If you're in the states, look for [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Morton-Lite-Salt-Sodium-Table/dp/B0005YM0UY). It's cheaper if you've got a grocery store that carries it. This has your potassium as well as a a little magnesium, but I don't think the magnesium is that physioactive. It helps me a LOT more than the salt that I used before. Just add a bit, I've heard between a 1/4 tsp and a full tsp, to your bottle of water and, if you want, add some vitamin fortified water additive, like [Mio] (https://www.amazon.com/Mio-Vitamins-Tropical-Naturally-Sweetened/dp/B01I5RHUPM/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1497978718&sr=8-1&keywords=mio%2Bwater%2Benhancer%2Bstevia&th=1). I like this one with the stevia and the additional B vitamins. It's a wonder drink for me!! But, if you're feeling ok, then go with what's been working for you!
>Anyway... I just started keto today. I'm not sure if I should be counting total carbs or net carbs. Today I consumed 18 total carbs, 8 net carbs. So when I read to stay under 25 carbs, is it total or net? Which do I need to be more concerned about?
Definitely count net carbs. So stay under 25 net.
>I understand that once my body starts going into ketosis I will probably feel "tired" and "light headed" from what I have read.
That happens if you lack electrolytes (particularly magnesium/potassium). So just make sure you get lots of fluids! Especially if those feelings set in, some people will do a broth, but I find having some powerade zero on hand is useful, or the powerade squeegy thingies so that you don't have to go home and cook anything if the feeling sets in.
Friend of mine turned me onto taking a nice cold can of soda water and adding a shot of these little flavor pod things.. it's amazing.
I wanna try these though! jelly bean soda!

Unless you have any of the symptoms (see the FAQ for these), you needn't worry. The best thing to do is buy a one liter water bottle - something like this and carry it with you wherever you go. I use water "enhancers" like these to keep things interesting. And when about once a week I take the whole thing apart and scrub it out with these brushes - especially the straw part - to keep everything sanitary.
Edit: Disclaimer - I'm not recommending you buy these specific products; I'm just showing what I bought. Anything similar to this works just fine. This is not an advertisement.
With a good meal plan, it becomes easier. If what you eat is planned, you wont let your empty stomach dictate what you're eating.
If I were you I'd look into a high protein diet. For breakfast: One whole egg, 2 egg whites, 3oz of sliced turkey, slice of cheese. Add any veggies you want to the mix. Lunch would be a chef salad, heavy on the egg and ham/turkey/etc. For dinner I'd try 1 or 2 4 oz lean hamburger patties with cheese slices on top, with some sort of vegetable. (I prefer broccoli and drown that shit in mustard. Google broccoli with mustard. Theres lots of good reading available)
Before you eat, drink a 16oz glass of water. One, you probably dont drink enough water. Two, you probably still dont drink enough water. And three, it'll help you get full faster. The high protein will keep you full longer.
As for snacks between meals, its one of those things I have to do. I'll eat one of those kelloggs fiber plus bars around 10am, another around 2pm. (Who couldnt use more fiber?)
Look at the dasani water flavor bottles. These things are like supercharged koolaid packs. Amazon linky.
Talk to your doctor about some sort of appetite suppressant if you really feel like its a problem that you cant tackle yourself.
I'm doing low carb anyway so I'm trying to avoid sugar. So I haven't tried any actual syrup.
I mostly just do carbonated water, but my wife bought the Mango one of these at a store somewhere and I liked it a lot.
Also sometimes I put sugar free Mio in it.
Dude, Ive been buying the crystal light liquid drops and keep them at my desk. Ive saved tons of money not buying a drink at lunch. One bottle is like $2-3 and lasts over a month! I even keep them in my purse :)
Mio and even powerade have drops too!! No need to waste $$ buying drinks for lunch!

There are tons and tons of options for these in the grocery aisle!
Regardless of which recipe you use I recommend getting some True Lime (crystallized lime powder). https://www.amazon.com/True-Lime-Bulk-Pack-Count/dp/B004RZA6XA
If you want to buy it for $82 from a third-party seller on Amazon today is your lucky day!
If you look on amazon, there are a few squashes you can have made with stevia ( 100% keto friendly ) very pricey though https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sweetleaf-Water-Drops-Raspberry-Lemonade/dp/B078YKXHCF/ref=sr_1_11_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1536432378&sr=8-11&keywords=carb+squash
I’m almost positive you guys have something similar. Go to your grocery or liquor store and look in the mixers section. Wherever you would find club soda. There should be some sort of flavored club soda or seltzer. Check the nutrition and ingredients. Should be nothing but water and natural flavor or essence. If not order something like this and make your own. You can just add it to pre made club soda.
I know I put this link in a comment to the OP, but seriously try this stuff out. http://www.amazon.com/True-Lime-Bulk-Pack-Count/dp/B004RZA6XA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395080985&sr=8-1&keywords=true+lime
I got bulk boxes of the lime, grapefruit, lemon, and orange. It's seriously the best stuff ever.
Powder is so 2010. Level up and get the concentrate in the squirty. So much easier to deal with. Can toss one in your bag for the day, give some to strangers, and never have to deal with clumps.
Like this. I usually have at least 3 different flavours on me at any given time. The Tang one is usually one of them.
citric acid, stevia, this stuff
I'm addicted to Mango Peach Mio in my iced tea (I just add a little to the glass before I pour) although you may not want the mango flavor in addition to the peach.
