I can tell you from personal experience that Torani syrups was a game-changer for me. I use Rich Chocolate keto chow almost exclusively (and love it as it is, but wanted more variety), so anything that goes with chocolate has been awesome.

I started with sugar-free Vanilla, Caramel and Raspberry syrups. All of them are awesome (Caramel is my new daily "breakfast" shake and Raspberry is my "lunch shake"), and because they work so well, I just ordered Orange, Black Cherry and Peppermint. The Peppermint works very well and the Black Cherry is subtle without being overwhelming. For measure, I'm using two pumps per 28oz Blender Bottle.

Pumps I use: here

Syrups I use:

Vanilla - Caramel - Raspberry

Peppermint - Black Cherry - Orange

Also, it really helps to let the shakes sit overnight in the fridge before consuming to ease up on the saltiness. That seems to "mellow" them quite a bit for me. Pull one out after chilling overnight, pump your Torani into it, shake shake shake and enjoy.

As always, your mileage may vary, but I've had great success with the Torani syrups. How I didn't think of this months ago, I dunno, but I wish I had!

It's a safe bet that he does do a second ferment. I like to use fruit-flavored sugar syrups instead of cut fruit or granulated sugar. I make my own syrups, but an exotic storebought one like prickly pear or elderflower or blackcurrant would be cool to get as a gift.

I really like the suggestion of a pH monitor or pH test strips too.

A six-pack of small swing-top bottles so he can bottle his kombucha and give it away as a gift would be cool too. I'd like to give more away to people who are interested, but I never get around to buying more bottles.

EDIT: To add on to /u/zerker6, jaggery (Indian) and piloncillo (Mexican) are two exotic raw sugars I've used for my second ferment - if you've got an Asian or international grocery store, you definitely have more options for sugar. A strong British black tea such as PG Tips, UK-imported Tetley, Yorkshire Tea, or Typhoo could also be interesting.

Hey again,

I'd like to expand on his advice since I was the one who helped calculate your macros to begin with :)

  • Whether you decide to count calories or macros the same concept applies. Calories in vs Calories out. If you consume less calories than your body needs you will lose weight. Macros are made up of calories (1g of protein/carbs = 4 calories & 1g of fat = 9 calories), so if you're counting your macros you're technically counting your calories as well.
  • The only downside I see to counting calories is if the ratios are extremely off. For example, all calories solely coming from carbs and not enough protein is consumed. However, I'd like to point out that the breakdown I gave you (40/40/20) is simply a guide. If you are slightly off, or have pizza once a week, you'll be fine! The goal should be to hit your macros 80% of the time (I shoot for M-F at a minimum).
  • As far as protein powder goes, you can't go wrong with this. This is a great value protein and you can choose to either drink it straight up, make a smoothie/shake, or eat it! (I prefer to eat it).
  • One of favorite things for breakfast is a simple 3 ingredient protein oatmeal. I put a 1/2 cup of quick oats in the microwave with 1 cup water. Cook 1 1/2 minutes, once it's done I mix in 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder. The secret to making it taste good? Walden's Farm Zero Calorie Pancake Syrup.

    Hope this helps.

I'm wondering on behalf of my sister, HelloBatman, (who isn't on right now but loves this sub!) I've gifted her a couple times because I'm her big sister and had some spare cash for stuff I already promised to buy her but other than that has only been gifted once since she joined us. She's super lovely, and she'll probably scold me for asking if she'd be okay to join in on this contest because she won't feel like she should but I thought I'd inquire regardless c: Thanks <3

edit: I'll edit in some of the requirements just in case this is okay c:

"Micker" - someone who always complains about never having any money, but always seems to come home with or brag about a recent, frivolous/pointless purchase. i.e. "They're such a micker, I hate it"

I think she would love this Eggnog coffee syrup or a few items from her hama bead wishlist

Torani sugar free pumpkin pie syrup is amazing!

https://www.amazon.com/Torani®-Pumpkin-Syrup-Sugar-Free/dp/B002TW7438

  1. Make coffee (put ice cubes in it to cool if you want an iced version)
  2. Pour heavy cream into a bowl. I do a half of the amount of coffee if I want it super creamy, or just a quarter if I want more coffee taste.
  3. Pump 2-3 of the Sugar free syrup in with the heavy cream. Whisk them together until bubbly. Taste, add more syrup if needed.
  4. Pour cream mixture in with coffee and stir. Top with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.

I think it's better than Starbucks.

To this day the best flavor addition I've had to a berliner was woodruff syrup at a local german market. Added to the glass at time of pouring, and it was a very good local berliner. Amazing combo, and my wife who hates sours, actually loved it as well.

Edit: In my search for different brands of woodruff syrup to purchase I stumbled across several German threads indicating that berliners are meant to have sweet additions as they are considered women's/youth drinks. Haha, I don't care, I'll drink that ish all summer long. Its freaking delicious.

Morning... it's already 70 out and expected to get up to 90 today. New Hampshire is not prepared for this.. I am not prepared for this. It's muggy and I can literally feel the pressure of the upcoming rain. Ick.

On a new topic- I have almost no appetite this morning. I made up my normal breakfast of pepperoni, hardboiled egg and half an avocado and ate the egg, one slice of the avocado and a couple of slices of pepperoni when I realized that I just wasn't hungry. Yay for being back to that part of Ketoing, I guess-- maybe I'll see a bit more losses on the scale with the lack of caloric intake as well. I'm still doing fantastic on my water consumption though, at the very least I'm getting 110 oz every day before 4 pm and then I don't really track the water after that, but I'm sure it's about 20-30 more oz before I head to bed. I am in the bathroom so much it's not even funny, but I have cut down on just about every other drink now- I'm down to 2-3 cups of coffee throughout the day (In the am with HWC, and then black during work- If I'm looking for a treat after work and I don't have any halo top, I'll do up a fancy coffee with creamer, a flavored coffee, and some no carb, no sugar, no fat latte foam that I picked up pretty cheap at Walmart.)

Its just me and my daughter this week- my boys went down to Mass to help out their grandmother (dads mom) with some youth soccer stuff and to finalize some college paperwork for the oldest kiddo. It was so weird seeing them set off to drive 100 miles away on their own, knowing I wouldn't see them again until Saturday. I guess it's good prep for college though. The girl and I will probably have another "ladies night" tonight- last night we went grocery shopping, Pokemon Go'ing then home for "The Princess Diaries" and "Supernatural". I'm hoping to get her out for a walk today after I get home if it's not excessively muggy and icky. I'll walk in the rain- that's fine but humidity will cause a migraine and I'm just not having it.

Other than that- It's work all day, some homework sprinkled in when I can. Have a great day all!

I hope Cheesecake Factory does something better, but I’ve worked for 2 bigger named chains and our recipe was this: Minute Maid lemonade with about 2 Tbsps of this flavored syrup Monin - Strawberry Syrup, Mild and Sweet, Great for Cocktails and Teas, Gluten-Free, Vegan, Non-GMO (1 Liter) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071ZRDYJD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_aoJxDbTDWYGYF

I bought these for stocking stuffers a few years ago and never actually handed them out because I love them.

They really helped me curb my intake. When they click, if I want to pour more, I can't fool myself into pretending that I mixed less than I actually did.

My go-to is the Kirkland vodka, seltzer water, mixed with elderflower syrup, costs me about $0.82/drink, or $1.08/drink with a doubleshot and I want to feel fuzzy.

Alternatively, Kirkland rum (14.99/1.5l) and mug cider (Ziegler's cider @2.49/gallon, 2 cinnamon sticks, 1tbsp nutmeg/ground gloves/allspice in a soak pack) makes for a strong, cheap AF fall/winter drink that feels like a snuggle in a mug.

u/Sarabelsam · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

I don't know of anything like this that is premade, but you could buy a sample pack of coffee flavor syrups online, and order some empty perfume sample vials, maybe? you can get 100 vials for $15 here and you can get the flavoring on amazon. You'd have to do a little work to put them together, but it could be really cool.

Otherwise... good luck in your search!

u/redbirdrising · 11 pointsr/ketodrunk

Super simple:

3oz of your favorite whiskey/bourbon

1.5 oz fresh lemon juice

1oz Monin Sugar Free Syrup

Shake with crushed ice, strain into a glass with ice cubes. Delicious!

The best thing I had lately, was hibiscus flowers stuffed with a little goat cheese, drizzled with a little honey, and sprinkled with crushed pistachios on top of the cheese. These make beautiful little flowery appetizers and are absolutely delicious. I second the idea to make your own. I get fair trade cocoa powder from Whole Foods and use it with a little sugar and milk. The cocoa powder seems to dissolve better if you heat the milk in something else then pour a little into your cup, sprinkle some cocoa powder on top, pour milk, sprinkle, pour milk till you're good on cocoa powder. Something about getting to relatively evenly wet with something warm helps keep it from clumping and just never unclumping.

For pre-made mixes I really love Starbucks hot chocolate. I'm pretty sure it's just cocoa powder and sugar, for the most part.

For other "flavors" like white hot choclate I'm partial to Land of Lakes. Fair warning: if you cannot have milk for whatever reason or you're lactose intolerant the Land of Lakes mixes do have milk powder and they're not friendly to lactose intolerant stomachs unless you take some lactaid with them. I learned this the hard way. Don't make my mistake.

ETA: Also for flavors you can just make hot chocolate with cocoa powder, sugar and milk or a basic mix like the Starbucks of TJ's mix and then add flavored coffee syrups. I personally favorite either Starbucks coffee syrups or these off Amazon. I really freaking love peppermint hot chocolate.

I hear you on the Swiss Miss. I asked my husband to get me some hot chocolate last year and I didn't think I needed to specify beyond that but oh I really did. He got a giant box from Costco that will take us years to get through. :(

u/ScariestofChewwies · 5 pointsr/ketodrunk

Sure.

Bitters (Double Pack with Orange and Regular, not in this drink but useful to have)

Low-Carb Simple Syrup

Unflavored Gin should be low carb.

The lime juice is just a fresh lime juiced and the basil is fresh as well.

Soda Water shouldn't have any carbs either. But I used this one.

Additionally, I will start including links for the ingredients I used (if they make sense).

The Austrian company Mautner makes an elderflower syrup that comes in a plastic bottle.

http://www.mautner.at/produkte/details/pp/zeige/produkt/holunderbluetensirup.html

They also make an elderflower-lime-mint syrup.

http://www.mautner.at/produkte/details/pp/zeige/produkt/hugolunderR.html

Additionally there are some other companies that make either elderflower or elderflower-lime-mint.

Getting syrup and mixing it with carbonated water is probably the best bang for your buck.

Looking on amazon.com I found this:

Monin is a brand mainly used for cocktails and lacing teas and coffees, they are good quality.

That pumpkin pie flavor has some mediocre reviews on Amazon, which dissuaded me from buying it. Does it have a strong artificial sweetener aftertaste?

u/daedius · 0 pointsr/tea

I've made this. It's amazing. You can also get it in syrup form on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Monin-Elderflower-Syrup-750ml-Bottle/dp/B004L6DIA8

Prickly Pear Juice. Doesn't get much more Southwestern than this. I like to put in a tea.
