Not the op, but I was stuck with the same dilemma until yesterday. So hope this helps.

Basically, the hero4 black is priced at 369 , and hero 5 is at 399. You might find a refurbished hero4black at 289.

However depending on where you buy it from, the hero 5 black is currently having a deal on Amazon and BestBuy, which is very useful if you regularly shop from those places. Both have a 60$ Gift card, and apart from that Bestbuy is also offering a 64Gb Memory card(which sells for 40 on best buy and 75 on amazon).

As for accessories, I bought this pack from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Zookki-Accessories-SJ4000-SJ5000-Camera/dp/B00ZELEKIS/

The cost was 12$ and it contains mostly everything you will ever need. You can also spend an extra 10-15 for other mounts as well.

So Hero 5 being almost the same cost, waterproof out of the box and having a touchscreen on it, helped me make my decision obvious. Hope this helps you too.

Also I am curious to hear your line of thought, so please share what do you think about the same. Cheers!

Hi /u/eirtep - I have the Panasonic TM900 as well and it's a great camcorder, but a little dated.

At your price point, I recommend [Referral Links]:

u/osomabinsemen · 2 pointsr/AskTechnology

Well if you want to go the cheaper route, you can get these. They seem to have good reviews and can easily be hidden.

If you want to go the more expensive route, you can get 3 of these that would also be a pretty good choice. You can return them within 30 days to amazon, so if you go this route you might actually spend less money. Note that the second choice will yield a better picture and will take a little bit of learning if you are not familiar with video equipment. You also don't have to get either of these; I would recommend any camcorder from Canon or Sony. Either will be great. If you find something, don't hesitate to shoot me a link. I'm happy to help!

u/HybridCamRev · 2 pointsr/videography

/u/SWDoctor - for run and gun, I recommend the [£4999 FS5] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PXW-FS5-Ultra-hand-held-camcorder/dp/B017NS58YE//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=hybrcamerevo-21&linkId=152dd41dcbb8d13f4341d9244338ec3e), if budget permits.

It is a lot easier to use - and for corporate, events, interviews, b-roll and training videos, you don't really need 4K/60p or 10-bit internal.

That said, if you really want a camera with built-in ND filters, built-in XLR inputs as well as 4K/60p, 10-bit internal and a native Canon EF mount, you might want to consider stepping up to the [URSA Mini Pro] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blackmagic-Design-URSA-Mini-Pro/dp/B06XDKHT3C//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=hybrcamerevo-21).

Here's this camera shooting an event in 4K with Canon glass:

  • [SMUEL: Tuning World Bodensee 2017 by SMUEL PRODUCTION] (https://vimeo.com/216309573) (4K)

Here it is shooting an interview:

  • [SWAGGER: interview avec OLIVIER BABINET au ROXIE San Francisco by Madnomad Films] (https://vimeo.com/212347272) (1080p)

Here it is shooting corporate promos:

  • [Feast Tofino - Our Harvest by Wyatt Visuals] (https://vimeo.com/212675125) (4K)

  • [BFIT Promo - 2017 by Rafael Pires Films] (https://vimeo.com/216259911) (1080p)

  • [Bristol Pilots LLP - Promo Video by bwfilm] (https://vimeo.com/211514843) (1080p - shot with the URSA Mini Pro and a Sony A7s II)

Here is the more general image quality this camera can produce:

    Travel/Nature

  • [SAKURA CHILL by TaQ Inoue] (https://vimeo.com/216288014) (4K)

    Narrative

  • [Squared (4K) by Tony Leech] (https://vimeo.com/213755500) (4K)

    Documentary

  • [Sunshine and laughter - Shot on Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro by Johnnie Behiri] (https://vimeo.com/209885747) (4K)

This camera is arguably the best of both worlds - a solid 10-bit (or 12-bit RAW) codec plus built-in camcorder features.

Hope this is helpful and good luck with your decision!

Pro video and audio do not come cheap! But there are some reasonable affordable options out there.

I would recommend something like the Canon XA-30. It's nice enough to be professional-looking but you can also set it to auto-everything and not really worry about focus issues, exposure, etc. No interchangeable lenses either. The main bonus is that it comes with XLR inputs for lav mics. It's not 4K however...is this a dealbreaker for you?

$500-600 is about average cost for a good wireless lav mic system (Sennheiser or Sony), but a good wired lav mic should only set you back $100-150.

Most people would generally recommend Manfrottos for your tripod, but if you are pinched for money take a look at the Magnus VT-4000.

Neewer makes a decent LED light kit for around $300. Again, things get exponentially more expensive when it comes to pro audio/video/lighting equipment but you have to start somewhere!

First off, congrats and welcome!

Hardwiring the DashCam was pretty easy, this is what I got for the job:

[Mobius ActionCam] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GPXYVQU/)

12V to USB Power Adapter

Mini Add-A-Fuse Kit

Crimps

Crimping Tool

And finally the instructions for wiring and routing the cable nicely:
http://www.focusst.org/forum/focus-st-electronics/13092-simple-instructions-hard-wiring-radar-detector-other-device.html

There's different fuses you can use depending if you want it on all the time or just when the car is on.

For floor mats I got these and they're great:

It's hard to say, but you will probably be okay with a chest mount. I had in mind bikes where you're in a tucked riding position. The chest mount also has the advantage of being the most stable and giving the least vibrations.

Just get one of [these] (http://www.amazon.com/Luxebell-Accessories-Session-Harness-Handheld/dp/B00PA2VXTU/ref=sr_1_25?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1453715964&sr=1-25&keywords=gopro+accessories), I have a similar one and they're of good quality.

EDIT: Make sure you get one that will also give you enough parts to make a chin mount if you end up going that route.

u/laXfever34 · 2 pointsr/videography

I thought i'd share what I just came up with.

I am moving to Germany at the end of the month for about two years, and I will be doing a LOT of traveling during this time. To preserve memories and share my experiences I decided to upgrade and change around my camera bag. I sold my d3300 and lenses and wanted a setup for something portable and not cumbersome that I can take in any situation without being annoying.

My activities I want to capture:

u/MightyStag · 2 pointsr/Gear360

Sure can! Just made this album moments ago.
http://imgur.com/a/jnlju

You can pickup a 1/4" adapter for any GoPro piece at a variety of places, like Amazon or Best Buy (I got mine at Best Buy for $3)

And talking about random attachments, I picked something similar to this up years ago and using that cheap adapter I can reuse them all for my Gear 360

Basically if you're good with go pros then I'd suggest maybe a good second hand one or a new hero session 1080 which starts at around $199 in some places and may go lower depending on sales.

If you're more of a hand camera kinda person then, that I could find sony has a decent bundle on amazon.

Hey there. I posted in the last weekly thread about needing a camera to record seminars for our organization (recording a large projected screen and the presenter in the same image, from about 40-50 feet away in dim lighting for at least an hour at a time) I got some good recommendations for DSLR style cameras but I think a camcorder would be better suited to our needs-mainly because of recording length and the fact that none of us are skilled videographers/photographers. I've gone through and looked at the newest options from Sony, Panasonic and Canon and I've divided them up by price because we still don't know how much we'll be able to spend on this. So I've split them up into "Around $500", "Around $1000" and "Around $2000+" I was wondering if someone could take a look at my picks and help me narrow it down to one or two options per price point

$500 | $1000 | $2000+
------|--------|-------
$547 - Panasonic HC-V800K | $897 - Panasonic HC-WXF1K | $1997 - Panasonic HC-X1000
$347 - Panasonic HC-W580K | $998 - Sony AX53 4K Handycam (FDR-AX53) | $2697 - Panasonic HC-X1
$498 - Sony CX675 Handycam (HDR-CX675) | $1299 - Canon XA11 Camcorder | $4149 - Sony AX1 4K Professional HandyCam (FDR-AX1)
$349 - Canon VIXIA HF R82 | $1099 - Canon VIXIA HF G50 | $1898 - Sony AX700 4K Expert HandyCam (FDR-AX700)
| | $3199 - Canon XF405 UHD Camcorder

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer

I literally just yesterday got the LifeLimit accessory bundle from Amazon.

LifeLimit SB111111 Accessories Kit for Gopro 4, Gopro Hero 3+, Gopro Hero 3, Gopro Hero 2 and Gopro Hero HD Bundle with 360-degree Rotation Clip and Accessories (40 Items)

by lifelimit

Link: http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00XHSVRF4

It's got several mounts and a tiny tripod. I haven't gotten a chance to test it out yet, but it all feels pretty premium, and the entire bundle was $36.

u/SileAnimus · 1 pointr/scooters

Basically any gopro will work if you get an attachment set. I got one of these and paired it up with a GoPro Session for my own helmet (which is also a modular!). Here's how it looks like. Very visible for anyone behind me, especially with the blinking red recording light. And don't forget to get a good microSD card to go along with the cameras- you need one that is made specifically for recording video (GoPro has a good list of those here).

And yeah, steering is the most important thing to learn. Super dangerous if done incorrectly.

u/Evoraist · 2 pointsr/gopro

The batches I have gotten off Amazon works great.

u/Lavidatortuga · 2 pointsr/PSVR

My $.02 is that I tried a stand, and, my space looked a little bit more cluttered. IMHO, and limited experience, you really need to find 2 or 3 spots that work best. A high spot for games like Superhot, and a closer for seated games. I think the velcro strips might be good. I happened to pull out a box of GoPro parts, and set up a few spots that work perfect. You can buy a mega bundle of GoPro parts for under $20.

Ok this is probably a dumb question. But how reliable is this stuff?

Neewer 50-In-1 Action Camera Accessory Kit for GoPro Hero Session/5 Hero 1 2 3 3+ 4 5 6 SJ4000 5000 6000 DBPOWER AKASO VicTsing APEMAN WiMiUS Rollei QUMOX Lightdow Campark And Sony Sports DV and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01171X0UW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EPZbBbQTG1PNN

The total of items for the price seems too good to be true. Currently I can't find my wrist strap and dive housing. I never really use the dive housing anyway. The standard one is more than enough for me. Anyway I need the wrist strap and antifog inserts for my upcoming cruise. Is this bundle worth it?

u/camusdreams · 1 pointr/motorcycles

I took the velcro wrist strap mount from this accessory kit on Amazon and just wrapped it around the chin/mouth on my helmet. It’s not ideal because the chin vents are borderline worthless but my visor still closes and I’ve used it for a year without an issue. I couldn’t figure out a safe option to do adhesive and honestly don’t trust the adhesive when I’m going 60+ mph anyway.

EDIT: Camera is a GoPro 7 Black shot at 2.7k 60fps.

u/WeirdPneumaticCheese · 2 pointsr/ActionCam

I got a 50-in-1 accessory kit for like 40$ CAD on Amazon. I would go with that. High quality for the most part, comes in a great hard travel case that holds all the pieces. I'm really happy with it

Here is the kit (Amazon Canada)

I would suggest to get a "Gorillapod" from "Joby" to use as a grip or quickly mount the camera somewhere for a short duration.

> I want to do walking tours in Europe and dont want to walk around with it on my head looking strange.

I totally understand what you are afraid off, yet in my opinion it's the shot that counts, not how you looked while you were taking said shot.

Even with non body mounted cameras (like my camcorder or DSLR) I sometimes stand in a weird way to achieve a shot and at these moments, I simply ignore what other people will think. Mosty because I won't ever see them in my life again.

> I was thinking of a shoulder mount but was thinking all the vibration from my body walking would overwhelm the camera.

While you are right, that the shoulder is WAY less stable than your head, if you focus on doing "less impactful" steps, you can definelty achieve a usable video with such a mount.

You don't have to go full "ninja steps", just don't stomp like a rhino ;)

I also thought it might be a nice view to have the camera mounted to your chest (you can use a cheapo chest mount from Luxbell (or other manufacturers for that, doesn't have to be the original one) and pointing downwards (to the ground), you can get a good "filler" shot, which you can put inbetween other shots.

u/scubashooter · 1 pointr/gopro

Hey I just bought a GoPro 4 Silver for scuba videos/photos and am looking at getting a basic beginners set-up to capture my dives down to 40m.
After researching online, this is what I've picked out;

  1. PolarPro Filter 3-Pack.
  2. PolarPro Switchblade 2.0.
  3. Backscatter FLIP4.
  4. SRP BlurFix3 SO + URPRO CYD Filter.
  5. SANDMARC Aqua Filter.

This light was well reviewed in some forums, is it worth it? (I know serious light setups are pricey and would be much better!) Would the way it interrupts the connection between the GoPro and the Mount increase the risk of losing it?

Also would this be suitable to attach the GoPro to my BCD so I could secure it when i need to use both hands?

Looking at getting this for just general GoPro antics while I'm travelling too.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
u/HybridCameraRevoluti · 2 pointsr/videography

If you want hours of continuous recording and Ultra High Definition (UHD) with a camcorder-like power zoom lens below $2000, your only choices right now are the [$1798 AX100] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HUVDT3M/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00HUVDT3M&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) or the [$1498 GH4] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I9GYG8O/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00I9GYG8O&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20) with a [$295 (as of this post) 3X power zoom lens] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005J5UKIS/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005J5UKIS&linkCode=as2&tag=battleforthew-20).

I chose the GH4 instead of the AX100 because I wanted the larger sensor, 10-bit output via HDMI and recording to real cinematic 4K (in addition to UHD).

I also had a bunch of micro 4/3 mount lenses and adapters from my earlier GH cameras.

That said, if you need more than 30 minutes of continuous recording, don't get the FZ1000 (or the LX100).

In my view, Panasonic screwed up royally by limiting these cameras to 30 minutes of continuous recording outside of the EU. For people who don't mind the limit, they're fine cameras, but it's the primary reason I won't be buying them.

Good luck!

I think for many action cameras the equipment is somewhat interchangeable.
Since you seem to own other cameras with mounts, maybe just try out if the Yi cam fits any of those mounts and get one of those.
There are cheap bundles of various attachment stuff on amazon if you search for "action cam" or for a company name. (gopro, rollei, Yi,..)
