The soft kitty socks on my $10 and under list would keep my toes nice and "TOASTy" in those drafty dorm towers. Then I would be less inclined to "WhINE" about being cold.
•Riddle 2

I am sure that Arthur Weasley would be fascinated by the handy muggle invention that uses "eckeltricity" to make sweeping a breeze. The Dust Buster can be found on my Organize All the Things list and would help me keep my dorm room clean and tidy without having to use a "BROOM"
•Riddle 3

The shaggy baby boy's "HAT" on my list for Reproductive Unit #3 would be the perfect size for keeping my owl warm and toasty while delivering mail in the winter.
•Riddle 4

Perhaps a copy of the A Feast of Ice and Fire "cookBOOK" would give the house elves some inspiration for the tasty meals they whip up. It can be found on my Books, Glorious, Books list.

Riddle 5

My packing skills are dreadful. I would probably need the Foldable Engine Hoist on my Spouse Creature list just to lift my "TRUNK"

Bonus Riddle

The Superman bathrobe that is also found on my Spouse Creature list and would definitely double as a "CAPE" I am a pretty modest person, so this would be required for shared bathrooms.

I'm excited to see other folks making these and having a positive experience. I had a blast with making the top.. The legs were a bit harder for me to knock out.. Took me a couple of weeks, but I use my table almost every day, now.. I just routed a slot in mine and installed a rockler t track and LOVE IT

I still need to find a cost effective way to add a couple of wood vices on the sides like the classic style.. I got a lot of use out of rex kruger's video on an affordable bench.. He just did a video on low cost clamping options.

A load leveler helps. You can tilt the engine to line up bolts for the trans. Or if you're pulling the trans with it you can tilt it to help get it out better.

Label the plugs or take pics for when you have to plug everything back in. All of the plugs are different from each other, but it can help.

It's pretty straight forward, really.

I just went through this a few months ago myself.

There isn't too much to worry about for engine stands. I ended up getting one off amazon for pretty cheap: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VREQWI . Just find the correct thread pitch bolts and get a bunch of washers, lock nuts. If you're completely disassembling the engine I would make sure you get one with an oil pan attached to the bottom. You have no idea how much fluid is in all the nooks and crannies of an engine -- you think it's dry, then you rotate the entire thing and a bunch of random fluid spews out onto the garage floor.

For Cherry Pickers I opted for the harbor freight one for like 180 bucks. So long as the lift mechanism isn't leaking and you have enough clearance to get to your engine you'll be fine. I had a little trouble with mine where the crane wasn't long enough to clear the front bumper, luckily I had towels down so it didn't do any major damage. Most places will rent you one, but in the time it takes to haul it there and back you might as well just buy one outright. Also, if you plan on keeping it around make sure you go for the fold-able legs kind, they really take up a ton of space if you can't retract the legs.

I'm not sure of your budget or where you're working on it, but something like this is the usual way.

Professional mechanic here with another vote for cylinder head bolts. Here's a link to an engine hoist load leveler. You can bolt directly to one and will help a lot when it comes too being able to tilt the transmission down too. You may want a longer one for this engine to prevent bending the bolts in, so shop around a bit. An auto part store may even have one in their loaner tool selection. You would pay a deposit and get the refund upon return.

You could always use something like an engine puller. Some fold up even. You can have a crank or electric hoist on top even. When you need to move boxes, rope them up, and hook the box up to the hoist and done.

Most of them you can buy will be out of your price range, as they are made to lift engines, but if you look at the basic design and are handy with tools, I'm sure you could build one of your own that would lift 100 lbs with no problem. Also with building your own, you could match the truck dimensions... like I said, these are made to pull engines from cars, and they might not reach as high/far as you would need.

Generally they would suspend the engine and trans using a special tool (picture a bar that goes from one fender to the other but it has feet on either end...edit: this tool). This way the subframe can be dropped lower to get easy access to the lower control arm.

On some cars the bar has to rest high up on the fender near where the hood hinges. The hood might be in the way of the tool.
