My tried and true tanning go to is the Xen Tan self tanner- I have used this for every wedding that I've been in (a lot!) and will also be using this for my own wedding this October. I've found that this brand has the most natural effect for me of any other self tanner I've used (tan towels, saint tropez, fabulous, tanning salon spray tans to name a few! I work with oncology so I avoid tanning beds as much as possible!) and this tan lasts a little under a week. This used to come in a foam with a nice vanilla scent and that one was my favorite, it has a nice olive undertone so it does not leave your skin looking orange! Lately I haven't been able to find the foam so I've been getting the dark tanning weekly lotion, which works just as well. I posted the link below for this on Amazon, but I've also seen this in stores like Ulta. I think the key to this one and probably any other self tanners is to use a tanning mitt, and I like to mix this with regular lotion when applying so it blends in smoothly and dilutes the color a little if you are more on the pale side like me, plus it lets you apply this a little more gradually if you wanted to apply a little each day so you can figure out what shade works best for you. The tanner itself has a tint to it so you can see where you've already applied and make sure you don't have any streaks. Another thing I love about this brand is that they have a tool that you can use to apply this to your back- which is just awesome. After you apply this it takes about 3 hours to set and will gradually get darker, and then you rinse off the "top coat"/excess and you are ready to go! I usually apply this 1-2 days before an event, but definitely practice a couple weeks ahead of time! Another tip I have with any self tanner in general is to make sure not to use body lotions with heavy fragrances as the alcohol in the lotion can contribute to breaking down the self tanner so it won't last as long, plus can end up a little blotchy in some cases!

I hope this helps, and congratulations!

Hey- real life vampire here. Here's my vampire makeup advice, modified for a beginner.

The main thing you wanna focus on here is red, white and black. Make your hair darker, your skin more pale (contour(define)) your cheekbones and put red under your eyes.

Before you start, gather these things:

  1. Clown White
  2. Liquid foundation of some kind (match for your skin or not, doesn't really matter)
  3. Eyeshadow (with red and black and white) or oil face paints (same colors)
  4. Possibly a brown/black eyeliner pencil for your eyebrows
  5. An ashy contour colour (just a brown, greyish color)
    > 6. A contour brush. Some people will insist that you need more brushes but honestly you can probably get away with using your hands.

    Tutorial:

  6. Put on some Joy Division. Mix together some of the clown white and foundation and apply it to make your face seem more pale. Try to make it even, and the consistency shouldn't be too thick. If it is, add more foundation. Also, put this over your lips so that they look super pale.
  7. Put white eyeshadow on your eyelid. Then, take just a bit of black eyeshadow and try to blend them to make grey. The eyeshadow should get darker towards the outer corners.
  8. Take some of the red eyeshadow (on the tip of your finger) and dab it on the lower lash line (not your waterline. don't try to stick your finger in your eye!!!). Smear that downwards so that it blends in with the foundation you have on. Try to make it look natural, like your eyes are really red. After all, you are a vampire.
  9. Use the ashy contour colour and the contour brush to make your cheeks look gaunt. This will help you look more dead. Also, contour your temples. Blend it in to the white so that the lines aren't harsh (you don't need to use that much product, and start in the hairline and work out.)
  10. If you don't have a widow's peak, make one with your eyeshadow and contour. Use the brush for this, and just try to be subtle with it, moving in a swooping heart shape out from the point in the centre. You might need to pack more product in at the hairline.
  11. If your eyebrows need to be defined, define them. You can make them look more evil/intense by adding a dark line along the bottom and then angling in like this. You don't have to do this though, and you could even white out your eyebrows (not all vamps have them after all.)
  12. If you want to, do lines of black eyeliner on your eyelids. You can smudge this if you want, and I suggest only doing the top so that on the bottom the main focus is the red.

If you want any more help/explanations don't hesitate to ask, I could send you more pictures if you want. Here is a picture of drag queen Aquaria with a vampy look: she might be a bit too shiny for what we're going for here, but the eye makeup is a good example (and the expression.)

You can use liquid latex to create scars and wounds, and they can be removed relatively easily and then reused. Here's a pretty good deal on some one ounce is supposed to be able to do 8-20 "applications" so you might not need that much, but I haven't seen anything that really breaks down "applications."

If you don't want to go that route, you can make wounds and scars using toilet paper and elmers glue, but that's not something that you would be able to reuse, so you'd have to create new wounds every night and it's a little time consuming.

Rigid Collodin can be used to create scars when applied to the skin because it tightens the skin and creates the look of scars. Here's some but it doesn't really work for creating large wounds.

And fake blood is always good.

Since it's Halloween, you can probably find this stuff at Halloween shops if you'd rather purchase it in person. :]

I'll also look for some good tutorials for you for making wounds/scars and bruising and edit them in here. :]

For the jewels my jewel wearing friend swears by this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WRMPVX0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_t4NUAb5E921GX

She bought it as part of a little kids jewel kit and swears it’s the best thing to use. I just bought some on her recommendation. She uses it on me for NYE and I partied until 8:30 am with all jewels intact. Read the reviews, it’s what other people use. I liked it because the eyelash glue tends to make me itch, and I’ll scratch my jewels off. This stuff didn’t.

No makeup under!

As for glitter, NYX is the brand most girls I know use, particularly for the face. They either use NYX glue or clear hair gel for the body.

I used Mehron Clear Liquid Latex after doing some research on cosplay forums to see what they tended to use with chalk paint. I only used it to make the grey chalk paint more flexible so that it wouldn’t crack or flake when moving the cloth around a lot. I just mixed a small amount in with the paint—it was a bit of trial and error on some test fabrics before I hit the right consistency.

For the bat emblem, the gloves and the boots I used black heatshrink tubing and was shocked at how useful it was. For the gloves and boots I cut it to the desired shape, slid it over the appendages and then hit it with a hairdryer until it was nice and snug. For the emblem I took the widest bit of heatshrink tubing I had, split it down one side so that it was one flat sheet and then shrank it as much as it would go with the hairdryer. Then I stencilled the bat symbol onto it and cut it out. Heatshrink comes in tons of colours so I have a feeling it’ll be finding its way into future projects in some interesting applications :D

Sorry that’s probably not much help with your project, but hopefully that info is useful to someone. If you plan to paint the patterns onto the costume while it’s on the figure I’d suspect fabric paint or acrylic (with some added latex or “textile medium” to make it more flexible) would be a good bet, using masking tape to mask off the areas you don’t want affected. I would definitely recommend looking into how cosplayers add patterns to fabric; there might be something there that you can adapt for your uses. Please let me know if you pick up any good tips!

I just tried this! I'm brown/dark skinned, I can honestly never tell which since it depends on lighting and the time of the year, but my legs are hella pale compared to the rest of my body. Like so pale they could be considered light skin. I bought this self tanner and a mitt to apply it. I was pretty heavy handed with it and left it on for 24 hours. It looked so good! Left my skin looking nice and brown and finally matched the rest of my body. I'd definitely recommend trying it.

u/ketchupfiend · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

It's pricey but i really love the In-Shower Gradual Tan and the Anti-Ageing Multi-Action Face Lotion. I've read a number of reviews claiming it had no effect, but it worked very well on my pale skin leaving a natural-looking, non-orange, streak-free tan. I think it may work best on paler skins. I also really like this. I always apply it with a glove.

u/RainbowRaider · 3 pointsr/sugarfreemua

I have similar eye shape (down-tilt), under eye circles and that damn crease haha- actually it looks like we have the same bone structure which probably contributes to it all.

I've tried so many products I've lost count- but the ones that I currently use with the most success so far Etude House Under Eye Concealer and Tony Moly Cat's Wink Compact. I use the sponge tip to apply the concealer in a shorter version of a triangle than I've seen in tutorials on my under eyes (Otherwise it looks too obvious), now this is where it gets a bit strange but hear me out: any damn concealer will always settle into those creases no matter what. What I do is tilt my chin down while blending it with my finger so that I'm looking at the mirror from my eyes up, face almost parallel to the floor. Next, try not to tilt your chin up again unless you do a quick dab blending with your finger after, use the compact to pat the powder on, making sure to touch underneath your eyes to check for tackiness which will crease later, next apply foundation/bb cream all on the face and blend to the edges of your now better concealed under eyes/onto of concealer (I do both ways depending).

I find this compact (Because of its use for acne/oil control) seems to help so well in getting the sticky wetness of concealer gone and gives a slight nude finish to help the peach color become natural.

u/Geachh · 2 pointsr/bodybuilding

This is my favorite:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GOZEFP6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Gives you a nice golden glow that isn't tooo "fake". It's aesthetic, trust me.

edit: Apply it pretty lightly, make sure to spread thin, pay special attention to your armpits/serratus area when applying, if the tanning room has sanitizer gel, use on your hands with focus on your fingernails after applying. Other than that, use as expected!

u/dumbassthenes · 18 pointsr/surfing

Because you ruled out the obvious solution:

  1. Tell people you have a strange case of advanced vitiligo.

  2. Accessorize with a jaunty tattoo. Like a dotted line with "cut here" written on it. Or tattoo your entire torso up to your neck so no one can tell.

  3. Draw attention from the tanline using bright eye shadow.

  4. Turtlenecks!

  5. Slather yourself in body paint or mud.

  6. Never, ever, let anyone see you naked.

  7. Quit surfing.

  8. Wear a Mexican wrestling mask in the water.

  9. Coat your face in a thick layer of peanut butter. It's 100% UV effective!

  10. Just accept it, ya boner.
u/gryffen42 · 9 pointsr/bonnaroo

https://www.amazon.com/Glimmer-Body-Art-Glitter-Tattoo/dp/B008O7C5RC/ref=pd_bap_m_rp_26?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B008O7C5RC&pd_rd_r=25832aff-025e-47c5-aa67-339f2219857e&pd_rd_w=LR3UR&pd_rd_wg=HldkP&pf_rd_p=7092fda7-28a2-4e44-9254-b40e2cad6f55&pf_rd_r=VCAGT940ER4FQ9VFSPXM&psc=1&refRID=3805WWNJBE7MZ610XJVN

This is an oil based glue that is designed specifically to only come off when oil is used as the cleanser. This means that sweat doesn't affect it at all and it will keep your jewels in place until an oil is applied to take it off (I use coconut oil and it works great and moisturizes at the same time.) Hands down one of the best products I've found and works for both jewels and glitter.

u/Rayleie · 2 pointsr/ResinCasting

Awesome thank you so much! I'm just starting to watch videos and learn what I can. I am wanting to start attempting to make the exact size and kind of "coaster" you have in this video for Christmas gifts.

So, far I have the following in my "Shopping List"

u/TheFoxes13 · 1 pointr/TaylorSwift

Well, the obvious answer would be Amazon.

Cheap snake rings

Snake brooches

Gold tattoos

Gold birdcage - BONUS! It's a locket.

Studded garter

--

JCPenny has a lot of cheap jackets

Fan made clothing

Patches

I would check out Forever 21 and Rue 21 for high waisted shorts and skirts as well as crop tops.

u/wholovesburritos · 6 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have super pale legs and I use hempz touch of summer lotion. Smells great and doesn't really change the color of my legs, just makes them look.. nicer.

I've also heard about airbrush legs from sally hansen. I haven't used it, so I'm not sure about the difference it makes. These seem like they are different products - light glow, shimmer, nude glow.

I used this. Mehron Makeup Paradise Makeup AQ (1.4 oz) (Red) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KIICOD0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XDItDbQCHTFTE

Funny enough, I also bought yellow because I wanted to do a blend to orange to add a “glow” effect to the seal. Didn’t work out. Neither did my original yellow hair spray. It looked more orange. Ended up using the yellow paint on my hair and got a much better result. Only problem it that it smeared pretty easily.

u/ooopeee · 6 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Maybe you could use temporary tattoo letters they might take some work to remove. But I know that baby oil works very well in taking off temporary tattoos just might take a few scrubs with the oil!! Love the costume idea and it seems you are pretty committed so a little effort in removing them shouldn't be a big deal.

u/brettanism · 1 pointr/ElectricForest

I haven't used it myself (except when it gets smeared on me as a joke) but all my girl friends love unicorn snot!
