They now make them in titanium https://www.amazon.com/Dalluge-7180-Ounce-Titanium-Hammer/dp/B0014DO594

I have had mine for 5 years. Replace the handle about once a year. Got tired of paying 30 bucks for a handle so I started making them. Imgur has an issue right now but I'll edit with a pic of one of the handles i made. Yours is way better and now I'm inspired.

Edit: Made the one on the left. https://imgur.com/a/c0QOz

> I believe they're defunct.

I think it was offered recently enough that they sold them on Amazon, although it looks like Amazon doesn't still offer them.

EDIT: Looks like the design was bought, and is marketed, by Vaughan

This is a good list. Just wanted to add:

  • Estwing Framing Hammer. Replace standard hammer with this, you will not be disappointed.
  • SuperBar/Wonderbar. Again, you will not be disappointed.
  • 18v Makita LiOn set. This set (non LXT) goes for like $200 on sale at times at the big box stores, then you can buy the LXT Hammer drill bare (no battery) on Amazon for like $60. Spare drill for $20 more. This or Milwaukee (just IMO). Hammer drill is important for anything having to do with masonry.
  • Pancake compressor and brad nailer. You might want a framing nailer but I doubt it if you're asking here about tools.
  • Tape measure - I prefer Lufkin and they're cheapest at HD.
  • 6' level. When you need it, you're going to be pissed you had to spend $50 at that moment.
  • spade bit set. No fun unless you're building walls and running electrical!
  • Mechanix gloves. I usually get 6-7 months out of a pair but they're the best IMO.

Of course, around Thanksgiving/Father's Day there's plenty of deals to be had on Craftsman stuff (sockets/screwdrivers/etc). I need a new box but I already built it into my bench

On the amazon in a few places. One Two Three. Just google 6-in-1 hammer on amazon and you'll find them.

Probably on ebay too.

Enjoy your brassy hands.

> I suppose what I am trying to say is that there is no truth behind all words. Some words simply point to other concepts or a compilation of concepts. They draw the line in the sand because it makes it easier to swallow. They then believe these concepts are permanent concrete assets.

Internet Gentlemen, I have been following this interesting discussion and find this as good a point as any to throw in my $0.02.

The problem of representation is a tricky one whether you are talking gluons, trees, or houses, as the universe resists any attempt to be represented. My proof: try for a minute to represent a concept you hold dear by putting your body in a position and holding it there. (Let's say, for instance, the Superman pose represents an analog universe and Rodin's Thinker represents a digital universe.) You will eventually tire out. Eventually you'll tire to the point you'll die (even Superman!) Then the body will dissolve back into the earth. The same happens to all representations, whether they are formed of body, words, or thought.

That being said, there is great utility in representation. Call a ripe mango a hammer and good luck building your house. Call a sledgehammer a framing hammer and you'll kill your back building the first wall. Call a 24 ounce framing hammer a 20 ounce framing hammer and you'll be mildly annoyed. This is my hammer, and even if you gave me an exact replica I feel that I could somehow tell the difference. The representation has great utility.

To the extent that it is possible to use representations to build ourselves into unsolveable paradoxes (the hammer' snout), it is equally possible to use very similar representations (the same hammer's claw) to extract ourselves from those paradoxes.

You might try Estwing's new design that is supposed to achieve the same or better feel at a somewhat lower cost. $100 at home depot or $110 on amazon. I have no opinion on which is better but would find it interesting to try them side-by-side.

Longer nose is a "electrician hammer" it's so you can get into the back of deep boxes. I've never owned one, I actually love my cheap Kobalt hammer with the curved handle, used to be able to catch them on sale for around 15$.

Hi! Thanks for the info. Can you confirm if this is the right model? Stiletto TB15MS Tools Inc TI-Bone Titanium Hammer with Straight Handle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006K158/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nZ6uCb7HFYYHC

u/dmscheidt · 3 pointsr/Tools

don't waste your money on a titanium hammer. they're for people who use them all day, or simply have too much money.

If I could have only one framing hammer, it would the Vaughn 23 oz California Framer, but the 19 is more popular. I'm partial to axe handle hammers, not everyone is.

u/frothy_pissington · 0 pointsr/Construction

I think the wood handled stilletto's are china made.

Why buy imported junk for $90 when you can buy USA made quality for $25?

(I personally swing the straight handle version, but some people like the hatchet handle, more power to them ....)

u/bonafidebob · 3 pointsr/software

These three hammers also accomplish the same tasks. ...generally speaking.

Don't pick the wrong one.

u/scapstick · 2 pointsr/woodworking

Only the most expencive t-bone hammer is anywhere near
$400 the 16oz framer is around $150 most places that sell them Here is the 14oz for 109 free shipping.

u/Nobody_LikesDiarrhea · 3 pointsr/Carpentry

I've heard good things about Martinez hammers. What do you think? They are not cheap...

u/SiberianToaster · 1 pointr/Carpentry

I've got one of those as the backup hammer in my work truck, but in the 12oz variety.

I usually carry one of these though. Much more comfoftable to me, since I like a heavier hammer.

u/jldude84 · 3 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Hmm...most useful things for $300. I would recommend Lowe's/Home Depot, but since you're limited to Amazon....

>Being a designer and using a PC rather than a Mac should not be seen as some sort of stigma.

I don’t care that you prefer a PC, more power to you. We were talking about someone being called ‘stupid’ for choosing a Mac.

>a lot of people have already mentioned in this thread, it ain't about the tools you use.

Those people are either lying to themselves or haven’t really considered those words. Tools matter a lot.

I can work faster and more precise with a computer than I can with an x-acto knife and masking film. I am more flexible with a notebook than with a big desktop tower computer. I can do more and work faster with a recent computer than with a 10 year old computer. I can research and learn faster and more with Internet access than by trying to find it in books. Et cetera.

Ask a carpenter why he uses a $90 hickory handled hammer. Tools matter.
