(Part 3) Reddit mentions: The best drawing markers

Just about any marker I can find! I especially like the [crayola super tips](Crayola Super Tips Washable Markers, 100 Count, Bulk, Great for Kids https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071CP6X88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_I28-zbVDGYVQT) and any brush tip marker (dual tip) work nicely too for any kind of calligraphy stuff!

I used paint markers on the whole model, except the insides of the thrusters, which were too hard to reach.


To do the thrusters, I had some leftover minwax polyshade, which I diluted with the last of my paint thinner and dipped the thrusters in. It didn't leave a thick enough coat, so I made it stronger. In the process I made it too strong, which led to all of the details on the ship being obscured by thick black paint! Looking up on the shelf in front of the sink, I saw some of my beloved's super nail polish remover. I grabbed that and a toothbrush, and was able to thin the thick coat. I then spread some across the whole model to give it that "weathered" appearance.


IMHO, it matches up well with the Y-Wings I did a few weeks ago.

You can buy minwax polyshade and paint thinner at at hardware store, nail polish remover from a dollar store or whenever.

Hello, thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it! I used the Copic Multiliner 0.03 (black) for a majority of the outlines and the Pigma Micron 005 by Sakura of America for the thicker lines and on the bee. I linked them up just so you can see them however, I'd recommend going to your local art shop instead and purchasing the single pens for cheaper than what you can get online.

Aloe! You can get aloe vera gel in travel sizes, I’m sure someone will burn. Edible favors are fun, especially something snacky for late nights. Maybe something like a beer cozy, or those things you can buy to indicate whose drink is whose (like these little guys that people can put on wine stems or straws).

The nail polish is Superchic Lacquer Trap Queen ($14).

Really depends on who you ask. Both my girl and I do body art, but I use Sharpies and she uses paints. Paints are a lot easier to clean off, but I don't care for the lack of precision I feel when using paints.

Lipstick could work, but may stain furniture or clothes, so be mindful of that (note: Sharpies will do the same). Again, a good body paint might be more fitting for what you're looking to do.

Edit: You might also want to experiment with washable markers.

2. I would really like this 3 Copic marker set

For the swoosh I put a small dab of toothpaste on the main bit, smoothed it round slightly and let it dry for about 5 minutes. Wiped it off with a wet towel which sort of de-laminated it - after that I used some EXTREMELY fine sandpaper and gently sanded it in a circular motion to dull it further. If you use sandpaper make sure you buy the right stuff.

For the text I used this, and had a bowl of water and just gently just tapped the paint onto the text

You could apply some white sharpie on the current feet and then touch the new feet to the current feet, which would show you the correct outline on the new feet. But I would recommend selling off the feet, perhaps on /r/MouseMarket, and just buying the correct feet.

I was painting in photoshop for a while, and started to get fed up with it. Even as I got faster and faster, It was still a pain dealing with all those layers. For example, This unfinished piece

I used different textures and brushes, and while I like the final product, it just took so long.

I would go out and get some Chartpak AD markers, some pulpy paper...or bristol, whatever, something that soaks up the markers and bleeds nicely, and just start messing around. Thats how I started (those markers also are sold individually. I started with just 4 or 5 colors, and now I think I have something like 60 of them
