I had created a list for friends after we had our first kid:
>Bottles:
Breast Flow was what we started with since it was said to mimic the breast the
best and help avoid nipple confusion.

>We also tried Drop-ins to help reduce gas. It works but the problem is if the
baby unlatches then air gets in. So we didn't use it for long. Since it is
disposable you only have to wash the nipple.

>What we mainly use now are Dr Brown's wide nipple. It seems to work well enough
for preventing too much gas. We feed adn then burb and he's usually ok with gas.
>Also give him gripe water once a day and Mylcon 3-4 times.

>Bundle-me - for the car seat. This is great for keeping the kid warm and cozy in the car seat during the winter months. It was also handy since the seat was big
for him when he was a newborn and this added some cushion.

>Feeding pillow my wife liked the best was Brest friend, it was better than the Boppy since it warped around. My wife was starting to wrist pains from holding the baby up until she started using this.

>For swaddling we tried Swaddleme but he would fight his way out. Then we found one that you can place the hands in flap that tucks under him and he couldn't fight out of that one. Only trouble was that he would get too hot in it. I don't see it on Amazon though. We picked it up from a birth store in Denville.
>The sleeping sacks he also liked, similar to one below.

him fall asleep faster.

>A flask of hot water is good to keep around if you guys are going to bottle feed. Maybe not as big as the one I got but it was more geared to travel, we have a smaller one for home use.

>This Sony Baby monitor was good since it has voice activated mode. It turns on when it hears crying.

>the baby clothes that open the front and much easier to put on. greber makes some.

>Don't buy diaper systems that seal. When you open it later you'll be hit hard.
>Better off letting wet diapers air out and place the other in the garage or outside. We usually place poopy diapers in a diaper bag. It's also handy for disposing them while on travel.

Take that, snobby straight-ahead jazz purists! Finally, the elite of smooth jazz have put together a project where it would be a compliment to hear that it put you to sleep -- or rather, your children. The mastermind of saxman Dave Koz and his brother, Jeff Koz, and the first release from Koz's Rendezvous Entertainment, this beautifully conceived and crafted recording has two modes: slow and slower. But that's intentional, as many of the genre's new dads (Peter White, Rick Braun, David Benoit) find quietly eloquent ways to lull their babes to sleep via their primary instruments. Some, like Benoit ("When You Wish Upon a Star") and Braun ("Somewhere Over the Rainbow"), pick the tried and true, while others, like White, write their own classic (the graceful, mystical "Charlotte's Song"). The Koz boys also contribute a new piece and bookend the project with soft-hearted soprano sax-driven takes on Beatles classics, including the title track. Perhaps the most unexpected treat is the fairy dusty take on Phil Collins' "You'll Be in My Heart" by flutist Steve Kujala and acoustic guitarist Grant Geissman. Others participating in the brigade of happy dads (and those who play music for and like dads) are Norman Brown, Brian Culbertson, Bruce Watson, and Brad Cole. Parents will be dreaming sweet long after the child is off to slumberland. ~ Jonathan Widran

Lawful good fictional character, Maxwell Smart " Maxwell Smart lives to thwart evil and promote niceness. He's loyal to the law and his country, and is a stickler for the regulations, but is not above occasionally ignoring them to help his friends."
Wonderful father in my life is my husband, he sacrifices everything for his children. He started a business for concessions selling mini donuts so that we could provide better for our children. In addition to this every summer he works a full time job year round and then does taxes an hour away during tax season, meaning he works two full time jobs, sometimes putting in 120+ hours a week with very little sleep!
Two things that achieve maximum awesome!! Cheese and crackers baby!!
Bonus #1: I'm guessing he was born in 1979
Bonus#2: totally guessing one again lol
I couldn't be more jealous. I would love to see this band perform live.
The vinyl has been on my WL since 5/24. You can find it on the first page of my "Vinyl" wish list.
Thanks so much for the contest and your generosity. Three people are going to be listening to some awesome music soon, thanks to you!
I don't have any kiddos, but as an almost twenty year old woman whose favourite singer is ALSO Taylor Swift, I just wanted to let you know she has great taste. :)
Did you know that this CD exists?!
Agree with that last sentiment. These are also beautiful renditions and pretty sure they’re all on YouTube https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000O591K6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QgO1BbQGG598P
5 - 10 -15 - 20: The Pitchfork Edition
5 - Kanye West - The Life of a Graduated Heartbreak
We were quite mature at a young age, listening only to this long lost Yeezus album. And by "long lost" we mean "what we formulated in our minds how Kanye should sound." It doesn't exist. Don't try and find it. It was our first BNM label.
10 - Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time
Yes, we admit it. We totally listened to this when we were kids. But the magazine only. We didn't listen to any of the actual SONGS. That would be ridiculous. We simply put the magazine on our record player and hit play.
15 - Arcade Fire - Funeral
Because why not?
20 - Taylor Swift - Red
We just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It was a mistake. Don't stop reading our reviews because of it. Don't worry. We still are the hitmakers of the hipster world. You know you need us. We'll still be here everyday with our sesquipedalian lexicon and metaphors that fall apart if you really think about them. We'll continue to describe sounds with words like "tectonic" and "panoramic" and "wounded" and "dusty." It's just...we need some T-Swizzle every now and then in our lives too.
25 - Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Radiohead
We only listen to Radiohead in its purest form: unadulterated kids music. What better way to put your baby or you asleep? Besides listening to an actual Radiohead album. But really, Thom Yorke wishes he could be this soothing with his voice.
30 - The Pixies? Or, uh, Nick Cave? Oh wait, Dinosaur Jr. Uh... Animal Collective? Wait they've been around how long now? Since 2003? Really? What artist has only released one single EP? That's who we listen to now
We're still relevant.
All through the night, You are my sunshine, All the pretty little horses, Mama's going to buy you a mocking bird... on and on and on. My MIL got me a wonderful cd of lullabies from fisher price. http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001FH2TYM/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=485327511&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000067Q98&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_r=0RV95C6RCJDWQ38RVRWE. Ridiculously long link, but this is the one I have. I used it to learn the songs. Singing to the baby is the best.
slapshot this cause its awesome!
Thanks for the contest. Hope your day gets better!
Montserrat Figueras has an an album entitled Ninna Nanna: Lullabies (1500-2002) featuring beautiful night music from all over. :)
We used a calming nature sounds DVD. It was wonderful. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/Nature-Sounds-Babies-Ambiance-Relaxation/dp/B00X21TU3C
This album of Irish lullabies worked like a charm for both of mine, and I actually enjoy listening to it too.
This makes me want to listen to the Rock-a-bye Baby Lullaby version of Metallica's 'the thing that should not be'. and make cute mobiles out of doll heads. Simply Darling.
http://www.amazon.com/Rockabye-Baby-Lullaby-Renditions-Metallica/dp/B000GY72JM
http://www.amazon.com/Now-Day-Over-Innocence-Mission/dp/B0002ZMJ4I Also Leonard Cohen's slower stuff is nice, especially his classic Hallelujah. If I can remember the lyrics, I sometimes do Cat Power, Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons, Noah and the Whale and CocoRosie. Also, Chinese Children by Devandra Bernhart and Wilco's What's the World.
My friend showed me this soon after I got my first Radiohead album. It was my introduction to so many of their songs!
I've always found that covers of Radiohead in different genres are really illuminating. Stripping away all of that Radiohead weirdness, you're always left with a brilliant melody. See also John Mayer's cover of Kid A and OK Computer lullabies.
Puff the Magic Dragon, Renee and Jeremy's lullabies, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Baby Beluga. I made a lullaby channel on Pandora that introduced a few new ones to me.
Elizabeth Mitchell has some beautiful songs, as well as this compilation. (Hint: CDs can be checked out at your local library to test-drive.)
My wife didn't like them at first. I started with the radio songs and they didn't really click with her until I took her to a TOOL show. Now she's been to the last 5 or 6 shows that I've been to. She likes them so much that she plays the rockabye lullabies to her 5th grade class (shes a teacher). My hope is she's secretly getting the next generation of tool fans hooked.

The whole series is pretty good actually.
Assuming it's her first kid, there's a very good chance that the actual birth will be 1-2 weeks after the official due date.
Also, congrats!
Check out the Rockabye Baby! album. They did music-boxy arrangements of some of their classics. Love the No Surprises one especially.

It's like, bob marley played on the xylophone.
Yeah, Stronger can be found here
And you can find the full album of Kanye lullaby covers, including the tracklist, here
There's a full album. Someone posted a pic of it here, titled,

or something like that.

Have you seen this before? I would have bought it if it had more Saint. Anger but since it didn't I figured the next best thing would be to just make my own that way I can make it less wimpy.
>I'd welcome them doing an album of kindergarten songs at this point.
