I have super, super dry skin. As in, it cracks and bleeds it gets so dry, mostly on my legs. So here's my helpful hint.

First, do a body scrub. http://www.amazon.com/Tree-Hut-Scrub-Hawaiian--Ounce/dp/B0018DAUKI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1332887491&sr=8-3 is my preferred one, because it really scrubs away the dead skin, and it also moisturizes in the shower. And leaves the skin super soft! I'd recomment using a body wash with shea butter in it, if you have one. It does help.

And after the shower, I use a shea butter body butter or lotion, if I feel dried out. Aveeno makes some great lotions that aren't greasy and don't stink, and they work well for me. If I'm super, super dried out, I go for a shea butter body butter - I have one from that Tree Hut brand that I love.

But definitely look for shea butter. You'll know if you use enough because you'll feel the difference. Besides, if you have tiny legs, you're not going to need as much as those like me, who have much larger legs. =)

I've struggled a lot with ingrown hair over the years, but I changed everything up 3-4 months ago and have gotten good success. In pursuit of better shaves and skin I changed razors from disposable mach 3s to a DE safety razor and have gotten good shaves, but changing up what products I used probably have made as much difference. Specifically, I had great success with the cool fix, once or twice daily, and REN scrub 3-4x weekly. Otherwise, how is your shave technique? A few small changes there could make a world of difference.

Hello! Welcome to RAOA :D

Oooh soaps! That's awesome. Do you have a website or anything where you sell your soaps? I've seen Dead sea mud in soap, but never thought about how someone who wants to make it would obtain some >_> maybe this? or here's some Pink Himalayan Salt.

This book and this seem interesting.

I thought this was funny :3 and here's a badass cat!

I watched this video a long time ago and it's my favorite (:

Thanks for the awesome contest :D

I did a ton of research on ingrowns when I started getting them just shaving my legs (ugh). This is what has helped:

  • Exfoliate the area when you’re in the shower. Be diligent but gentle about it. I use this but idk if you should use something else since it’s your face. Somebody else weigh in?

  • Don’t shave with a razor. Get an electronic shaver that will give you a close shave. <- game changer right here.

  • Stridex in the red box after the area has dried and let it dry without putting anything else on it so the BHA has time to work. I’ll slap some lotion on once the BHA has fully dried (this FAB lotion is my favorite for this).

  • Don’t pick or pluck your ingrown hairs out. Only exfoliate and shave them down. This has been the hardest for me because I love the satisfaction of getting an ingrown unstuck but always end up doing more damage than good. And then it gets infected. And then I pick at it more. It’s a vicious cycle.

I’d also take the fungal advice seriously. Ingrowns can get infected really fast and you need to be sure you’re treating the whole issue and not just part of it.

Good luck! I hope it all heals soon!

Edit: here’s a funny comic about ingrown hairs if you need a little pick me up while you’re battling this.

Thanks for the contest :)

Under $10. Body scrubs are amazing and they make your legs feel so good if you scrub them and then shave them. This one is also on my wishlist.

Pikachu backpack. So cute. I love Pokemon too! I do not have this on my wishlist as I have one already haha.

Pikachu iron on.

This is a bonus one, I came across it and it is too funny to not show everyone. Cute, right?

ACK, not the St. Ives. Those walnut shells are variably shaped and can really scratch the skin. St. Ives is generally hated. If she uses an acid exfoliants, she should not use a physical exfoliant anyway. This is the one I was talking about., but again, you should choose one or the other, NOT both. I'd go with a chemical exfoliant, like the lactic acids below, because they can't leave microabrasians.

I'd recommend the Ordinary one if you are looking for a budget option, rather than a random, no name brand. If you want a more luxurious options Sunday Riley Good Genes is a good option. You can probably get the ordinary in Canada for less directly from them, not amazon.

Yes, the hydro boost is great. If her skin isn't super dry, it should work well for her.

Again, I'd go with a more known brand than a private label unknown for a night cream. She can use the hydro boost at night too, but if she needs more moisture (I do, personally), you might need something a little heavier. It's hard for me to recommend a night cream without knowing your budget or her skin type.

This is gonna make you softer than a baby's ass. I'm not even joking. You can get it at trader joes and it is an incredible product.

Any of these if he's in to fruity scents. My personal favorite is the strawberry and god does it smell like strawberries. The key is to layer the body wash and the body butter. If you want long lasting, this'll do it, but you will smell like a walking Lush store for the first like 2 hours.

This is my holy fucking grail. It smells so good. Almond galore. Also, it's phenomenal for shaving. Don't bother getting the body scrub that goes with it though, the TJ one blows it out of the water. I've heard really good things about the Almond Milk Concentrate that goes with it but not tried it personally.

Personally, I think the things that are gonna last the longest are gonna be the TJ scrub (you stay soft for like 3 days), and a body butter. An extra thing you can do is get really fragrant shampoo and then your hair will also smell super nice.

I smashed my face last year when I fell down a mountain. Thanks to the following, my face is back to the exact same with the exception of a teeny scar. Mederma, a tad expensive due to SPF but worth it cuz it was my goddamn face, triple antibiotic ointment linked here but cheaper when purchased as a generic, and Cocoa butter with vitamin E, also available in Walmart/Target places for half the price as listed here. Basically what you're looking for is lotions with vitamin E. I've had luck looking in the "ethnic" hair/lotion/body products section, and there's a whole variety of oils and lotions and rubs. Personally, my favorite is this one and it's usually $2 in store. Bio Oil can be a bit expensive, but a great and comparable product is Africa's Best Moroccan oil, or generic Baby Oil. Again, most of these products are available at Walmart/Target for a fraction of the price. They're all fairly pricey online because of the weight/shipping prices, despite it being shipped via Prime.

Hey I was just going to say...I, too, have very dry areas on my face, to the point my skin starts peeling. And I also have to be careful what kind of exfoliator I use bc they can be too harsh and make my skin break out. I found two scrubs on Amazon that have a smaller, finer “grain”...PLUS, they help even out your skin tone, brighten up your skin, and actually help keep it moisturized too. And they honestly aren’t expensive (especially since you’re not supposed to do it more than 3 times a week...max...so it can last a good long time).

I have used both and can attest to both being amazing. This brand also makes five other scrubs...the Himalayan Salt Scrub should NOT be used on your face but I do like it for small areas on my body (it can sting if you have any tiny cuts or sensitive areas tho). The other four from them (Spirulina, Brown Sugar, Charcoal, and Coffee), I have not tried.

Pomegranate Scrub

Coconut Scrub

If you ever decide to try any of these out, I hope they really help! I know how hard it is to get dry skin under control...

Edit: words bc it’s late lol

I'm not dressing up either but I did buy candy in case we get trick-or-treaters. Let's see...if I picked a costume I think it would be funny to dress up as the super fluffy unicorn from Despicable Me. SO FLUFFY!! Anyway, I would try to find a white pajama onesie with a hood and glue all kinds of fluff to it. I would also probably strap throw pillows around my middle and make pink fabric hooves. It would be the best costume. I'd be warm and cozy (October means 40 degrees or colder at night) and I bet I would get hugs all night.

spooky scary

I would love this scrub! It's a little bit more than $10 but I can reimburse you the extra.

Looking good, brother! When I finally fully shaved my head, it was a truly liberating experience.

Don't use a Bic, pick one of these up as well as some Proraso shaving cream. If you want, you can also pick up an exfoliating scrub as a pre-shave.

I shave my head in the shower and go by feel; I don't need a mirror until after when I touch up my sideburns to make it even. Using warm/hot water, I get my head wet and scrub with my hands, then use the exfoliator and scrub the oils/dead skin off. Rinse. (The wicked_edge subreddit users may wanna look away here) Use about a nickel-size dollop of Proraso on my left hand and lather it up on my head real well. I keep the lather on my left hand and with my right hand, start shaving with the grain. After that first pass, I add a little more water to my lathered hand and lather my head again for the second pass WITH the grain. This is where I go by feel; I use my left hand to feel and my right hand to shave until smooth all around.

Once I feel that I've gotten everything, I rinse off and use a beard shampoo to help get all those shaved bits outta my beard; they tend to cling onto the beard oils otherwise and I just use a bit of extra beard balm to keep it hydrated.

So yea, you may or may not need a 3rd pass since it'd be your first time shaving like this but I've been shaving this way for the past 4-5 years and I rarely need to anymore.

I have been struggling with acne for a while and I found this community which helped me develop a basic routine which improved my skin a little bit, but my skins seemed to stop improving and I hope I can keep my skin healthy.

I would characterize my skin as oily and sensitive.

Current Routine:

Morning

wash with Cerave Foaming, Olay complete all day moisture lotion SPF 15

Night

wash with Cerave Foaming, Acne Moisturizing Cream from dermatologist (0.5% Hyaluronic acid, 0.025% tretinoin)

Occasional use of 2% salicylic acid cleansing pads, 10% benzoyl peroxide acne treatment cream

Here is an album of my face

Thank you so much for your help! Let me know if I should post it in a different thread.

u/nuagebleu · 3 pointsr/traderjoes

have you tried the lavender body lotion? it has a lovely scent and i think i like it better than Midsummer Night's Creme as far as moisturizing goes!

Thanks for sharing your experiences!!! :~)

u/Sharkus_Reincarnus · 4 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I wouldn't even call the example you showed wrinkles--they just look like a natural feature of the face :) But I know finding anything like that on your own face can be alarming!

For emergencies like that, I keep a couple boxes of My Beauty Diary eye masks in the fridge. You put them under (or around, depending on the specific mask) your eyes after cleansing, and after 15 minutes or so, the skin is much plumper, smoother, and more hydrated. The masks aren't too pricey if you only use them once in a while. I have a pair of these on right now and have some of these stocked up, too.

u/sposeso · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

The best belmish/pimple face wash is this, it comes highly recommended in magazines and when I had skin issues (my skin has improved with pregnancy) it is what I used. Also I know it seems like the stupid marketing but that BB cream stuff really is amazing. I don't have to use a whole lot because most of my blemishes are gone, but even a little bit perks your face up and it feels so nice. Also for healing the stuff on your face this line of products really works. I use the concealer with my bb cream and sometimes the powder. I am not a big fan of foundations but that link takes you to foundations. But those are the things that I like the most. Also if the biore stuff isn't strong enough, one thing I use every day is this. Hope this helped, those are all the products I will repeatedly buy because they work for me. I have been through a lot of face issues especially before I was pregnant. Not sure about the spots on your back and chest but would suggest the neutrogena body wash over anything else.

Goat lips!

Today I will be sleeping in most the day. It is now noon here! Yikes and I haven't went to bed yet. Doesn't cost a penny to rest though. When ever I wake up I will check Reddit like always.

My lips are crazy dry, so I could really use this awesome lip balm. I love Canus products for serious.

Thanks for the contest!

I use Dr. Woods Tea Tree Oil Castile Liquid Soap. The entire line is all natural. I just squeeze some on my Salux and scrub away. A bottle last forever and it's super cheap on Amazon.

I have the Salux exfoliating cloth - and I love it!
