For nyc I keep my outerwear to four styles:

JCrew 2011 icon trench coat for spring/fall or when it’s above 50 degrees.

Denim jacket: mainly for the summer to be worn with dresses and such that are sleeveless

Cashmere/wool jacket: I’m currently using this camel coat from Calvin Klein for winter when it’s not snowing or raining

Parka: this is for when it snows or it’s below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. I look like a black puffy marshmallow but I am always warm.

I like to change up these outerwear pieces with different material scarves. Ex) my Burberry scarf in the winter but then switch to something like a silk or linen lighter scarf in the remaining seasons

Look for the Nanette Lepore Skyscape coat, that might have the right feel.

Here's a brocade version and a plain black one

also this weird embellished one might be useful for something.

Edit: I also feel like this would be something that Alexander McQueen or McQ would do, so check their things, as well, and find out who knocks off their things and look through their pieces as well.

Wool socks are about the only thing in the price range that I would feel comfortable asking for. But iif someone is feeling generous then this tartan wrap and this sweater.

If you don't like any of these, I'd recommend searching for asymmetrical wool coat or collarless coat. You'll find a lot.

It looks like the modern take on a cocoon coat that's popular now. I couldn't find the exact garment, but you can see similar garments here and also here. I found them by searching for "grey wool cocoon coat".

Any other information on where you found the picture? Might help to narrow the search...

I have this coat and I love it. The inside of the sleeves is the lighter grey shade so you can roll them up for a slightly different look. Nordstrom is sold out but it looks like Amazon has it here.

I have a Need for a new coat, honestly. I do NOT want to spend another winter bundled up in a ski jacket lol! I've been eyeing this one because it's (mostly) in my budget and look really comfy (plus it has a hood!!)

found this/this but i feel like jcrew has done one like that in previous seasons so you could try poshmark or something

GF grew up in Dublin and was pretty impressed when I got her this for Christmas:

100% Irish Merino Wool Double Collar Aran Knit Coat by West End Knitwear

So, the coat in your first image is actually a wool coat with leather trimming by Andrew Marc, and it's on sale! It still costs a small fortune, though. Here's a similar looking coat with smaller price tag, but only in size 4. Looks like Andrew Mark has a less expensive line with a similar coat as well - see here. Finally, here's another similar style.

u/groovyfinch · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Unless you're really in love with the fastener at the neck, I think you could find something similar to the second coat for about half that price. 1 2 3

Suggestions for a new fall coat that's comfy yet can be dressed up or dressed down! Budget: $50-100

I've been looking at styles like this and this :)

[Found this on Amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/Jessica-Simpson-Braided-Placket-Outerwear/dp/B00VBAD38E/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1449713909&sr=8-20&keywords=pink+wool+coat)

It's not an exact match, but a quick switch of buttons and adding a flower pin could make it pretty close!

Nordstrom-
Steve Madden hooded green coat $99

6PM.com- Cole Haan Teal Wool Plush Asymmetrical Belted Coat $250

Amazon- Calvin Klein Peacock Boucle Wool Coat $120

most of what I found was either hunter green (would you consider this coat?) or bright blue.
