This one is similar to the one I've got that supports three 10LB+ cats even after the dog chewed one of the walls of the bottom box apart. The biggest thing to pay attention to when shopping for tall cat trees is how sturdy the base is. Also make sure that the top of the tree is supported by the base, not hanging out in the middle of a box or something ready to tumble down (like this one). My brother had one like that and it lasted like 3 months with his ONE cat before the top started to lean. I like this one a lot too. Cute & sturdy! Depending on how big / clumsy your cat is, you may want to think about getting one that you can screw the top into the wall. Our cats would jump up to the top and rock the entire thing.

For anyone wondering...

It's made from mostly 1 inch MDF. The center curved part was cut on a CnC machine. We then drilled holes for dowel rods. So it's held together pretty well. All in all the project cost me about $60. Most of the cost being taken up in the sheet of MDF. Paint is "Chocolate Cosmos" and I got the grey carpet scraps from a nearby flooring place.

This is the original product that I based everything off of. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I'll probably put another coat of paint on it when I have some more free time. Bankey (the cat) hasn't gotten off since I brought it home :)

Here are a couple of more pics.

LOL aww how cute! I've heard from a lot of people that their cats like that toy! I have one of these cat condos and my box loving kitty thinks it's the most amazing thing ever.

u/awsaum · 1 pointr/cats

Here are some of my cats favorite toys and furniture. He also loves wiffle golf balls and laser pointers. His bed is actually an old Serta neck support pillow we don't use anymore. A good scratching post built into a tree is also a good choice for his room. Hope this helps!

We don’t have a fountain, but we do have this for our 13 pound tabby cat. He fits in the square house and tunnel well. I’m not sure how big yours is, but we had run into the same issue where he couldn’t really fit onto a level without spilling over. We have had to tower for about a month now and he hasn’t ventured all the way to the top, he likes to sprawl out on the level below it. He loves all the scratching posts.

u/dividezero · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

that describes the one I got from Amazon if you want to look at that selection. Like most cats, mine like to be a high as possible so I try to get the tallest trees I can. I got one that was a different color than you want but they have many in cream.

Here's one

and another

If that's too big, you can go smaller too. Don't let the price fool you, that thing is tall and sturdy. Customer service at Armarkat is great too. If you have any issues putting it together, just call them. They'll send parts or whatever. some parts are recycled so they might be able to help you find them at regular stores around you. Some might find that janky but I like it. Makes it easier to repair myself if I ever needed to.

I have a 4 month old kitten named Pico de Gato! He's cute! OK some essential items:

• Cat Litter Box (I actually went to Home Depot and got this http://m.homedepot.com/p/Plasgad-Black-Medium-Concrete-Mixing-Tub-887101C/205451550/) if you have the room, its awesome because of the size! I made my cat a cat cave for his litter! (CAT CAVE! http://imgur.com/a/eAW6B)

• Cat Litter and Scooper!

• Cat Tree! Go Pet Club Cat Tree,47.5-inch,Brown https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091OLFQE/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_boidvb110HRNM we got it for him and its amazingly sturdy and he loves it!

DO NOT DECLAW YOUR CAT

• Get an Automatic feeder and water thing

• Fuzzy mice! Lots.

• Jingling balls

• Cat Bed

• Toys on sticks

LASER POINTER!

• Catnip spray or Catnip in general

• Cat Nail Clippers!

• Harness and Leash if you are interested in leash training, do it while they are young! My kitten walks like a dog would on his!

• Collar with a bell so you can hear the sneaky kitty!

• Cat scratching post! They make awesome cardboard ones that are relatively cheap!

• Flea medication! DO NOT USE HARTZ BRAND

• Also, its actually really bad to give a cat/kitten fish! Especially male cats believe it or not! So don't buy fish products! It can give them really bad problems with their urinary tract!

u/Bufffy · 4 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

It's very stable! Assembly is super easy, it took 5 minutes to put together. Also, it's super affordable :)

I like the idea of a grey sectional, and think a yellow accent chair and yellow and blue throw pillows would really brighten up the place. If you go yellow, find matching curtains. Curtains are a must!!

I got this cat tower on Amazon. My cat absolutely loves it and it’s not ugly: cat condo

Also, I have this litter box, which you might want to check out to see if it would be good to keep the dog out: cat box

I've been eyeballing things on Wayfair for a while but haven't bought anything yet. Have you been happy with the furniture you've got from them?

Do you like the Asian-influenced items? You could have a mandala or lotus tapestry draped across the couch(or chair when you get it). https://society6.com/product/flower-of-life-batik_tapestry?sku=s6-6718942p42a55v412

I had another idea, but it's because I'm a cat person (so not really design-related at all). You could get a large cat tree :) https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Design-Furniture-Climbing-Scratching/dp/B07R4Q8YWN

u/ArmenianCorn · 2 pointsr/SiberianCats

yes! our is an amazon basics tree. here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G37Z32K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it seems sturdy enough but i really wont know until she is older. she does really love her cat condo though. hope this helps!

u/memorialday2000 · 3 pointsr/ferrets

If you can get something like this it would make car travel a lot more pleasant for everyone. You can fit litter boxes, hammocks, beds, etc and they will have room to spread out. Even a portable dog crate (cloth) will give them a bit more room and you can mount some hammocks and put litter boxes in. I'd recommend getting some kind of clip to keep the zipper together as they will eventually learn how to open them. I have used ones like this for travel and they work really well.

The cat tree is this one: amazon link

I have one, and honestly they are not very good. The sitting areas at the top are super wobbly / don't really feel stable, even a lightweight cat will cause them to wobble. The wood is a low quality particle board like a thick cardboard. The carpet is a thin felt that provides almost no cushion.

I have two of these other ones and love them, though: link. I'd highly recommend those.

u/ziburinis · 88 pointsr/JUSTNOMIL

If you want to keep your cat inside for safety he'll get used to it again easy enough.

One thing you can do that is much safer for your cat and for the local birds is to built an outdoor cattery. You can buy a pricy one like this https://www.amazon.com/LAZYMOON-Outdoor-Wooden-Outside-Shelter/dp/B0719R118Z Or just buy the lumber and hardware cloth from Home Depot and slap it together.

I've built something like this using cheap PVC, plastic fencing and zip ties. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSz_73-xC_W2pzSida3kowgLlLlPyAIyO5iSwpSntl7M2kYtiBe

I'd go with the chocolate point if you want an active cat. He's already putting himself forward and wants a lot of attention. Also looking right at the photographer, so that implies more than usual intelligence.

Admittedly, this is a lot to conjecture from a couple pics, but hey, you wanted opinions.

Or, you know, get both of them, why not? Two meezers can keep each other company while you're at work. They do need company, lots of it.

Protip: if you haven't had a kitten before....lock up everything breakable. Kittens gonna kitten.

Cheap thing to keep kittens super happy, get a bunch of boxes, duct tape them together to make a fort, cut holes in them as you go, make a maze. Don't bother making it pretty, they're going to beat it to death anyway. And make sure that every box has a way for you to reach in and grab the cat if it's sick. Sometimes they hide when they're sick.

We did this - thing was hideous, but man, the kittens LOVED it. More than any cat tree, because it had places to hide, which cat trees don't.

Also, if a kitten disappears, don't panic. They are ninjas at finding weird places to nap in. Found ours in the coffee table's drawer one time, astounded that they all got in there. Mama was freaking out yowling, kittens were all, "haha, can't find me". Imagine my surprise when I opened the drawer and it was full of kittens.

EDIT: Meez points develop when they're not wrapped in heated blankets all their lives. They develop on the parts of the body that are most chilled, and it doesn't take much, just everyday walking around. All cats love warmth, and getting them a heated sleeping pad from cozywinters won't affect their color.

Mine got a nasty sinus infection and half his face turned white due to it burning him up inside there, but the other other half stayed dark gray. He looked extremely weird during this phase.

My cat has this tower and he absolutely loves it. It's very easy to put together and quite sturdy.

I know it's not a tree, but my cat also has one of these attached to our sliding glass door and he loves to sit in it and watch the world outside. We have a bird feeder near it and he likes to watch them come and eat.

u/kni9ht · 3 pointsr/batonrouge

Gonna +1 the first guy's suggestion. Amazon has a lot of really nice ones for pretty good prices. eBay and Cozycatfurniture are also good choices.

I saw this one on Craigslist if you want to look into that. https://batonrouge.craigslist.org/for/d/erwinville-7-foot-cat-tower-beige-mint/6870827590.html

I have a 3 level, grey, floor to ceiling cat tree that my cat has never used. Originally paid $90 for it 2 years ago. I think my cat has sat on it less then 15 minutes total in 2 years.

Max height is like 8'5".

I just dissembled it. Its going in the dumpster tomorrow unless someone contacts me to claim it first. I vacuumed it pretty good to get all the dust and cat hair off, its still in great condition. My cat never scratched on it.

Heres the actual amazon link for my exact model.

I can arrange for pickup at my home south of City Park or my work, at 70 and Ward.

She absolutely loves it, and it’s a great place to stay warm in the winter. Well worth it.

I should point out… she’s not a very large cat.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Pets

Something where your cat can easily step from level to level, vs jumping or climbing, should probably work. Maybe something like this one? You might be able to put her bed on the top (although it's already pretty bed-like I think).

This one might be too tall but is a similar idea and looks easy to climb.

You could maybe also just get a simple set of steps but I'm not sure if the bed would fit on the top.
