Top Reddit comments about Bike Water Bottle Cages:

u/Spaiduhz · 2 pointsr/bicycling

I had experience with a tri double bottle mounts that go on my saddle rails. The metal bent tube type bottle cages always get bent and launched my bottles at slightly uneven terrain. I switched to cheap plastic cages that use friction to hold them in more than anything else. They scratch the bottles, but kept it secure. Personally, I find them easier to reach compared to the one I fasten on it's dedicated frame mount.

I've also used adapters that fasten around any tube using straps. They unfortunately are shit at keeping the bottles oriented a certain way, they keep rotating on their own. I use those to fasten to my seat tube, and having them rotate to strike my feet gets old, real fast.

I now have a holder that's secured using clamps. They are much more secure.

I use 800ml bottles. They get heavy when filled. Might be why I keep bending my metal tube type cages. But they cheap, so I don't give a rats ass if I scratch them. I now also use side access bottle cages. Feels less troublesome to use than ones that need you to pull your bottles straight up and out.

Disclaimer: I don't work for decathlon. I just find their stuff real cheap, and darn useful for what they charge.

You can use this double barrel cage adapter to add another bottle cage to your frame With this mount you can adjust its location to better fit the frame and give ample space for pedaling.

Im now able to carry 40oz of water instead of 20, with the added bonus of the water bottles being easier to grasp.

u/blargsauce · 1 pointr/bicycletouring

By far my favorite item so far has been a pair of Bushwacker Shasta water bottle holders, mounted on either side of my steer tube behind the handlebars, exactly like the picture in this amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/Bushwhacker-Shasta-Black-Insulated-Attachment/dp/B00724OR4M

Not having to reach between moving legs for water is awesome. Also it means combined with 2 water bottles on the frame I have almost 3 liters of water available without stopping.

u/snackarydaquiri · 3 pointsr/discgolf

I really like these Looney Bin Cages . They were recommended on the dgmods website and I love the one I bought.

u/Aww_Shucks · 5 pointsr/EDC

Cyclist here. CamelBak Podium water bottles are my favorite water bottles used on and off the bike.

I also think the Portland Design Works The Bird Cage Water Bottle Cage looks pretty cool.

u/Flacvest · 2 pointsr/bicycling

They'll work fine, but you need the right cages and the right bottles.

I use a standard bottle with the huge groove about 4/7ths of the way up along with a carbon cage. Here.

To hold, I use an XLAB Turbo wing

http://www.amazon.com/XLAB-1423-Turbo-Wing-White/dp/B005C9BCT2/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1368164431&sr=1-1&keywords=xlab+turbo

Before when I could refill anywhere, I would just have the two bottles on the back. They will not fly out. THe key is to have the nub on your cage that hooks into the bottle's groove.

Now I'm throwing two more cages on the triangle for 4 bottles. Just a setup for people interested.

u/ShmobLife · 3 pointsr/FixedGearBicycle

I put one of these cheap things on my seat tube and it works well enough. It's not the highest quality or whatever.

I have been meaning to try a saddle mount, but I feel I would always be worried about losing my bottle like what happened to you.

The aforementioned hose clamp method seems like it would be pretty sturdy, but a little janky in terms of aesthetics if you're worried about that.

Edit: Reviews indicate you might be better off using the mount with your own bottle cage and not the one it comes with for the Bell holder.

u/mania4conquest · 2 pointsr/FixedGearBicycle

I have this from Elite Cages and it works great for frame mounting. I also like the Road Runner bar bag too.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/bicycling

I use a non-branded thing that looks a lot like that. Holds my curvy Contigo insulated mug nicely, and a Starbucks grande cold cup fits just fine, too.

The Topeak Modula Java Cage is also awesome, but it just barely doesn't fit on my Swift folder.

u/sooth2 · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

I have a hydroflask (21oz insulated), a kleen kanteen (27oz uninsulated), and found a s'well bottle somewhere. they all fit the "zefal classic" bottle cage (chrome stainless steel). https://www.amazon.com/Zefal-Chrome-Plated-Leather-Vintage/dp/B005EFX9K4

here's my kleen kanteen in one

i find the kleen kanteen fits the tightest, they hydroflask 2nd, and the s'well bottle fits easy.

u/highburypie · 4 pointsr/bicycling

Velo Orange makes a great one. I use it on my commuter. Fits both 32oz nalgene and 40oz hydroflask. You might want to put some tape on it if you don't want to scratch the paint of your hydroflask though. https://www.amazon.com/Velo-Orange-Mojave-Water-Bottle/dp/B01498XPNC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1469858047&sr=8-4&keywords=velo+orange+bottle+cage

This is what I’ve been using. Works great, much less expensive than some other models.

u/woodsxc · 3 pointsr/MTB

Consider a bottle cage and a strap. Great items for short rides when you don't need a full pack, just a tube, pump, tool, and a bit of water.

u/therealw00zy · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

I shove my 20oz Yeti into something like this (I'm sure mine cost more like $7): https://www.amazon.com/King-Cage-Stainless-Steel-Bottle/dp/B00A6RGMWW

I don't have a 30oz yeti, no suggestions on a cage for that beast, I think there are probably multiple options for something you can strap it too, I'm not sure anything exists that you can easily slide it in and out of.

possible options here: http://www.bikepacking.com/index/cargo-cages-anything-bags/

u/Last_Rogue · 1 pointr/cycling

Sunlite makes a front rack that fits a six pack well. Throw a bungee over the pack and you're good to go.

You could also buy a growler cage if you buy your beer in bulk

u/anonym0ose · 1 pointr/Velo

Blackburn slick racing $15 and 23g. They hold up well and look good.

u/tony3011 · 1 pointr/Touringbicycles

Sure.

u/ajacksified · 1 pointr/Coffee

I had the same problem with my 21oz, before I bought a steel lid from Kleen Kanteen (this one) - for me, the smell was the lid, rather than the thermos itself. I love my hydroflask.

u/idenTITTY · 3 pointsr/triathlon

I have a TriSeven rack with two cages. I keep my CO2 in the threaded holes in it and a spare tube in between the supports of the rack with a rubber band. I might switch that to electrical tape soon. I usually ride with a pod that holds my multi tool, tire wrench and other parts but for races I can just tape the tire wrench in with the tube.

u/FUBARded · 3 pointsr/bicycling

Could probably attach a velcro bottle holder (designed to be mounted on handlebars, but should work elsewhere with longer velcro) or one of these to your fork blades, although it won't be as elegant of a solution as a bike with fork eyelets.

u/grizzlymann · 5 pointsr/bicycling

I've never been known to have anything resembling a fashion sense. Went with the whole I like green and blue stuff theme.

Nalgene holder. It's expensive for what it is, but it's the only one I could find.

u/cyclistNerd · 5 pointsr/bicycling

They're the Lezyne Flow cages.

u/CaptainBad · 1 pointr/discgolf

I ended up getting one of these:

u/whenhen · 1 pointr/bicycling

You can get a water bottle cage with straps which lets you mount it anywhere on the frame. Here's one such example.

u/thisismybirthday · 1 pointr/birdcharger

It's already been invented for bikes, it could strap on to the long stem of the scooter - https://www.amazon.com/Bell-Clinch-Universal-Mount-Black/dp/B00UQ7P6HE
