I didn't even think of that as I have not ran into one (to my knowledge at least) in any of the other dozen or so locks that I have picked. I will do a little more reading about security pins and tinker with it tomorrow some more. I do not have a picture, but I can have you one tomorrow as well when I get back at it if that will help. Here is what lock I believe they are though. Thank you, again. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000Y4B5EM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1518565553&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=callan+deadbolt&psc=1

Commercial product? Kind of.

Get someone to drill holes and screw on a handle like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Modern-Cabinet-Polished-10-Pack/dp/B01MYAGI09/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=4%22+chrome+handle&qid=1556738563&s=gateway&sr=8-9

Or this one if reverse access isn't possible (less pretty):

https://www.amazon.com/Bulk-Hardware-BH02239-Handle-Screws/dp/B00O7P0XAQ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=4%22+front-screw+chrome+handle&qid=1556738803&s=gateway&sr=8-1

You'd probably need to go to Home Depot and buy the perfect length screws in either case.

Then you'll have a screw hole and screw visible on the other side of the door? I would instead recommend OP to get something like this that are better fit for this door. You won't see the screw and you get the handle on both sides of that door

You can have a locksmith re-key the lock, or you can buy something like this. With the latter option, it comes with regular keys and a sliver of metal that you can use to change it over to your old key. It's pretty easy to do.

got it, thanks for the tip about same key series.

does this look like i'm on the right track?

would major hardware stores like home depot
already stock matching key series lock sets,
or even there they would all be random to each other.

i'm into picking all types of locks so i listed some basics here. good starting points for further exploration and learning. tool making and/or additional future purchases required for some of these, but that's the name of the game:

tubular lock

sidebar lock

slider lock

dimple lock

double-sided wafer lock

disc detainer

lever lock

There are lots of handle/lock sets at Home Depot that are the right size to cover that opening. Why don't they work?

Even if that particular lock won't work, you can use the handles, and get a lock that is like a pin.

I have had one of those as the sole lock on my sliding door for about 17 years.

I'm in the states for a few weeks right now, so I can't share a photo of the deadbolt (but it does give me the chance to buy a US device if it's viable). But the key operates a rounded bolt that extends from inside of the door itself. It is wholly separate from the door handle (which does not have a key), such that you need to use the door handle to open the door, the deadbolt only locks/unlocks the door.

It looks almost identical to the one in the photo found here

I don't know if you can get parts. When a lock component snapped on one of ours (our house is 100 years old) we resorted to purchasing a compatibly-sized reproduction. I found one on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Marks-Hardware-91A-RH-Mortise-Right/dp/B005N184G8) that looks like it might work for you, but we got ours at a repro hardware specialty store.

The above is quoted from OP'S Schlage F92-CEN... dummy set link.

You want a door you can manually unlock from the outside?! Think about it...........and there it is. No they don't exist, nobody in their right mind would put one of those on an exterior door...BUT, they do make a style with a key lock that would work for what you need. Find you one of those that suits your style and keep them kitties locked in!
