heat at you rather than warming an entire room.
Thanks for sharing. I'm interested in a hooded merino longsleeve, such as this one. But it doesn't state a UPF rating and there isn't much selection.

YEAH! I would have never figured! I just lost 50 lbs and I have to always have a jacket with me now. Glad to see that this is a common problem.
I have recent figured out that thermal base layers are a life saver. They hide under most clothes easily. That has been my trick to keep warmer.

Most comfortable item of clothing I have. They don't look "slim" but if you've got weightlifter legs then they'll be pretty snug fitting, but still stretchy and comfy af.
My favorite lightweight thin long sleeve shirt can be found at costco - https://www.amazon.com/32Degrees-Weatherproof-Thermal-Shirt-Sleeve/dp/B00NWHX27Q
It's thin, lightweight, and very comfortable. It's also cheap and at $14 per shirt you can afford to buy two a year at your $140 per shirt price.
Duofold makes very similar gear to Under Armor for a lot cheaper. These are usually what I wear as a base layer. For me, these are good for temps in the 20's- 30's F. When it dips down into the teens or single digits I throw a Smartwool shirt and a pair of jogging pants on over the top

They also make them in heavy weight, but that would be overkill for the temps here.
This is highly recommended. Just remember the key to staying warm is layering. just putting on an extremely thick coat isn't really that effective.
It's just a Hanes thermal crew
