I say stick with the ABF40. You don't need an extra 100 yards so might as well save yourself the extra bit of weight and bulk by using the smaller reel. I don't know if anyone can even cast 900' on a spinning reel, so you almost certainly don't need another 300' on top of that since you're not worried about monster fish running with your drag.

Your rod can handle 1oz-6oz weights, so I still say to stick with 30lb braid for weights that heavy. Even a small hiccup when casting a 6oz weight will snap 15lb line, and your bail snapping closed will break it like tissue paper. A bad cast still almost certainly break your 30lb line too, but at least you have a tiny chance to recover your gear.

Get enough line on your reel (but not too much or it will slip off and be massive headaches), tape up your finger or get a finger guard, and toss out your bait with a 5oz weight and you should be happy with your distance.

these. I've used them about three times now and they're decent! Comfortable and seem like they'll hold up well.

I'm working on making an LED sleeve that responds to my heart rate. It looks doable, but the only concern I have is with getting the time to complete it and with the possible battery life. So far I've modified the stock Heart rate sensor code to dump my heart rate to a standard variable "BPM," which is read every 2ms. There will be 4-5 strips of weatherproofed WS2812B's of consisting of 6-7 LEDs each sewn into a sleeve with another sleeve on top (so that the Electronics aren't directly exposed). The LEDS will pulse to my heart rate, as well as switch colors from green >yellow > orange > red to indicate how fast it's going. The problem so far is keeping the sensor in place, but I may opt for a sewn on finger glove to keep it on my finger. Other option is on my wrist, but if it rotates off my radial artery the sensor stops working :(

So far I've gotten the code to output my BPM and I've set up the WS2812B strips. The next step is to assign the BPM ranges to different colors, set up a fade effect (so that each strip lights up sequentially) and figure out the coding for the Neopixels... o_O

Something like this is ideal in cool / kind of cold temperatures: Amazon: Flip Mitt

You can get ones that have gloved fingers where the bare fingers are too, which is nice for more northern climates.

u/2_4_16_256 · 1 pointr/whitewater

I have one of these but the NRS boaters gloves also look good.

u/AINullPointer · 1 pointr/flyfishing

Amazon Hands down the best gloves for fishing in cold weather I have ever tried. They are wind and "somewhat" water proof. If you stick you hand in the water, they will get wet, but rain and stripping the line wont get your hands wet.

u/yoyoerx · 3 pointsr/sailing

To answer beyond water resistance, sailing gloves often have friction pads to aid in holding loads and they also have wear resistant parts which help them last longer with lines running through them. Bike gloves tend to have padding in the palms which you don't need sailing and might cause problems with grip.

I just ordered a pair of these Anchor 3/4 length today but they also have a 3 finger and a 5 finger version. They have great reviews from sailors I know. Only complaint I have heard is that they are too grippy which can cause shock loading if you are not careful when you ease sheets.

u/HeyStripesVideos · 2 pointsr/bassfishing

this happened to me while removing the other trebles from a bass.. I got hooked while the fish was still attached... so as it thrashed around it drove the hook deeper into my hand.

it went past the barb... I had to eventually just rip it out so I could get the fish off...

I did not fish any more that day...and I am much more careful when bringing fish in now
I bought a special glove for those trickier situations

This looks to be it. It also looks like /u/Cliffhanger777 isn't wearing them quite right, according to the Amazon photo.

u/SillyChuckles · 2 pointsr/kayakfishing

I went with the Kastking ones, looks like they are a little more than the ones already mentioned at $21:

I have these gloves for cold weather fishing. I've had them a while, but I've only needed to use them a few times. I like that you can expose just your index finger or thumb.

u/jkolada · 6 pointsr/videography

These gloves were my favorite purchase for my frozen lake shoot. Thumb and pointer finger have fold-away fingertips

u/CokeCanNinja · 2 pointsr/army

Unfortunately the only branding was printed on the inside and wore off. [These look like the same thing though](Glacier Glove ICE BAY Fishing Glove, Black, X-Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002N0KRG2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_g20lyb7YF2MYQ).

u/TOMALTACH · 2 pointsr/flyfishing

I am not a huge fan of orvis, however, i do have these gloves, they're perfect, at least for me, strange i recall purchasing them for $20 via amazon...i generally don't wear gloves because i'm naturally shaky and have enough difficulty tying on without gloves on my hands. only on bitter cold days i put em on, like under 20degrees.

u/postapocalive · 1 pointr/Bushcraft

I like to use an OR insert glove inside of a cycling glove with a leather palm/fingers. I also have an old pair of Gore Tex Burton snowboarding gloves that fit like mechanics gloves they too have a leather palm. These are pretty sweet too Outdoor Research Firemark Gloves, Coyote, Medium https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004WSU2SQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_APJMybXHXYY9P. Basically the golve is gonna get a bit wet but the things that I've mentioned will retain some heat and are tough as hell.

u/V2BM · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I own these for driving/outside work. I got mine for $5 and regret not ordering 3 pair. I like them a lot, since I don't have to lotion up with sunscreen five or six times a day and get it all over my keys/purse/steering wheel.

AK needs treatment from a dermatologist - here's a study. Another.

u/Another_Minor_Threat · 4 pointsr/Construction

I use this face mask and while it doesn’t stop all the wind, it’s thin enough that it doesn’t fuck up my hard hat fit.

My gloves are similar to these but they are lightly insulated and have the rubber knuckle guards. I forget the brand.

Personally I’m not a coveralls fan. I wear a couple layers under my jeans, including some windproof pants, and a heavy Cat coat.
