These silicon tips are really nice and work exceptionally well for me. If you know what size you'll need for your ears, get them instead of the multi-pack and you'll have a few spares, otherwise the multi-pack is a great option for trying them all out to get the perfect fit for your ears. (All of these have the same/correct internal stem size needed for a perfect fit with the BLONs.)

If you happen to be a Sony MH750/755 fan, their silicon tips also work really well with the BLONs.

Some folk also add these small gaskets around the BLON's stem base in order to help get the tips to extend up and out a bit further for a better seal. (The stems are a bit on the short side, so folks with larger ears will definitely benefit from this more than folks with small ears.)

As to cables, the BLON's have a square edged .78mm two pin connectors. (.75mm two pin cables will also fit in a pinch.) However, they won't fit KZ compatible cables unless you first round the plastic square connector edges off a little. This is very easy to do with a file or hobby knife and only takes a couple minutes. It's what I did with mine and they'll then fit perfectly with any KZ cable (normally referred to C-type, C-Pin, Para C, or QDC. This is the one I use, it lays very nice (doesn't tangle easily) and is of high quality.

If you don't want to trim the BLON's connector edges to round them up a bit, then any cable with an exposed .78mm two pin connector (like this one) will work just fine.

Have fun!

Quality of sound means a lot of things, I assume for your use case, that means something that is a little more “exciting”, versus pure reference clear reference audio. Opened back headphones will allow you to have a wider sound stage and help with the “surround sound” aspect of locating other players on video games.

Can buy dekoni pads for a more premium upgraded experience. Maybe a $25-30 cable if you are feeling it. So, $190 with new pads- atm since there’s some promo and savings buying pads in bundle.
research them to see if you think it’s worth it, a lot of people swear by them.

The more expensive cable doesn’t come with a 3.5mm to 2.5 mm aux adapter, so you’ll need to get one of those to use the HD58X’s with a standard six jack on your DualShock 4 or switch.

These won’t improve the audio, but they will add a nice braided cable, which increases the premium experience every time you use them. A nice braided cable vs wire.

They’re pretty easy to drive, but if you feel like you need to upgrade dac/amp right away mayflower o2+odac is like $250 Would be $440 for everything.

Just make sure the music you’re listening to is at least Spotify Premium 320kbps or better yet, lossless.

You’ll probably need a 3.5mm to 2.5mm

u/AV3Nguyen · 2 pointsr/headphones

I got these cables for my pair and they work fine. Amazon Prime is super quick too. Can't comment on how long they'll last, but they seem much better built than the stock cables.

As for pads, velour is generally considered more comfortable with pleather having more bass. I got HM5 angled pleathers on mine (it does take a LOT of stretching) which gave the bass a small boost, which I like on the 400i. Build quality on the pads is fantastic and even more comfortable than the stock FocusPads due to the depth of the pads.

Edit: I found these cheaper cables from the same company. Dunno how I didn't find this when I was looking for my own replacement cable.

u/Identify_the_feel · 96 pointsr/headphones

Had for $70 CAD on amazon. Completely floored. These sound a country mile better than the IE80s I have been using, which were nearly 6 times more expensive (CAD, at time of purchase). The 4 way balanced armature config with single dynamic driver delivers a performance I never fucking expected out of them. The detail in the highs, clear mids and the low end rolloff gives me shivers. Cable is 8-strand braided silver, inline mic only cost an extra 5 dollars. The absolute madlads at KZ fucking did it.

They fucking did it.

Edit: I was a bit worked up over these earlier so now that I've calmed down I'll also add that the imaging is solid, sound stage is pretty good, I think the soundstage on the original Sennheiser HD1 IEM (now rebranded as Momentum IEM or something like that) might be a bit better. The 4-by armatures though really turn this from a good sub-100 dollar IEM system to absolutely fantastic though. The detail and clarity across its frequency response range is just downright lethal. Like I said, KZ did it.

Edit 2: I am probably going to pick up this cable for it later on down the line.

Oh okay.
I know of some mmcx cables that sell for ~$5 but they only ship in our country.
I personally like these replacement cables: https://penonaudio.com/bgvp-dx3-mmcx-cable.html?tracking=5b15fdca7782b
but they're $22.99 for 4.26 feet.
These are under your budget but they're BT cables:

A couple of others I've found on Amazon but they're only 3ft.

check out the monolith mmcx cables. https://www.amazon.com/Monolith-Headphone-Cable-MMCX-Connectors/dp/B079YZTL18/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=monolith+mmcx+cable&qid=1569908121&sr=8-3

I was looking for a more durable, substantive mmcx cable for my fostex and this was the best I could find. I like it, it's nice, feels durable, though if you are using it for IEM's it's gonna be a bad time, way too heavy for IEM's (oddly enough, it's literally made for IEM's, and comes stock on some monoprice IEMS) however like 2 days later I moved over to a fully balanced setup, so I had to get a balanced cable. What I went with was one of the yinyoo 2.5mm balanced mmcx cables.

It's ok, I have much nicer mmcx IEM cables though, like my Linsoul HC08, thing is just soooo nice to touch.

u/tim_Andromeda · 5 pointsr/headphones

The Fiio μBTR/uBTR is a capable little device. Great for making IEMS like the T2 portable. There is no buzzing or hiss when no music is playing like I’ve noticed with other Bluetooth solutions. I can find no fault with the sound while connected to my iPhone. The battery life seems to be about 10 hours for me, which is plenty to last all day for my use case. The output level (loudness) is about the same as the built in headphone jack on my iPhone. I guess I’m one step closer to giving up my headphone jack (maybe!). The cable pictured is a 60mm cable by Fiio that pairs greatly with the micro BTR. All in all it’s a fun setup. The T2s, of course, sound fantastic.

u/Fox_Smith · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

If you really want to go Audiophile, i would suggest you this sweet little interface:

http://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-2i2-USB-Recording-Interface/dp/B005OZE9SA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417115084&sr=8-1&keywords=audio+interface

In order to use it with your headphone, and this is the tricky and important part, you would also need these cables/adapters:

http://www.amazon.com/Estone-3-5mm-Female-Splitter-Extension/dp/B00IWNIZFE/ref=pd_sim_e_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1CA9BXT0GC3DRACNXPE7

http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-GPM-103-3-5mm-TRS-Adaptor/dp/B000068O3T/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1417116358&sr=8-2&keywords=trs+3.5+to

With this setup you would gain the best possible sound quality (In AND Out) possible with your headset and it should also boost the level of your mic, so no longer software mic boosts which sound terrible. You could also upgrade later to better microphones, or plug in an instrument. Also you can attach Speakers and switch between them and the Headphone outlet, and the 2 even got different Volume settings! It has a really really really low latency (around 2-4ms) and can output at studio quality (96khZ, 24 bit) And before plugin in your mic be sure to turn off phantom voltage, otherwise you will grill your mic!

u/olbaze · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

You can just look up in Amazon with something like "Sennheiser HD598 replacement cable" and you'll find what you need, such as this first party cable or this 3m third party one. Naturally, the first party cable doesn't come in various lengths as it's literally a replacement part. You can also find videos on YouTube where people mod their HD558s or 598s with a 2.5mm-to-3.5mm adapter so that it'll be compatible with a wider range of cables. You might also get something by looking up Audio-Technica's cables, I believe the popular ATH-M50x uses a 2.5mm-to-3.5mm cable.

In the future, if replacement cables are part of your purchase decision, you need to look up the availability and type of cable. For example, the AKGs that I have use a mini-XLR-to-3.5mm cable and Beyerdynamic uses 3.5mm in some of their headphones.

u/prajaybasu · 1 pointr/headphones

I would rather suggest the FiiO RC-MMCX1s + BTR1 combo.
It works perfectly fine as a Bluetooth earphone - and you get the option of using a 3.5mm jack in case your battery runs out.

Unlike RC-BTMMCX, BTR1 supports Bluetooth 4.2 which means that you can connect 2 aptX devices (I have aptX on my desktop/laptop and phone) and switch between them seamlessly.
The BTR1 also has a dedicated DAC (AK4376) unlike the RC-BTMMCX which uses the CSR8645's DAC.

The setup looks like this.

If you have any queries about this setup, AMA.

u/anobvioussolution · 2 pointsr/headphones

I have the SE215s and the IT01s - I like the cable that came with the IT01s, but the SE215s are FAR more comfortable. I couldn't stand the stock cable on the SE215 either - so I replaced it with this

Much more comfortable, and I haven't noticed a lot of microphonics.

u/Oakbing · 1 pointr/AVexchange

The cables are gonna be the same at the $25 range. Your best bet is to get a copper mmcx cable from Amazon, like this one, $20, from Amazon. Chinese yes, but it's going to sound the same as your other stock cables at this price range anyway. I've bought one of these before and they're fine and sounds pretty much the same as the stock cables I had.

https://www.amazon.com/Balanced-Replacement-Detachable-Earphone-MAGAOSI/dp/B07F1JRKTC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1541438242&sr=8-4&keywords=mmcx%2Bcable&th=1

u/matthewdavis · 1 pointr/gadgets

2nd vote for the Shures. Shure have a name in the professional line of audio equipment. So if you are willing to spend a few extra bucks for a pair of earbuds, you won't regret it. The se215's are their entry model and pack a decent punch.

I've been using Shures for probably 4 years now. And absolutely love their new cable design. The ability to detach the ear peice from the cable make it much easier to replace the cables later. In all the years of having Shures' the weakest link was the piece of cable that went over your ear. This always started to crack. Which I put electrical tape to extend the life of it a bit. But then the cable would start to short. Shure replaced 2 of my headphones free of charge while they were under warranty. But now I can just get a new cable for $35.

u/kickedtripod · 1 pointr/Twitch

Hiya! So... I think the answer here is "Yes." But "How" might take some trial and error.

  1. To use your Snowball microphone to just go to the stream (not Xbox chat or party chat), it's easy. Just plug in your Snowball to your PC and use it as the audio input in your streaming program.
  2. To use most USB microphones for both game chat and to go to Twitch, it's a bit more work. If your capture card captures Party/Game Chat, all you need is a chat splitter. Here's a video about how to set it up with a similar microphone.

One Problem: The Snowball doesn't have a "monitoring" feature. So Option 2 doesn't work with the Snowball, but most other USB microphones with a headphone monitoring feature it does.

Potential solution: Use the Xbox One App on your PC for party chat. This limits you a bit but might be the only solution that doesn't require significant investment elsewhere (like a new microphone).

Fits and locks right in.

So I bought one for me and my lady plus my friend got one.

I take really good care of my stuff so mine never had an issue besides the clip spring being so strong it broke the clip but both my lady (who tangled hers up) and my friend had theirs break so take that for what its worth.

u/Chimichenghis · 4 pointsr/headphones

If I can make a recommendation, if you're in the market for ~$300 headphones, I would recommend taking a look at the Beoplay H6s (2nd Gen). I think they've actually had a recent drop in price so you'll save some money there, but for good, neutral headphones that sound great with all kinds of music, I highly recommend them. You'll see a lot of criticisms for the 1st Gen as having very little bass but no problem there with the 2nd Gens. One thing though, you'll want to replace the cable that comes with it because it's not that good. I recommend this one which is a decent cable and it actually has a barrel narrow enough to fit into the H6s' aux ports.

u/quidpq · 1 pointr/headphones

Amazon

It's pretty robust and the spring means I don't have to worry as much about bending around source input. Worth it!

u/Fresh-Mango · 7 pointsr/dogs

Good advice. To add to that, if you prefer sound to subtitles, you could use headphones with a long extension cord like this or this. There are longer ones out there depending on the distance from your TV to couch, just search for "3.5mm Male to 3.5mm Female headphone extension cord". If there are two people, you can use a splitter adapter like this. You may also check Monoprice for additional options that are sometimes of the same (or higher) quality at a cheaper price than those available at big box stores or other online retailers.

u/PGleo86 · 1 pointr/AdviceAnimals

I'm not too big into in-ear myself; I've had a couple pairs of Klipsch Image S4 which I enjoyed, but the cables were fairly fragile in my experience, and after the second pair died I couldn't justify the (then-$75) pricetag for a new set. I'm currently using a pair of KZ ZST with the silver cable replacement, which to my ears sound as good but for cheaper. I'm sure someone with more experience with IEMs can chime in and help out more!

u/chosias · 2 pointsr/headphones

for wire i ordered yinyoo cable from aliexpress, they seem pretty good from what everyone says + they are cheap only downside is long shipping ( for europe at least ) look at something like this : <Link to cable> <silver version> i think their standard for 2 pin is 0.78mm (which fits BLONs) just look up some 8-core cables (16-core might be too thicc for most people)

Also I've seen good stuff about this one on amazon not sure from where it ships might be from china too but still it's faster through amazon from my experience.. though there is higher price <Link to amazon.com>

u/bigolddonkey · 5 pointsr/headphones

The Tin Audio T2 cable is actually a very nice twisted litz cable iirc.

I've personally used
https://smile.amazon.com/Yinyoo-Headphone-Replacement-Extension-Earphones/dp/B07DW9KCKW

with several earphones and it's a very nice cable for the price. The T2 has mmcx connectors and you'll most likely want the 3.5mm single ended connector.

u/criose · 2 pointsr/audiophile

You mean like the ones AKG use for most of their pro headphones? Should be able to find plenty of third party ones like this though the quality may be a bit of a crapshoot.

u/EXOQ · 2 pointsr/bose

Here are some amazon prime eligible products that I found.

  • This official Bose one for the SoundTrue headphones but in a flashy color.

  • There also this one, not official but half the price and is a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack.

    --

I bought one of these 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack adapters that will let you use any standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm aux cable with the headphones and doesn't limit you to a very narrow selection of wires that you can use. I'm not really sure if it will fit because, but it should judging by the picture/size. You can also buy this exact same one off eBay for less than $0.99 but it takes a month to get.

I'm probably use a more durable tangle free cable when I get it, I'm not a huge fan of the cable that it comes with, ever since I first got mine, I knew that the cable it came with wouldn't last long.

Why not get an extender? I know some of those super thick cases will provide one because they know most people won't reach.

I see some different styles on Amazon and also realized where I might have seen it before since it's a big brand.

u/wanttobuyafish · 2 pointsr/steelseries

Does anyone know whether a modmic can be used with the gamedac as well? From looking at it, I can't tell if any of the inputs would be for a separate microphone but maybe a y-cable like this would do the trick?

Also, I can't speak Japanese but the guy in this video puts some kind of adapter setup together... maybe just add the y-cable in-line?

u/cartoonleaf · 1 pointr/headphones

I use these https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LNQGHRO/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to fit in battery cases and to take the weight load off the plug. It's not required and the wire is very thick, but I like to be extra cautious with the plug.

u/Togod5 · 1 pointr/HeadphoneAdvice

The stock MMCX on the the T2 is actually really nice, but its a toss up on whether the Blon's 0.78 2 Pin cable needs to be replaced. I personally think the cable is ok, so id recommend waiting a bit before you get a replacement.

Heres some cables though 1 2 3

If you do end up going for the Blons, they absolutely need new tips though. The spinfit Cp100 S M L are what i use and they work some wonders.

u/LankyScroll · 1 pointr/headphones

Thanks, would this cable suffice, or is it worth investing in something more expensive? https://www.amazon.com/Shure-EAC64CL-Detachable-Earphone-Earphones/dp/B0046HADYG

No idea what sennheiser was smoking when they made this cable. My chair actually broke the adaptor, so I bought this cable to replace it. and it's pretty great (correction it's 3m for this one, which is much more manageable with my setup, since my PC is about 2m away, with some breathing room.)

Oh, and the 1.2 meter version

I bought a similar cable from them the other day. It works well, I recommend it.

I'm not sure how the sound quality will be, but it should work. I found a few cheaper alternatives if you have prime. The second one should be plug and play with your headset.

I had my mp3 player in my back pocket and somehow i sat down in such a way that the jack itself bent like 45 degrees. I straitened it out but no dice. Both drivers work only if you press down on the jack. So i would just walk around with my player in hand pressing down on the jack. Bought v-moda m80s and the se215s have just been sitting there.

This cable works https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N20Z6QZ?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_t2 I got it and it is much better than the stock.

Pretty similar to the stock cable of iBasso IT01 but braided differently. If you want to see the real picture, check out the review section on their aliexpress

VModa boom pro has a 3.5mm connection, so unless you mod your Sennheiser, they won't work. Sennheiser uses 2.5mm, vice 3.5mm. But, there is a VModa boompro like option...

Now that I haven't researched- and I have three cables already.

This cable may fit the bill:

My T2's just came in the mail so take this as a grain of salt considering I've only burned them in for about an hour so far. Right off the bat, the cable gave me mixed feelings. I love the 3.5mm end, it feels sturdy and looks amazing, but the rest of the cable was 'eh'. It's extremely flimsy compared to the Yinyoo 2-pins I have for my KZ's. The KZ stock cables aren't fancy by any means but they've been holding up for a few years of daily use extremely well. TinAudio might just be cutting cost on the cable to balance out the drivers themselves.

I've read a bunch of reviews on these before making the jump on them, and the general consensus was that (apart of practically 'no bass') you should consider investing in a new cable by Yinyoo. I have these sitting in my cart. Not as aesthetically pleasing, but as long as they hold up that's what I'm banking on.

Sure, there are lots of replacement cables available. This one looks decent:

I see these headphones on Amazon

Is this the correct upgrade cable?

What makes that cable so much better?

u/Imlulse · 1 pointr/headphones

Yinyoo on Amazon? There's probably something cheaper on Ali or w/e.

There are quite a few options on German Amazon including a well known one from FiiO. It is not great but at a 9.90 Euro price it is hard to beat:

I had one of these: First the volume knob started to wobble, and it would make cracks and pops through both input and output anytime I'd use it. Then the wire started to come apart internally after about a year, i.e. the warranty period. Happened much sooner for a friend of mine.

The design is brilliant, but I can't personally recommend them. I'd be more inclined to suggest something from Lovinstar, Sukira, or KetDirect, but they all have problems too.

6 core

8 core

The 6 core doesn't have ear hooks and I thought I'd give that a try. The 8 core does have the ear hooks.

There was also a coupon attached to the item that took $5 off the price for me. Not sure if it shows anymore.

This is the set i use. Decent length for what i am using them for. worst case scenario you could do is buy an extension cord, might be cheaper if you have a pair of headphones you like.

Here is this. 12 feet for $5 which isn't bad

Edit: added more information. hit the button a tad to quickly.

Or if you prefer black, like the one that came with your SE 215: https://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-Replacement-Detachable-Earphone-MAGAOSI/dp/B07F1JRKTC/

The quality is fine. I actually found that the cable that came with my SE215 has significantly more crosstalk (audibly so) then any aftermarket cable I've tried. I know people say cables don't really matter, but I say quality control does and cables can have defects such as this, whether it's through poor assembly or faulty winding or whatever.
