You can set out the drinks in these beakers!

You can put pixie stick sugar (or soda?) in these test tubes!

They can all wear these safety goggles that come in a 12 pack!

They can all play Mouse Trap!

You can get this 24-pack of magnifying glasses and set up a scavenger hunt around the house, leading them all to a room where they work together to make an exploding volcano!

You can use these syringe pens as party favors.

These alien test tubes would make great centerpieces/party favors as well! This would probably be the coolest thing at the party. :D

And here are some more party favors - test tube bubbles!

Hope that helps! She sounds like an awesome kid. My daughter just turned 8 and she would have loved a party like this too! :)

u/HedgehogKnits · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I recommend this and these
It’s a set of vials and syringes. I would recommend getting a vial holder as well. That way, you have all the vials in one places and are not as likely to spill. The vials are nice because you can test small batch mixtures. Label the tops of the vials and keep a notebook. Rhodia is good or something else that can show off sheen. This way, you can more down the vial designation, the proportions, the inks used and what the resulting color looks like.

Another thing you would want to learn about is color therapy because a cool yellow mixed with a warm blue will give you a different green than a warm yellow mixed with a cool blue. Rot dye has a great mixing chart that is a wonderful resource for color mixing.

Beyond that, different inks interact and react in sometimes unexpected ways when mixed, which is another reason to have small vials to see what the reactions are and if the ink start to separate or do something else unusual.

You can get lots of cute ideas from The Container Store, if you're also in the need for storage on top of the vanity.

One of my favorite options is a magnetic board also. You can either get them like this off Etsy, or you can buy a magnetic board at Michaels/Home Depot with some small magnets and DIY. I'm fond of just a plain magnetic board with no covering, too. Looks kind of ... I don't know, rustic? Is that the word? It's really easy to do and ends up saving you counter space.

There's also Fold-out type desks that will save you space. I know you said you now have the room for a full vanity, but space savers give your floor space a clean, modern feel that I personally like. You could even stick a cute lounge chair under it to be used as your makeup chair and reading chair depending on the time of day. :)

If you won't find yourself refinishing an older product, my only concerns would be squeaky drawers (I get goosebumps just thinking about that noise, ew, ew, ew) and paint flaking off if it's previously been painted. Neither of those might bother you. If you can find something kickass at a garage sale or antique shop, that's awesome.

Edit: Don't forget about cake stands for perfumes or other jarred liquids as well. This one is a little gaudy, but you get the idea.

Spice racks for nail polish storage.

Test tube racks for brush storage.

Did I go way off topic? You asked about vanities, and I went mostly with accesorries. Oop.

u/MemoryEbeling · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I get mine from Amazon, but I also use a lot of tubes. Instead of inking up my pens from bottles, I only use sample vials (or something like a TWSBi inkwell for my larger pens). It's a great way to avoid contamination of your ink. We live in a pretty moldy area, so I"m always concerned about fuzz on the pens syndrome.

Note: there are other types of tubes that are on eBay, but these cryotubes are by far the best. The other clear ones can't have 5ml unless you fill it to the brim, making a mess of things. These tubes are exactly like the ones sold on Goulet pens, only it has blue lids instead of clear.

If you'd like a rack for your sample vials, here's a link to the one that I purchased. It is identical to hte ones sold on Goulet.

I'm ready for this question! I have a whole bookmark tab because I'm planning on building a vanity and redoing all of my storage. I'll give you a sneak peak into it (; Let me know if you want more! I have a bit more than a dozen of these things saved.

First up, acrylic drawer organizers!. Much cheaper than most other competition I've seen. I use these to house blush and bronzer and whatnot. If you guys can find a flaw in the first one I linked please let me know since that is what I'm planning on buying!

For samples, lots of people go for ammo boxes but I'm thinking of buying test tube racks/cases such as this or this. There's also a stainless steel options of the later version that look really pretty but are much more expensive and since these will be in drawers...I don't care quite that much.

If you do go for ammo boxes, however, this particular box has been mentioned several times in the past. It won't fit the longer or short and fat samples, but it'll do fine for most others. I don't care for it because of the color options, to be quite honest about it. It's a superficial thing and if you don't care I've seen many great reviews of this box.

For full-sized bottles, I've seen people use cake stands and pretty trays but since perfumes are light sensitive I plan on hanging a spice rack like this one inside a cabinet. Really you can hang it anywhere as long as it's out of light and humidity (so not in your bathroom!).

u/youaintnoEuthyphro · 1 pointr/vinegar

nah that's not at all what you want, it's not measuring pH but concentration of sanitizer in solution. pH strips like this or something with a more specific 1.5-4 range would be ideal.

That said, pretty much any level of acidity is ok, 2.4-6 is rather ideal and I would consider 2.2 or lower necessary for pickling: however, I do not recommend pickling with homemade vinegar. In order to pickle safely you need to know not only the pH but the concentration of the vinegar and for that you need to test the presence of acetic acid in your vinegar, those tests are a lot more expensive ($50/$80) than a couple hundred pH strips.

u/wanderingbluewizard · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

Grab some clean ones from the lab... ha, just kidding. I do science too, and considered that aesthetic for centerpieces as well (we decided to go with a travel theme instead). Amazon actually has a TON of test tubes, erlenmeyer flasks, graduated cylinders, and other glassware for pretty good prices. Here's a wooden test tube rack that looks pretty cool, and there are loads of others as well. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

100 for $9 vs 10 for $3 (+ $4 shipping) at Goulet. Comes out to 9 cents a piece vs 71 cents (with shipping) at Goulet. But remember they are literally on the slow boat from China from eBay!

You may also like this holder: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005Z4QWIK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496098817&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=sample+vial+holder&dpPl=1&dpID=41dcT%2B82SsL&ref=plSrch

It is less than half the cost on Amazon

Both of these products are identical to what Goulet sells.

BTW I LOVE GOULET and do most of my purchasing from them! Always like to support the local community :)

u/klundtasaur · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I use the aforementioned 50-tube holder from Amazon as it's cheaper and larger than the Goulet's. They stack on top of each other in a drawer, which is a good thing, as I'm on my third rack.

And I used to try to cut up little bits of avery labels to put swabs on the top, but then I discovered paper hole reinforcers, and they fit on top of the vials perfectly. Here's what two of my racks look like next to my sample journal: http://i.imgur.com/K39IM2Y.jpg

u/SoapBarGuy · 4 pointsr/wicked_edge

I bought a test tube rack like this one for my DE razors.
Actually mine is the same model, but with only 6 holes... wish I bought the one with 12 (or even two of them). :D

I only own 2 Soaps (Arko and Cella).

My aftershaves are stored in one (of three) bathroom cabinets - the one without doors so I can reach them easily.

In the second cabinet (which has a lock) I glued some tiny magnets like this on the inside of the door, so I can hang my blades I currently use.

I like some items from frugalshave on etsy, like the blade dispenser - have a lot of loose blades floating around.

u/PenObsessed · 1 pointr/fountainpens

Thanks! Wish I would’ve straightened the labels out more for optimal satisfaction! Lol.

Look on amazon if it's available to you - not super expensive

Also, just saw amazon has tube racks as well which would be AWESOME for short term product storage in a hotel/gues bathroom throws money at screen

u/-punctum- · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I don't pH my skincare products, but I do work in the lab and pH solutions on a regular basis.

If you want to get pH strips, it's important to get the ones with multiple color indicators. I'd suggest getting one from a reputable science supplier, like machery-nagel or milipore/emd. Don't get the cheapo single-color yellow test strips - those aren't very accurate or precise.

u/rautiocination · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

awesome!

figured i'd check for similar stuff on amazon and found this: [Karter Scientific 208U2 Plastic Test Tube Rack for 15/17mm Tubes, Holds 50, Detachable] (http://www.amazon.com/Karter-Scientific-208U2-Plastic-Detachable/dp/B005Z4QWIK/)

from my measurements the WL vials are 17mm so should work great

u/chewORcrush · 1 pointr/fountainpens

I use the Eisco Labs Wood Test Tube Rack, 12 Tube Capacity. It's pretty cheap, holds lots of pens, and looks pretty good.

u/TexasHex · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

See if you can find something like these and this. The test tube rack fits on my scale just fine. I use the 8 ml tubes but they go much higher. Be sure to match up the diameter of the rack holes and tubes. Inexpensive, reusable , quick and efficient.

u/bourbonamator · 1 pointr/ScotchSwap

These are the ones I use Boston Round Bottles and I seal the tops with parafilm though if you can find 1" wide tape instead of 2 that would be better. I normally have to cut the 2" tape in half to wrap the bottles. I've used both kinds of tops and haven't had any leak yet.

edit: format correction

u/philter · 6 pointsr/Wetshaving

I use a couple of these wood test tube racks.

They're capable of holding every type of razor I've owned. Plus they fit in my medicine cabinet nicely, and they don't look half bad IMO.

u/lepfrog · 1 pointr/Tools

Just an fyi. The third option already exists by many different options. One popular option is sortimo. Another one would be these boxes which have a compatible drawer type rack like this one. The stool one though I like. I have a stool I use all the time at work that has a platform under it where I will lay the stuff I need. So just having it on board in a drawer might work well.

u/E2TheCustodian · 3 pointsr/fountainpens

I use a soft wooden test tube stand for inked pens and keep them nib up. Sometimes I have flow issues, but like having them visible and protected. Uninked pens I keep in lined drawers in one of these or a pen case.

For less than the price of two shade bottles you can ensure you’ll never lose another drop. 2 because you purchased the one that spilled and the one that you’ll replace.

Happy painting.

u/-Newt- · 2 pointsr/Aquariums

I bought this one for my API test kit and its the best purchase ive ever made on amazon. Is on Prime as well for $6.09.

u/cleberm · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

You can buy them from Goulet pens, they have a 40 vials one.

I found this 50 vial holder, which is the same thing but bigger capacity. It works perfectly. (mine is almost full... I think I went overboard with it).

u/KarmiKoala · 3 pointsr/fountainpens

For anyone who wants one, I have this one and it's great. I like it as opposed to the one pictured because it doesn't have the drying pegs, just two rows.

u/redruffensore · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

Not to take biz away from a cool fountain pen company but this looks an awfully lot like a Karter Scientific 15/17mm tes tube rack. You can grab one for $6 from Amazon if cash is tight.

u/rzitex · 2 pointsr/wicked_edge

This is the one that I got from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I13ZNIC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It is pretty nice. Seems sturdy. Might look at getting little rubber feet for the bottom to stop any accidental sliding. The only thing to know would be any TTO razors will be less steady than a two/three piece just because of the lowered bar in the middle being the part in contact with the wood instead of the whole (or at least both sides) head like a three piece.

Here is a couple pictures I took of mine. http://imgur.com/a/w93ge
(Dovo 5/8 straight, slim, 34c, red flare tip, black handle flare tip, wilkinson sword). There is a little less than 1mm difference between the diameter of the hole and the width of of the straight where it meets. Not snug, but not enough room to rattle.

Edit: Straight razor size

u/parker679 · 4 pointsr/wicked_edge

If you haven't already ordered one you can get it cheaper on Amazon, plus it has Prime shipping.

Pretty sure it's the exact same thing, the stock photos are identical.

u/Turtl3Up · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I just have them floating in a drawer right now also, but a guy I work with uses this test tube rack and it works exceedingly well. I'll be picking one up soon, or one like it.

u/gingermonkey1 · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I use a vial rack from amazon it was around 5.99 and holds 50 vials.

ETA link and state price is now $6.09

I also bought some tiny round stickers. I put one on top of each sample vial and put a little ink on the sticker. Makes it easier to find a certain color.

u/cjinct · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

get a good size rubbermaid container - what size will depend on how many flavors you have

for the 8ml vials like WL comes in, i use these http://www.amazon.com/Karter-Scientific-208U2-Plastic-Detachable/dp/B005Z4QWIK/

and 10ml bottles go in these (which are stackable) www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EDHXTJA/

u/dbe7 · 1 pointr/pharmacy

Get yourself a roll of this:
https://www.amazon.com/Parafilm-Roll-250-Length-Width/dp/B005KDF3X6

Cut a 2 inch square and stretch it over the opening. Keep thumb on top (don't need the lid) and you won't spill a drop. You can even leave it on and put the lid back on, the customer will need to break a little hole in it, but that's easy.

u/Publix_Deli · 2 pointsr/Warhammer40k

> For example, this box set contains almost all the colors you will ever need (other than specific ones). https://www.amazon.com/Miniature-Painting-Bonus-Wargamer-Regiment/dp/B01MTXRUUT/ref=sr_1_4?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1524496671&sr=1-4&keywords=army+painter

These paints are great. I bought the same set and the dropper bottles are perfect for painting with a wet palette. I've grown to hate the GW paint pots. You can also use test tube holders to organize them at your painting station.

u/PenBoom · 7 pointsr/fountainpens

> Because I'm ignorant

Not ignorant, just hadn't asked yet. I use a pipette, others like a blunt syringe, both can be had cheap somewhere like Amazon or eBay. Can probably grab sample vials too. https://www.amazon.com/BCP-50pcs-Plastic-Graduated-Orange/dp/B07BBK3Y4D vials and https://www.amazon.com/Basic-Essential-Bottles-Disposable-Graduated/dp/B073WLCQWD pipettes. $16 and set for all the ink you can imagine, both wash out so you will use these for long time.

u/kathmanfu · 1 pointr/DIY_eJuice

I started using these recently and love them to keep all the little 8ml vials organized.

4.6 and below and you're golden. I test every can right after I open them. Only takes a tiny little bit of the strip. I've tested maybe 25 cans so far and I don't think I've made a dent in the roll.

Especially helpful when you're growing weird varieties of tomato that have an unknown acidity.

edit: according to the reviews, you would think these are only ever used for testing the PH of kombucha or a woman's vagina.
