Top Reddit comments about Gun Slings:

I drove out there and back both days. It was about 60 mins for me each way. I think everyone had a nearly identical GI sling. Something like this.

All of the instruction revolved around using the sling.

Now, initially I thought they had said to use a .22 on Saturday, because it was all 25 yards Saturday, and Sunday they would go to a known distance range and shoot 100/200/400. We did 25 yards all Sunday too, though. I, and a few others, used centerfire rifles both Saturday and Sunday. I didn't see anyone switch rifles between Saturday and Sunday. So about 2/3 of the people used a .22 both days, and 1/3 were using centerfire both days.

They had carpet for people to use as shooting pads, but bringing your own is nice. Then you can use a carpet and pad.

Sunday the pace of shooting was especially fast. Not much time in between courses. So having something like a speed loader for centerfire mags might be helpful.

It was so hot out that I wish I had brought a pair of gloves for handling the rifle and picking up spent brass. The sun would heat any metal to burning temps. I brought a hand towel the second day to use to hold my rifle.

They had a good set of canopies there for shade, but if you have a camping/tailgating canopy you should bring it as well as stakes to stake it down against the wind.

On a slightly unrelated note: I imagine you're going to want a good sling to throw your rifle on your back when you change to your pistol or just between games and I wanted to suggest the Butler Creek Easy Riding Sling. I picked up this sling for 10 bucks at Walmart and it works great for my VSR and M14. Just putting it out there :p

While I’m sure OP has a great company, and his slings are a great product, if your like me and lurk this sub to find gear that works at the lowest price, [I picked these](accmor 2 Point Sling, 2 Pack Multi-Use Two Point Gun Sling/Rifle Sling with Metal Hook for Outdoor Sports https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071W3P55P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ywA5CbRE4X2KW) up about a year ago, hundreds of rounds downrange, a carbine class, and some deltamarinesealscoutairboneeodranger larping with a few other autists later, I’m not mad.

They work good, they are mad cheap, and hold up well.

OPs look more comfortable, definitely more adjustable, and are almost certainly easier to adjust, but just wanted to throw out my two cents.

^^^^^^^^^^sorry ^^^^^^^^^^op ^^^^^^^^^^:(

Thanks! Though that scabbard cost more than my bike did, I know the term now. This made looking for a cheap one much easier. Thanks!!

great song choice. So, I'm on Amazon now ordering stuff for my new Mossberg 500. In my cart so far:
Mossy Oak Buttstock Shotgun Shell Holder
Bulldog BD492-48 Tactical Shotgun Case, Black, 48-Inch
Blackhawk Black Shotgun Sling

Any input in welcomed!

Have you considered a travel sling? less cumbersome than a messenger bag, looks sleek, has plenty of room.

A Kelty sling bag could be the PERFECT thing for you:

  1. stylish, so it gets Wife and Myke approval
  2. muted colors, and worn in a socially acceptable way - won't draw attention, unlike the fanny pack or cargo pockets
  3. plenty of room for everything you want to carry.
  4. Light, durable, repels water, lots of pockets, so you can properly organize it (it's made for day hikes)
  5. Not as bulky as a backpack.
  6. Has compartments for lunch and a water bottle...

Not OP, but it looks like it could be this sling

I bought one and I like it, the hooks are plastic except for the middle piece which is metal, but that hasn't been a problem. They have a pin that let's you lock or unlock the clips. It's a good sling for the price of just 10 bucks. Also the hooks are ALMOST too big to let me attach it to my gun, so fair warning in that regard.

Are you looking for a sling for shooting or a sling for carrying? Since you mentioned the 1907 sling, I'll assume for shooting. The original fabric ones are just fine, as are the leather versions. I used a fabric one for several years in high power competition. Any of the reproductions should be fine as well. Just decide how much you want to spend I guess. This one seems fine to me.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Tools

I've been using it for about 2 years

I love the bag, and honestly don't think there's a better one on the market for this size.

FYI the bag doesn't sit on the ground. It'll flop forward every time

I don't use it on a belt, I put a leather gun sling on it and tote it around on my shoulder, then hang it on things. My sling is similar to this one

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HX5SG7T/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4iA2CbVZYX7PZ

You're going to love this bag.

I'll take a picture of how I have mine set up for you tomorrow.

I use surplus leather G3 slings on basically everything. Can be had for like $9 (looks like that supplier is out, now $15), clip one end on a swivel and loop the other, done. They look nice too.

u/impid · 1 pointr/gundeals

Pretty sure you don’t buy a certain sling for your barrel length because they’re adjustable.

Idk what a bargain is to you but I like this and this

u/sdrawkcabbob · 2 pointsr/guns

Yeah those QD swivels are meant for a different sort mounting socket. You could buy other mounts and adapters for the stock and barrel to use them, or get swivels like this,
and loop through a sling like this.

[Additionally] As for a forward grip, look for one made for the 1913 Picatinny type rail. There’s literally hundreds...

I found this slug on Amazon where you don't have to screw holes into your stock. Best thing too is I can move it to another 870 or 1100.

and add a shotgun sling

And you’re good to go

u/AndrewRyansRapture · 1 pointr/Firearms

I got it at a local store after searching for it, I'll have to find out the brand. It's basically this one in a different color:

https://www.amazon.com/Military-Leather-Hardware-Garand-Springfield/dp/B00AC6DXRO

I wanted something simple and not some ugly camo, big puffy thing. So it's pretty easy and it fits the look of the gun.

Edit: It's this one by Butler Creek

Sure - but just a warning - the Offworld jacket is the most expensive part of the outfit. It's a USMC WEP style jacket, which is typically a Nylon shell and goes for $200+. On the show, however, they used a RipStop material, which isn't as shiny. If you don't care about that, you can save yourself about $100.

I followed this Costume Guide

Buy something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BNLQQBQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002IOANI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And follow this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vqOzfSex94

You will not regret having sling studs on your rifle. I installed 3 studs on each of my carbines, forend left (sling), forend bottom (bipod), buttstock top left (sling). The tri-lock sling swivels are easy enough to take off for hasty sling. The slings I bought came with a clip on the buttstock end, but it was much too loud for hunting.

Even without the Memorial Day sale, they're still cheaper shipped than Amazon w/ Prime: https://www.amazon.com/Tactics-VTAC-UPGRADED-Version-VTAC-MK2-BK-UG/dp/B006LU4KFO

It looks to be this shell holder and this sling
