lol why would you use a toothbrush unless you're a masochist!?
You can buy brushes that are like $6-$11 each, with varying bristle stiffness, and they last years.
I bought 3 Mothers brushes like 3 years ago and I'm still using them.
wheel contour brush. Hard bristles, great for tires and rim face.
long handle brush. Medium bristles, great for wheel wells and your wheel's barrel.
Wheel brush. a bonus brush if your feeling a bit extra. Has really soft bristles. Really gets a great lather going on your wheels.
Here's all the stuff I use :)

I recently got these. Good quality with 5 different size brushes at a great price.
So I used the Lexol cleaner on my seats recently and it worked great. Didn’t leave behind a smell really at all and made the seats feel softer to the touch (and cleaned them). I bought a little leather safe cleaning brush on amazon. Mind you this is on my 2008 is350. As far as I know, the seats are actually leather on the 2is, however they are coated with a plastic sort of layer. I read into it a lot and what I found was that the cleaner does what you want it to do - cleans the seats, but the conditioner is not necessary. Because the seats are coated, the conditioner is not able to penetrate the leather, and so what you would be left with is a greasy layer on top of the seat that ends up rubbing off on your clothes.
What I did was wet the seats a bit, apply cleaner with microfiber cloth (I bought some little microfiber applicator pads from Walmart who also now carry lexol) and then use your brush to scrub the seats (I did it in kind of a circular motion). Do one section at a time and then wipe off with clean microfiber and that’s it! Worked really well and it didn’t have a bad odor and very little residue left over when it was all done.
Here’s the brush I got (did a ton of research on this, careful which one you go with because many of them shed badly, did not notice this shedding one bit).

Hope this is helpful!!
I think you are over-thinking this man. Cleaning a tire is pretty basic stuff. Get a brush made for cleaning tires (I use this one), spray the tire liberally with cleaner or APC, let the solution dwell for a minute or two, and then scrub the tire in a circular motion around the rim. You'll see the dirt and whatnot in the foam of the cleaner. It the cleaner doesn't turn brown or black then you are good. If it looks really gunky, then do another application.
Edit: You are only cleaning the sidewall and maybe a small bit of the tread on the edge. Don't bother cleaning the tread of the tire.
I usually use soft brushes to tackle it. I use one the size of a wheel brush. Nice soft bristles so it won't leave micro scratches :)
Don't know if links are allowed but here is the set I picked up:
JANYUN Natural Boar Hair Detail Brush (Set of 6), Auto Detailing Brush Set Cleaning Weels, Interior, Exterior, Leather 2 pcs Automotive Air Conditioner Cleaner Brush https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075B3ZHK9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_iYNHDbWXFN88B
I have a set of these and they're awesome. There's also one linked in the wiki, but it's on the pricier side. Wheel Woolies are awesome too, but I think they'd be of limited use with your wheels unless you're cleaning the wheel barrel.
No worries! My personal preference to clean consoles and buttons is to spray product onto a soft brush and then go over the electronics, that way there's no risk of product running down into the cracks and seeping in.
With that said, I also highly recommend brushes like these, they're much easier to work with than tooth brushes (although you still definitely want to keep a few of those in your kit for the tight nooks and crannies), especially for spots like the cup holders, door pockets, and air vents.
I bought these brushes for $15.
I would definitely get a sealant. I like Blackfire.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0716T78KV/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_BYMZBbZSCZBWZ Just picked these up cuz 2 of my other ones broke. They seem pretty good and durable, havent used them yet so we'll see
IronX will help with the removal of any Iron product on your wheels.
and some tools:
Hello! I bought a new car a little over a month ago and I wanted to do some basic cleaning with it, stuff that can be done maybe a couple times a month, since I never personally did that with my previous car.
Anyways, I live in SoCal so I'm trying to keep water usage to a minimum. This is my current "to-purchase" list that I'd like to buy soon;
ONR
iK Sprayer
Iron X
TRC Creature Edgeless 10pack
Mother's Tire Brush
ABN Wheel Woolies
Stoner's Reach Tool
Already have: Stoner's Invisible Glass, Costco multipack MF towels.
Will I still want to get a clay bar + wax for after washing, or is just washing every so often enough?
Don't spray dash cleaner in your vents. Use a microfiber cloth or soft bristle brush. Like these:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0771TK371/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_aS4RCb9WV5BB6
I got this set and they are nice.. my old ones are better but they're not sold anymore..

I don’t power wash, I two bucket hand wash. Rolling my garden hose up with its reel takes 15 seconds...
I don’t wax my wheels. I spray on Meguiars Hot wheels before I wash. Then I brush them with a wheel brush and rinse them when I rinse the whole car.
I don’t wait for anything to air dry. I do a pass with my blower and then another quick pass with a chamois to wipe off any residual moisture. Then I dry the wheels with microfiber towels.
So bi annual process (all Meguiars): spray wheels with Hot Wheels, 2 bucket wash with Gold Class Car Wash, brush wheels, rinse entire car with the garden hose, blow dry/chamois/towel wheels, clay with Smooth Surface Clay bar, seal with either Ultimate Liquid Wax or this year I tried Ultimate Fast Finish (awesome stuff!), finish with Ultimate Quik Detailer and a microfiber towel.
Then every few weeks it’s just: spray wheels with Hot Wheels, 2 bucket wash with Ultimate Wash and Wax, brush wheels, rinse with garden hose, blow dry/chamois/towel wheels, finish with Ultimate Quik Detailer and a microfiber towel. Dust interior with this little guy and then protect the interior surfaces with Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner and a microfiber.
Might have to vacuum and clean my interior windows once a year. I use a 100% cotton T-shirt and E&M Glass Cleaner for that because it’s tint-safe.
So yeah, after a season or two of learning 2 hours bi-annually and 30 minutes every 3 weeks is about accurate. I get that people find detailing to be intimidating since some people straight up obsess over it online but in reality keeping your car looking showroom new is not difficult or time consuming. You just gotta dive in. Worst that will happen is that your car will end up cleaner than when you started.
Not a vacuum, but this thing is a beast for upholstery (couch/car). $6

Here's the Griot's version, which are basically the same thing for 17 bucks. Even produced by the same manufacturer(Braun brushes)
Chemical Guys Acc_S95 1 Pack Long Bristle Horse Hair Leather Cleaning Brush https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K9ELWPI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_u0DrDbSFJW7EX
Not the biggest chemical guys fan but they hit it out of the park with this brush. It’s soft so it won’t scratch your leather and mess up your floor rug. It will however pull all of those fine dirt pieces off your rug. I have black carpet on my truck and it cleans it right up. 10/10 will recommend.
negatory ghost rider, 6 come in a package and they all look the same
Some of these are handy

I have this particular set. I use the big one for scrubbing my wheels and the smallest one for interior. Spray some apc on em, or even some optimum no rinse, and scrub away. Though, you may want to be careful around piano black surfaces. Im not sure if theyll scratch or not. They seem pretty soft, though.
These Griot's ones on Amazon are cheaper, though still a bit pricy, but I've had them for over a year and have no complaints. Have held up well. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B004YMRIC8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
