They were similar to these but black. They were an old set so they were pretty dull. The very tip was the only sharp point.

I have two setups for different situations. For the hog field bag, I have a rope, game bag (cheese cloth bag for flies), rubber gloves, bandaid, bags, and http://www.amazon.com/Smith-Wesson-SWCAMP-Campfire-Campknife/dp/B000UUTB14. Not the nicest, but the cleaver can skin as well as chop ribs. I sometimes take other knives in place of the smaller ones of the set. This bag is for over 1 mile recoveries.
If I'm near a truck, I have bigger bag that contains the field bag, also has a scale, a zipper gut hook, first aid, commercial grade dexter russel knife, gambel, pulleys, re-edger and sharpening steel, and a trash knife for cutting through joints as I personally don't like to saw the bones.

Texan Knives sells on Amazon and their own site. It doesn't seem like true Damascus steel, though. Most likely Pakistani in origin.

I ordered the hells forge HF2. At first I just wanted something for heat treating knives. But a buddy of mine got me hooked on doing more blacksmithing. He and I will be building a couple (one for him and one for me) larger forges with ribbon burners. But for now this one will do everything I need it to.

The laws in your state changed recently. It may be difficult to determine. What do you want for her, a knife for safety and to use as as tool. I think assisted opening knives are legal. I would suggest that, in an emergency being able to open your knife one handed is important. You can get about any knife you want, some may be illegal to carry concealed.
