Wooooo okay! Here's 1-20, and I will give the bonus ones a go in just a few minutes! fear cuts deeper than swords

1.) Something that is grey. How about a knife set?!

2.) Something reminiscent of rain. Cinema Paradiso! The cover of it is two people in the rain :) (Movies wishlist)

3.) Something food related that is unusual. This Manatea infuser is unusual! (Default wishlist)

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!) I have a pet wishlist and a wishlist for my best friend! This traveling litter box is the perfect combination--it's so I can take my kitty on trips to my best friend's place! (Kitty wishlist)

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it! Why have just one book when you could have 3000?! This little usb is loaded with over 3000 classic novels. Yes, almost all of these novels are free on Project Gutenberg, but having them all in one spot ready for you to peruse is amazing. You're almost guaranteed to find a book worth reading that you haven't read yet! (Books wishlist)

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related! Well, not a physical item, but I have an mp3! (Music wishlist)

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...) Kitty nail caps! I have a sphynx, so I have to clip her nails roughly every week (otherwise when she scratches herself, she cuts herself up D:). Nail caps are a cute and more hassle-free way of dealing with her claws! (Kitty wishlist)

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it. This one is pretty tough for me, actually--I love purposeful items! However, I already have a cheese grater, so this hedgehog shaped one isn't actually something I NEED--it's just so cool!! (Default wishlist)

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why? Life is Beautiful. It's a sweet, touching, and heartbreaking story of a Jewish father trying to keep the joy in life in a concentration camp. It's laugh-out-loud funny, and so sad you'll cry. Definitely worth watching. (Movies wishlist)

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain. Packaged, high-cal foods will be really helpful! You have to keep your energy up while you're on the run, and you need a portable snack! These cookies are sure to give you the extra boost you need to escape the zombies. (Default wishlist)

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals. Hmmm this is a toss-up for me. I need a laptop for life. I have a little chromebook, but when I need to update my resumes and write cover letters, I need to go to the library to use an actual computer to make sure the formatting is right. A laptop would help with the job hunt and (hopefully) help land me a job! (Expensive things wishlist) My other goal, to become healthier, would be helped by wrist weights to wear during my runs! No, it's not a huge amount of weight, but it will make my runs that much more difficult and help tone my arms! It's a small change with a big impact :) (Default wishlist)

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items. Oh gosh, take your pick. Cat snuggie (kitty wishlist), sriracha (who doesn't love hot sauce?! Under $6 wishlist), a pumice stone (Under $6 wishlist), or a kitty laser toy! (kitty wishlist)

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why? A $500 keyboard. I love playing piano, but I'm a young and flighty thing--I fully expect to be moving around a lot for the next 5-10 years, and I can neither afford an actual piano, nor can I imagine transporting one in and out of various apartments. This keyboard will give me the chance to practice and enjoy playing, but it's a much more compact and liveable way of doing so. (Expensive things wishlist)

14.) Something bigger than a bread box. A relatively cheap and yet still nice vacuum cleaner! Nice, easy to use, and practical :) (Expensive things)

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball. A storm trooper USB! Cute and practical! (Default wishlist)

16.) Something that smells wonderful. Lavender chamomile bubble bath! I don't know about you, but few things smell more relaxing to me than lavender and chamomile, so a combo bubble bath just sounds like bliss to me. (Default wishlist)

17.) A (SFW) toy. Here's a whole bag of toys! And less than $10 too! My kitty would have a field day with all those toys :) (Kitty wishlist!)

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school. A lunch box! I always brought my lunch to school, so every year I got a cool new lunch box for that year :) These ones are super cute, and insulated! (Default wishlist)

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be. I've had a life-long Disney obsession! (Movies wishlist) My whole bathroom is Mickey themed (default wishlist), and I'm always looking for cool new Disney items to add to my wishlist! I seriously love Disney.

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand. You too can own the Sword of Gryffindor! (Expensive things wishlist) Not only do you get to wield the weapon that destroyed three pieces of Voldemort's soul, it's also pretty practical! It's a letter opener that you can proudly display resting in the hands of a lion :) (Expensive things wishlist)

  1. I have a whole separate list for Add On Items :D
  2. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003SZ4C1W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2HWS60SK817Y1&coliid=I3SQH2T383YZCF
My feet have a ton of dead skin because I dance every day, and I miss having soft, baby smooth feet.

  3. Story time!

Once upon a time, there was a fly named Robert. Robert really liked this fly named Cindy. Cindy invited Robert to go to the fly-est spot in town, The Garbage Can. Now, Robert had never been to the Garbage Can, and so quickly called up his best friend, Sue Ellen, who was very kind and smart, but not very fashion forward. However, she was the fly that helped him with everything, so that's who he called.

"Quick, Sue Ellen! Cindy invited me to go to the Garbage Can with her! What should I wear?" Robert said as quickly as he could.

Sue Ellen was quiet for a moment, because she was in love with Robert, but never could quite muster up the courage to tell him. She loved being his friend, and didn't want to give up that friendship. Some days were easier, and some were harder (like today), but she was glad to have such a special fly in her life. And even though it hurt, she wanted him to be happy, and she knew that he really liked Cindy.

"...I don't know, fly casual" she said, and tried to make it sound as confident as she felt when she was flying alongside Robert.

"Perfect! Thanks Sue Ellen, you're such a great gal!" said Robert, not realizing how it tugged on Sue Ellen's little fly heart strings.

So, Robert got ready, as Sue Ellen cried into her pillow. Robert flew down to the Garbage Can, and met up with Cindy, as Sue Ellen drank some hot chocolate and curled up in a fluffy blanket.

However, when Robert showed up, Cindy's face went from beautiful and completely out of Robert's league to being quite distorted in disgust. "WHAT are you WEARING?" she shrieked.

Robert had put on his favorite band's t shirt, jean shorts, and a tie, to try to make it classier.

"I'm wearing my favorite casual outfit..." Robert replied meekly. "Don't you like it?"

"Ugh, I'm too embarrassed to be seen by you. This is the top black tie restaurant in all of Fly Town. How could you not possibly know? Haven't you been here before?"

"Well, no. It's invitation only, and I don't have a ton of popular friends..."

"Why don't you just go back home? Maybe I'll call you tomorrow."

With that, Cindy hooked her fly arm into the beefiest, hunkiest fly she could find, and laughed as she walked off. Robert, dejected and humiliated, walked over to Cindy's house, because he didn't want to face his roommates quite yet.

He knocked on her door, and she showed up with red eyes and ice cream in hand.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, trying to sound as normal as possible.

"No, first, are you ok? You look like you've been crying!"

"Oh that's nothing. Just allergies. You look really handsome by the way. I love how your tie matches your shirt, and those have to be your nice jean shorts! I bet Cindy will love it! I hope you have a great time" she exclaimed, wishing she was going with instead of with that stupid Cindy.

Robert's face fell at her comment, and then started to notice how pretty Sue Ellen really was. It wasn't blatantly obvious at first, but the way she wrinkled her nose when she smiled, and her long eye lashes... They all fit her perfectly. Plus, she had a wonderful personality, that Cindy never even once showed.

"Cindy was too embarrassed to be seen with me. But that's ok- I don't want to be with somefly who doesn't love me for the fly I truly am. I want someone who will play video games with me, and have flying races, nd knows how to make me laugh."

Sue Ellen started to smile, and from that moment on, Robert and Sue Ellen fell head over wings in love with each other. They eventually got married, and lived for a long time (in fly years). They even went to the Garbage Can once, and saw Cindy stuck with a million fly babies and looking not quite as amazing as Robert once remembered. But everyone lived happily ever after! The end.

I have the same issues. It's absolutely f'in brutal in winter time. This is what I've found to help most:

  • drink water - I'm terrible at doing it, but the better hydrated you are the less prone you will be to these issues. You can put all sorts of stuff on the outside of your skin, but you need to hydrate from inside-out for the best impact.
  • Get 3M's skin crack liquid bandage. This shit is GREAT! Stings less than CVS-brand stuff and seals it up to help it heal better. Lasts through showers, etc. Cracks heal up in about 2 days. If you can wait, clean the cracked area, apply Neosporin the night before and let it soak in, and then apply this in the AM. You'll be right as rain in no time.
  • For feet I get cracks in the hard calloused areas. Use a pumice stone in the shower and sand down those areas until they're soft. Softer / supple skin, especially in problem areas are less likely to crack. Your wife / gf probably already has one.
  • Use lotion - I've found this stuff to be the absolute best (for me). It isn't oily or greasy and soaks in quickly. I prefer the J&J hand lotions in general to MANY others I've tried and this is the best I've found so far.

    Good luck!
u/letsgetknockedup · 9 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Boy do I feel you. =/

I have horribly dry skin and my feet have tons of callouses, cracked skin, etc., and I know how shitty it is to go to a nail place feeling like your feet are hideous. And I, too, cut myself with the cracked skin. OW.

Here's what I'd suggest. First, drink more water because if you're dehydrated, that aggravates ALL skin issues.

Second, scrub. You don't even need some overpriced shit from the store. Get some coarse salt or sugar (like sugar in the raw style) and some olive oil. Make a paste out of it. Scrub it in like mad to each foot and then wash it off in warm water. Used coffee grounds also work great for this, but make sure you squeeze all the moisture out of them before you add the olive oil. And yep, just plain olive oil.

Third, get yourself a foot pumice stone. Something like this and they're usually under $5 at the drugstore or grocery store.

How to use that stone? Soak your feet in nice hot water for a few minutes, or use it at the end of the shower so they're nice & wet. Get the stone wet, and GENTLY scrub your heels and the really rough parts with the stone. Rinse it off as needed and when you're done.

And last? Moisturize like a crazy person at night. Get yourself a tube of foot-specific moisturizer like this from Burt's Bees, or anything along those lines. Slather it on thick and then put on a pair of socks designed to be used with lotion, like these. They make awesome bamboo gloves, too, if you have really dry hands.

Do the sock thing daily for a few days and you'll be amazed, but don't scrub your feet or use the stone daily. Go every other day on the stone (at most), maybe 2x/week with the scrub.

Also - side note on the cracked skin. If it's cracked to the point of bleeding, DO NOT use the scrub or stone or lotion on that part. Instead, apply something like Neosporin and keep it covered so it can heal. Never, ever do the scrub/stone on broken skin like that.

u/DragonBorn76 · 4 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I don't know if you suffer from the same thing I do but I'll describe and tell you what worked for me.

I do not have the stinging you are mentioning but I also don't shave my legs every day. My legs DO itch like crazy after I shave and I figured out that the reason is because when the hair grows back , the hair is trying to get through the skin and that causes the itching. I often find hairs are trapped under the skin ( ingrown ).

I found two solutions. Either

  1. use a depilatory cream instead of a razor blade. Hair removed using the depilatory cream has round edges rather than a sharp edge from being sliced off. So when hair grows back it's not causing your skin to itch.

  2. Exfoliate. I WAS using a very smooth pumice stone to GENTLY rub against the grain of the hair as it was growing back. Something like this but I recently found the Korean Exfoliating Scrub Mittens ( also called Italy green towel I think) and these things work AMAZING for exfoliating my legs. These have been talked about recently here on the forum. Exfoliating I find helps the hair get through the surface way easier and no more itching after one good exfoliation.

After THAT I use Amalactin body lotion because it has alpha hydroxy in it which also helps with exfoliation.

Okay , again I don't know if your issue is the same as mine. Like I don't really know what to say about why your legs are stinging other than if they are just too irritated because of what you are dealing with or are you scratching too? I know I will scratch my legs bloody before I figured out a solution and would do this unconsciously. Like I woke up at night scratching my legs.

Here's what I use:

Nonwoven cotton swabs (these are just generally amazing, get a bunch, much better than paper towels and paper handkerchiefs of all kinds).

Volcanic rock
https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Volcanic-remove-calluses-exfoliate/dp/B00BRQEJ44?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0
Sharp light

The hobby cutter needs a very small set of 'scissors', nice long handles. Wash tools in water. Clean the callus and your tools in hydrogen peroxide, using the swabs, wash in water again and dry them. Make a small incission on either side of the callus. Now keep the skin taught, and use the cutter for a clean cut all the way through. Don't pick at it, just nib off any excess scabs with the cutter. Make more cuts for big calluses.

Finish off your work with the volcanic rock, clean your tools using the hydrogen peroxide again, dry them off, and put 'em somewhere clean.

This is very similar to using nail clippers or razor blades, but it's important that you can get into your bloodstream if you go too deep, so that's why you should clean 'em - the hydrogen peroxide is an acid, and will not only disinfect but also clean off rust. These tools are also much better at the job. Don't give yourself scars or an infection. Tetanus is real yo.

Be advised that if you remove skin like this, your skin will be softer and more sensitive for a while. Calluses are not always a bad thing.

u/trenthamm · 2 pointsr/bodyweightfitness

Great tip!

I believe that the item you are referring to that will remove calluses is called a pumice stone in English. This is an example of one: https://www.amazon.com/Cuccio-Earth-Lava-Pumice-Stone/dp/B0018MQHO2

A pumice stone is essentially just a porous and abrasive stone that is good for particular types of scrubbing. Calluses on the human body are a great target for pumice stones.

Hope this is helpful for you in learning English terms and useful to other bodyweight fitness practitioners who might need to rub away a callus!

u/dgretch · 5 pointsr/powerlifting

This right here. He demonstrates using a regular razor, but they make callus trimmers specifically for this kind of thing. I got one off Amazon and it's great. A tad bit safer than using a regular razor blade too

I also use a pumice stone in the shower

Both solutions are cheap and effective

u/Yeargdribble · 3 pointsr/trumpet

First off, drink more water. Keeping hydrated will help a lot.

Secondly, take care of your lips with something. I have a tube of Burt's Bees basically everywhere. In my horn cases, in my cars, in my office, on my nightstand... it's always available if I'm even feeling the slightest bit of something goofy going on. Also, look into different things if your chapstick isn't working for you. Different lip balms work differently and have different effects on different people. Here's a nice article that talks about some of these things.

Third, get a gentle pumice stone. While I do take good care of my lips, I'll occasionally get a bit of film of dead skin irritating me and I just use a gentle pumice stone with some water and exfoliate the outer layer. Did I say gentle enough times?

I use something more like this, not like this.

u/rdavis4559 · 2 pointsr/powerlifting

I spent a couple of years trying to figure out how best to go about it. I've seen and tried many different methods including emery boards, pumice stones, soaking hands and either filing down or using a cuticle trimmer to cut calluses off, picking off calluses with your fingernails, and on and on.

What I found worked very well for me is using Callus Eliminator gel.
http://www.amazon.com/ProLinc-Callus-Eliminator-4-oz/dp/B000PT1R9E

  • Rub it on your hands, wait 3-5 minutes, then file your calluses down with a pumice stone.

  • If you don't want to wait for the gel, take two cups of hot water and add another half cup of apple cider vinegar and an 1/8 to a 1/4 cup of hand soap, mix this all together and soak each hand for 3-5 minutes then get to filing.

  • I prefer this pumice stone: http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Pumice-Pumi-Bar-Purple/dp/B0002KU6GG

What I found works even better and much, much quicker is to use an electric nail buffer post-shower (negating the need to soak your hands first). Any electric nail file will work. You can either use the coarse carbide tips or the sandpaper tips (the latter are my preference).
What I use looks similar to this: https://www.nailsuperstore.com/assets/items/large/medicool-pro-power-portable-electric-nail-filing-machine.jpg

The electric nail file works so much more quickly than any sort of manual filing with a pumice stone or any other coarse object.
u/MikoriCheetah · 3 pointsr/massage

My pleasure to help, believe me!

As with most things, exactly the sort of effect doing both of these things is going to have on you is dependent on you as a person and the way you climb and practice. You're right that using gloves tends to make climbing more difficult - you strike me as less of a casual climber than I am, and so perhaps you could find another solution.

Regular moisturizing might do the trick. Maybe manicures, if they have a service that helps with callouses - I don't have experience with manicures, so it's hard for me to say. You could try something yourself like a pumice rock to see if you could maintain the callouses themselves, but perhaps keep them smooth so that they don't scrape on your client's skin when you're working.

I would also suggest asking your teachers and your classmates these things when you begin working. They can give you direct, personal feedback on how your hands feel. But, as far as your original question, even when I was climbing every other day, I had no problems doing massage as well. Just take good care of yourself, and take a little time off from the climbing or go up easier routes if you start hurting, perhaps.

u/MEatRHIT · 1 pointr/Fitness

Chalk is great if your gym allows it, when I didn't lift at a powerlifting gym I'd keep a chalk ball (made for climbing) in my bag to keep the chalk dust to a minimum. Also if your hands are getting calluses I like keeping one of these in my shower to knock them down so they aren't painful ever, I routinely pull over 500 and don't have issues with calluses tearing, chalk will help with calluses too since you won't have the bar slipping in your hands as much.

Holy crap these are cute! Might have to get some as Christmas presents this year! I lovelovelove Star Trek and the rest is too cute to pick from (Seriously).

u/Neyvash · 3 pointsr/CleaningTips

Yep. I just grabbed one from grocery store on the beauty aisle. It looked like this (you don't want a handle since the pumice starts to erode as it sands the grime away): https://www.amazon.com/Natural-Pumice-Phogary-Pedicure-Remover/dp/B07HHS38T9/

It's very gentle on the porcelain.

u/LaserDinosaur · 5 pointsr/bouldering

I recommend climbing more statically (not slower! less jumpy). Using a strong balm overnight (working hands is good and cheap) is helpful if the damage is unavoidable. New climbing holds or climbing on granite is generally a skin killer.

I have a pumice stone in the shower as well, pretty useful to shear off loose skin. I have this thing: http://www.amazon.com/Cuccio-Earth-Lava-Pumice-Stone/dp/B0018MQHO2

u/roidsonroidsonroids · 4 pointsr/bodybuilding

Smooth them down with a pumice stone at the end of your shower, when the callouses are soft. They'll harden up to where you can't pick at them, and as an added bonus they stay smaller and won't tear off leaving giant craters in your hand.

u/shortalay · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Multiple people recommend this pumice stone on a woman's blog I found (only place I could find info about the subject).
My question is does anyone know about any quality pumice stones better than this or is this an actual top tier?

u/yellowfolders1 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Yes! I have been using a pumice stone for years. I also use coconut oil on my feet to soften them too :)

Link

u/Rebeleleven · 1 pointr/Fitness

Basically this, /u/BeeFact.

I use this pumice after deadlifting and benching days. In addition to that, I use CeraVe's hand cream probably once a day or so.

If my callouses get really messed up (which they don't anymore from using the above steps), I would apply CeraVe's healing ointment after a thorough pumice session before bed.

Also, you should wash your hands immediately after your workout to remove any chalk from your hands. Donny Shankle has a hand care video that echoes what I said above.

u/zeroflexflyer · 1 pointr/running

you sure could... but a simple pumice stone might be easier.

u/supah_lurkah · 23 pointsr/comics

It's there to wear down the callouses on your feet. Most beauty shops have them. Example

u/totallynotabear · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

For general upkeep, I use a pumice sponge. It removes thick dry skin without sloughing it off. I keep one in the shower and use it every other day. I just put soap/body wash on my feet and scrub away. They RULE!

It looks like they're pretty cheap online, but if you want one today, I get mine at World Market in the bath section.

u/SystemFolder · 2 pointsr/wheredidthesodago

The Ped Egg, the Pedi Perfect, and the like are way too expensive. I use a Stanley Surform Pocket Plane instead. If you want something that scrapes lighter, a 6 pound bag of Char-Broil Lava Rock is much cheaper than a single Aisilk Earth Lava Pumice Stone.

u/modulator_c · 3 pointsr/AskMen

you can get pedicure kits at rite aid or any dollar store type joint for cheap, and they usually have some sort of exfoliant stone scrubber thing in there.

something like this will last you forever:

http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Pumice-Pumi-Bar-Purple/dp/B0002KU6GG/ref=sr_1_3?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1425617080&sr=1-3&keywords=foot+pumice

u/Euclidean_Beverage · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

Well 3x a week a do a 'soak and scrub', on my off days.
Steps I take:

  • Soak my feet in water mixed with coconut oil and epsom salt for about 15 minutes.

  • Dry them and then rub foot balm deeply on base and all around. Specifically this one though there are plenty others. I just happened to receive this as a gift once and really liked it.

  • Then I scrub with a pumice. Again this is a personal preference but I have used both This and This one without any issues.

  • If they are feeling real bad I apply neosporin and bandage lightly after a 5 min ice bath.

And then everyday I lotion them in the morning and at night before bed. I think keeping them moisturized helps a ton.
u/hamburgertrained · 1 pointr/Fitness

Buy these. If you soak your hands in warm Epson salt water, it will pull the calluses out a little more and make them easier to sheer off. Also, invest in some kind of moisturizer. My hands look like I tried to stop a weed whacker after a failed skin graft. #Deadlifting3xAWeekProbs

u/totallyshould · 1 pointr/Fitness

I use this one and leave it in the shower, the worst of the callouses come off pretty well at the end of the shower when they're a little soft from the water.

For old blisters like that, that have hardened, I use a pumice stone. You can probably get one at any pharmacy or supermarket. Basically just rub the dead skin off with it in the shower when it's wet. You may not want to do it all at once, because it might be painful, but if you do a little bit each day, eventually it will disappear without any pain or bleeding.

Here's an example:

When I'm trying to heal my raw, torn up ... NO wait, I don't have raw torn up hands because I own this and watched this and now you can too. The More You Know

I use a similar brush to this to scrub my whole body every day. I get my feet thoroughly.

Monthly I use a pumice stone like this. to remove the dead skin. Do all the scrubbing at the end of the shower so your feet have had the chance to soak and soften.

Also clip your nails every other week (or more often as necessary).

It is my opinion most foot odor comes from dead skin and under the nails.
