You might still want something better than the M580VD's screen. It'll be better than your old display in terms of resolution but the contrast and viewing angles likely won't be appreciably better. And even if you won't notice a quality downside to it vs your old laptop, I would say you'd definitely notice the difference between it and a better display. I would find $1049 to be too expensive for a display like what the M580VD has, in this day and age.

If you like the weight, the new Pavilion Power 15 is lighter yet has the same GPU, a much better display (identical to the AUO1441ED panel in the HP Omen in that comparison photo, at least in some units), and also better battery life. http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavilion-power---quad-w--2gb-gfx-touch-optional-1gk62av-1

A Dell Inspiron 7567 w/ IPS I think is one of the better options at the moment if the weight is still acceptable.

If you like the M580VD's aesthetics still, I'd probably suggest to go for a cheaper version in order to fit a DIY screen replacement into the price difference. This is a further improvement from the Dell/HP IPS options, and I would say is a lot more noticeable than the CPU/RAM differences between most of the M580VD models. Note: I haven't seen confirmation of a successful swap with this panel, but to my knowledge the M580VD uses standard panel mounting / connection and this should work just fine in it. It works in a lot of laptops such as the Clevo N855HJ, Dell 7567, Dell 5577, ASUS FX502VM, and others that default-ship, only ship, or used to ship with poor TN panels.

I have a Lenovo Y50 and have overclocked the GPU for the last year. The Y50 in particular has pretty robust cooling and a modest video card, so you can get away with an overclock.

However, I wouldn't recommend overclocking much. I have +100mhz core and +300mhz memory, and that's one of the higher overclocks I've seen on a Lenovo Y50. It typically gets me +5 fps in games. Nothing miraculous, but certainly welcome. I have Samsung-manufactured VRAM in my Y50, which is the most stable apparently. You may not want to shoot for a 300mhz memory overclock, maybe 200mhz or 250mhz.

When you overclock, don't raise the voltage. That'll increase heat too much and risk damaging the GPU. Just do what you can on default voltage.

I've run my laptop this way in games for a year, and it's stable, and temps are safe.

However, I'll point out that the Lenovo Y50 has a godawful TN panel screen; one of the worst I've seen. If you can perfectly follow a Youtube tutorial, I think replacing your screen with an IPS panel will help your visuals a lot more than overclocking. I replaced my Lenovo Y50 screen with an LG IPS panel and it was an awesome decision.

Also worth noting, the Lenovo Y50's default RAM is in a 1x8GB single-channel configuration. Switching to 2x4GB or 2x8GB in dual channel by replacing your RAM would noticeably improve performance and system responsiveness. Even though RAM doesn't usually affect performance much provided it's dual-channel, single-channel laptop RAM is just too slow and actually does make a difference.

Edit: A great compatible Lenovo Y50 screen.

I just made the exact move you did...moving from a MacBook Pro mid-2012 to a T440s. I added an M.2 SSD into the WWAN slot and replaced the screen with the N140HCE-EN1 by Innolux (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075DD2356/). I didn't mind the 1600x900 screen honestly, but had the replacement ordered before actually receiving the machine, based primarily on the reviews of the dim and low-resolution of the 1600x900 display. The swap was simple and took about 10 minutes. The new display is 1080p, super bright, and has great color, and best of all was a simple drop-in replacement. As for the track pad, I haven't done anything with mine yet and may not. Gestures and multi-touch work great on the existing track pad and coming from the Mac (I've been using Macs for over 32 years) I'm used to a buttonless track pad and I really don't mind it.

For what it's worth, I am getting 11+ hours of battery life on this unit. I'm very pleased with this decision and find the T440s to be everything I need in a portable computer.

Maybe im wrong but a lot of people are blaming the wrong things here or are sending you on a goose chase. It is very easy to blame two components here: the GPU (graphics card) and the screen. I would almost always blame the screen, especially on a laptop, because it is easy to break and frankly if its an integrated gpu you probably have more than just one issue if that fails (overheating, board short circuited, etc)

However thankfully there is an easy test. Because your laptop most likely has integrated graphics, and this is probably the only graphics card on the laptop, you should be able to plug it into another screen. If the issue appears on the second screen, it is a gpu issue. If it occurs only on the laptop screen, it is the laptop’s screen.

However, ive seen this about a thousand times and will tell you that it is probably the screen, and it was caused most likely by dropping it, closing it too hard, or just impact in general. This next part im not certain on, so anyone feel free to correct me, but I believe the screen has this type of like pixel or something where it is filled with a liquid of sorts, so if you break it a bit the liquid can move. So even if there is no crack outside, it might be cracked inside.

Anyways, if there is like a bezel around the border of the screen it normally is super simple to fix. Just type in “my computer replacement screen” to google or ebay and order a new one. I recommend looking up a youtube video first that explains the process.

Edit: LCD stands for liquid crystal display- don't feel like looking into it any more but there you go. You can look up your laptop info and it will tell you either LED or LCD. I would bet good money it's an LCD screen. I don't have enough info to look it up rn

Also, your laptop is very standard in what I'm talking about: Single GPU. Do not listen to people telling you to remove your GPU, this is a bad idea as it is literally the only reason a picture appears on your laptop. The number you gave me didn't yield specific results however, so like I only have a rough idea of what type of laptop you have. They're all pretty similar anyways though, and what I said about GPU's and screens still applies to whatever model you could possibly have.

If I am totally correct on your laptop type, this new(?) screen would work, and it's about the same price as on ebay. If I had more information I could probably tell you exactly what to buy, but I am not certain as to the exact model you own and would not recommend buying this unless you are certain you can do the repair and are certain it is the proper screen. But, this shows you are looking at a 40$ upgrade on your own, or possibly more at a store. I would need your model number of the laptop, google how to find that just like "dell model number" or something idk. Feel free to ask questions or help.

u/MonkeyDFreecs · 3 pointsr/GamingLaptops

I own the G3 with those exact specs, yes it is good but I recommend you upgrade to 16GB ram because 8GB is starting to become dated especially after I updated to Windows 1903 to use Xbox gamepass. I basically can't have a web browser with a single tab in the background because it throws off performance that much in games that use a lot of RAM like Monster Hunter World. The screen isn't really that good either it's 57% SRGB and for games with a lot of dark colors I'm forced to turning the in-game brightness all the way up which makes bright colors washed out and the dark ones just barely distinguishable. If you're up for it or can get someone else to do it I highly recommend you swap out the panel. This panel is pretty well recommended for Dell G3/5/7 laptop users because you can still use your brightness controls on it unlike other panels. It's much brighter and has a color accuracy of 100% SRGB and 89% Adobe RGB. I recommend you undervolt the CPU too it can get really hot in demanding games and easily go 90C+ and start thermal throttling. I undervolted mine to -0.160v and it drops the temperatures by at least 10C on full load so it doesn't thermal throttle anymore and power throttles a lot less.

https://www.amazon.com/Screen-Display-N156HHE-GA1-7RG-078US-Leopard/dp/B07CWSWX4Q/ref=pd_sbs_147_2/146-0225112-8059332?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07CWSWX4Q&pd_rd_r=631cf6dc-553d-46d9-8913-dace12633877&pd_rd_w=tii8k&pd_rd_wg=nrJ5S&pf_rd_p=52b7592c-2dc9-4ac6-84d4-4bda6360045e&pf_rd_r=4FTXQBZ6RB401XVS6HF8&psc=1&refRID=4FTXQBZ6RB401XVS6HF8

Also whatever you do stay away from Dell Power Manager control app. I tried using it to limit my battery charge to 90% so the battery would last longer and now the machine can't hold a charge at all or recognize my AC adapter. I've tried every method except bios and chipset update because the battery is at 0% now and won't let you do it at that percentage.

u/Magnetar12358 · 2 pointsr/Laptop

How long do you plan on keeping it? Undervolting shouldn't cause too much stress if done reasonably. There are some good videos. Check out MeanPooh on YouTube. He must have zillions of Nitro 5 videos about everything from undervolting, repasting, and gaming. Another good Youtuber is "Bob of All Trades" who has a few Nitro 5 videos including repasting. Bob loved the Nitro 5.

Repasting is easy. It was more difficult to pry open the case. Just do it slowly and carefully. One of the complaints was that the heat pipe was shared by the CPU and GPU. Is it optimal? No, but it's good enough if you repaste and undervolt and use a CPU cooler. Also you can set a more aggressive fan curve with the included software. Set it to for high performance and MaxiCool when you game. Use headphones to isolate the fan noise and you will have a great experience.

Another upgrade I really recommend is to get a better panel. The stock panel is around 25-35ms of input lag and only 60Hz. You can buy a more color accurate TN panel which has 1-3ms of input lag and runs at 120Hz for about $80 last time I checked. Maybe even cheaper now. The brightness controls work. It's easy to change the screen. Much easier than repasting. It took me no more than 10 minutes to do it. If I had to do it again, it would probably take 5 minutes.

Edit: This is the screen you want. It's only $70. That's a steal for a great gaming screen. Works on the Dell series as well G3-G5-G7. Here's a review from someone with a Nitro 5 using that panel.

u/brryz_ · 2 pointsr/thinkpad

Sorry for late reply. The screen looks waaaay better. Very happy with it. Swap was pretty easy to do, just be careful you don't break any clips on the bezel. Maybe have some super glue ready just in case any come off.

I got it from vtek screen seller on Amazon here: 12.5" WXGA Matte Laptop LED Screen For IBM 04W3919 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BOGNJ9I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ecXVAbTMP6R4F

If you aren't going to be carrying it around everywhere, the best performance is going to come from the Acer Aspire V3-772G with its i5-4210M and Nvidia GTX 850M.

However, if you want something more portable and with really good battery life, go for the Lenovo Y40. It'll take a few weeks to get to you, but it'd be worth the wait. Or you can spend more and get This one with an SSD right away.

If you need to keep the budget low, and really only plan on playing LoL, you could easily get away with the Acer Aspire V3-572G with a GT 840M and a 1080p display. You could save some money if you didn't care about the 1080p display and go for this one as well, which has a 768p display, but is otherwise identical.

u/username129 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

I'm going to say right off the bat that you should know what you're getting with $100 worth of computing power. You will not be able to run any graphic intensive games on these machines, and running a youtube video on 1080p might be a little too choppy. That said, these machines are perfectly capable of word processing and web browsing, which might be all you need.

With the price range you're going for, you're pretty much restricted to Windows Starter 7 or Windows XP Home Edition when it comes to operating systems. Windows Starter 7 isn't too terrible, the biggest problem to you being a loss of Windows Media Center, and customizing options (Aero Glass and maybe changing your desktop background). Don't expect to play CDs on them either. XP works perfectly fine, but you might feel a bit disappointed still operating on such an old OS.

If you're going for Windows Starter 7, then maybe Acer or Samsung is right for you. They look pretty solid to me. Yes, Atom processors aren't exactly something to drool over, but it gets the job done. Note that the Samsung is 2 pounds lighter than the Acer.

If you'd rather have something running XP, then Asus Eee works fine.

My suggestion is to at least pay a little bit more for Windows 7 Home Premium and call it a day.

Seriously though, you can do so much better if you're willing to pay $300 (i.e. something actually fully functioning). Getting a laptop for $100 almost sounds like a joke.

  1. I know the palm rest doesn't say it is OEM but I figured it would likely be good enough on a cosmetic piece. Glad to have your seal of approval as well.
  2. Sounds like the keyboard should be good to go as well then.
  3. I had the same exact concerns with the charger. If the issue ends up being one that resides in the electrical cord between the wall and the block, I'd imagine swapping that out for a higher quality cord would do the trick? As for the battery, is "Lenovo Vantage" the name you're looking for? Basing that on information found here: < https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht104070\>
  4. I can't find the Google result at the moment but I recall searching the part number listed for the screen and finding a listing that had the same picture as the first one in this listing: <https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V5POVB8\> I guess I'll have to follow your tips to confirm once the laptop actually gets here.

I bought this one..

[Dell inspiron 5577] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFGDD8P/ref=twister_B06XYM29GY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)

I came with one 8gb RAM stick, so I plan on buying another, as it can support up to 32gb.

I'm also going to replace the screen as the screen on this one is not that great.
I plan to replace it with this one

I mainly bought it because I currently have a MBP, but I wanted something I could upgrade and add to, as I can't do that with my MBP. I'm pretty happy with it. I was playing last night on high settings with some basic mods and a few assets (TM:PE, Move It and RICO, for now) there wasn't any lagging or problems and the laptop barely warmed up, which I was surprised about. I don't plan on using it for much else though, I have a few other games I want to add, but since my other laptop still works, I plan on using that one for my work/docs/pics and stuff like that so this one wont get bogged down.

Oh no, not Square Trade. Thing is all those machines on that page were originally sold with three year onsite warranties from Lenovo. ThinkPad warranties are tied to the system's serial number and not the owner, so when these systems come into the used market, their warranties stay intact. Thus the systems you see on that page have varying days of this 3 year warranty (from Lenovo) left. When you buy the system, you can avail this warranty. I've gone ahead and tried selecting a few good ones for you.

In a nutshell: TIFF86 (8GB ram): 305 days warranty left, great physical condition from the looks of it. TIFF79 (8GB ram): Great physical condition, 1600x900 screen (Isn't great, but kinda better than the 1366x768 option), has a month or two of warranty. I guess you can get it extended. G3 (4GB ram): Condition looks good. G8 (4GB ram): Condition looks good.

Both the 4Gb and 8GB listings have the serial number in the pictures provided (see the BIOS image), and you can lookup warranty and display info at pcsupport.lenovo.com.

SSD is fine.

u/KevinHawke · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

After looking through my options, I think I'll be going with either this eBay listing for the LG LP156WF6-SPB1 or maybe this AU OPTRONICS B156HAN01.2 Amazon listing for the 2-day Prime shipping.

Not sure if the $20 difference is worth it to buy a similar panel from Amazon, but I do feel safer buying from there.

Thanks for all the help. You saved me quite a bit of hassle with returns!

I have this laptop and it's awesome at this price especially with the upgrades. If the buyer wants to upgrade the screen this one is 120hz, allows brightness control and seems to have better colors. It was real easy to install to. Good luck with the sale

Hey! Of course!

So the lighting on the back of the monitors is from an LED strip. I have a 5m LED strip which runs across the back of my desk and then loops back around up the back of the monitor mount and then across each monitor :)

I only recently got the monitor mount and I absolutely love it. It has drastically changed the way my room looks. I actually only got one that cost £25 so I didn't expect much at all. It feels very durable and is clamped onto the desk, it definitely does not feel like it is going to fall at all! Very sturdy piece of kit! (This is the one I got, price has gone up a little now! - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lavolta-Monitor-Screen-Display-Plasma/dp/B00B77XI7C )

Hope this helps, let me know if you want any more information or pics :)

u/squaresarerectangles · 1 pointr/tifu

That sucks, but it's not a hard repair. You can find screens, such as this one on Amazon, for pretty cheap these days. If you can follow some instructions, and have a few simple tools, you can easily replace the screen. Good luck!

u/cj3636 · 1 pointr/buildapc

If so, I've got breadboard kits.

I have no idea what I'm getting into to be honest.

But I want my entire wall at home to be a music equalizer and I am going to make that happen.

It appears addressable RGB strips use the nice little 3 pin + 5v power plugs like this strip.

So the most compatible program would support 4 pin (r.g.b.12v) and 3 pin + power.

I have a deepcool cooler and it came with a hub for the above mentioned plug types so something like this plus stips = awesome.

u/Unadvisable · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Those other suggestions are pretty good. If you want to game, maybe this Acer? With the extra money, you can get an SSD (if the laptop is upgradable). Let's be real though, you're not going to get MacBook quality + gaming capability for $1200.

Edit: Just occurred to me, if you don't absolutely need Windows, you can get a Macbook Air for $1000 which is a vastly superior laptop, you just won't be able to play many games on it.

u/CyberJeeves · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

The Acer V5-561G has a dedicated AMD M265 GPU which is about equal to a GT 730M in performance. This is a pretty good laptop for the money, as it has an i5 4200U processor (though weaker than the 4200M), 6GB ram, 1366x768 15.6" screen and 500GB HDD.

There is also an 8GB touchscreen version for $600, and the extra ram might be helpful for your Lightroom needs.

u/SweetTomatoes · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

The Y40 is only $700 right now, with a very nice design and good performance. Battery life is about 6-7 hours.

If you are comfortable with upgrading parts on your own, there is an IPS display panel that is much better than the stock panel. You could also buy the $700 base model and upgrade to a 512GB SSD for $210.

u/Rainingmadness · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Well in terms of power, desktops will always be a bigger bang for you buck when compared to laptops when looking within the same price ranges. If performance is your ultimate goal then I would stick it out for a desktop and get a cheap laptop to remote into the desktop if you ever need to retrieve files or something when you are with clients.

If you are willing to sacrifice processing power for portability then I would go for laptops within the $800 range. They won't be top of the line, but you should be able to play mid range games. Like this for example might be something to consider. Although if you will be doing development work I would take priority over cpu and memory over GPU.

Edit: This might be a better choice for a laptop.

u/Zombie-Feynman · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Thanks! There don't seem to be many genuine screens on ebay at the moment. This screen should also be compatible, correct? Its specs look great and I just read a fairly favorable comparison of it vs the LG screen.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/applehelp

Great! Thank you for the answer. I did a quick search and found these parts on amazon

I have the same model only I paid a little less. The gaming experience is like night and day I swear it feels like a brand new laptop. The colors are much better and the screen is more vibrant, you can tell this is a high quality display. Oh and another thing I forgot to mention is that you will have to set a custom resolution to 120hz using the CRU (custom resolution utility) because the Intel custom resolution tool doesn't work. Just set it to 1080p 120hz, reboot, and you'll never have to touch it again. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CWSWX4Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tRMTCbEG5GADH

In my opinion I always loved the color of the Acer Aspire V5-52PG-X809, it's usually categorized as having a "pinkish tone", however I believe its more of a bronze tint with a spot of pink and mixed in with gold. It has a backlit keyboard, 15.6" display, and has great specs as well. Here's an in depth review on the model.

I bought this a few weeks ago.

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-V3-572PG-50X5-15-6-Inch-Touchscreen-Platinum/dp/B00K2O4S6Q

I bought it for $650, but with taxes and things it was a total of $700. Its a touchscreen (a nice one) and it is very light. It can run any game i throw at it (war thunder, skyrim) at max settings. It also comes with a terabyte of memory so it is very well worth the money.

As a follow-up, I purchased the one you recommended from Amazon for $109. It goes in and out of stock.

i'm a bit late on this but you could buy a 120hz panel and put it in the laptop, should be a pretty easy upgrade, maybe 5-10 minutes. this one is compatible with the nitro 5.

Just suggested one a few minutes back .

Best laptop for $650 but $50 over budget with gt 840m. It's extremely good. You can run any game on it with ultra settings. One downside is that it's with 1366 x 768 resolution. But you can't notice it on a 15 inch laptop. I have the same resolution on mine.

But if you want to keep the budget. Go with this one

I have ordered and installed these on a few X250(s) without a problem ... nice bright display and the installation is ridiculously easy. I think they are currently out of stock on the link I have listed, but I have found that same model from some other vendors.

I also have had really nice product and service getting screens from https://www.laptopscreen.com/ .

I installed this panel. There are youtube videos with instructions. Basically you carefully pry the bezzle off, undo 4 small screws, and undo a connector. Reverse those steps with the new panel and boom, you've got a 120hz panel with 8-bit color depth and much higher brightness. I would highly recommend, the factory panels on these things are garbage unless you lucked out and got an AUO panel instead of the normal LG panel.

u/piroisl33t · 3 pointsr/Amd

Yeah, it should look similar to DRI_PRIME=1 %command% .

Yeah, if you're using the Acer Nitro 5, you can upgrade the LCD panel.

15.6" LCD Screen Display 120HZ FULL HD EDP N156HHE-GA1 for MSI GT62 GE63 GS63VR 7RG-078US MSI GP63 Leopard 8RE https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CWSWX4Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fUP2DbZBA4PGW

There are videos on YouTube on how to do it. It's pretty simple.

Then search the internet for the MSI laptop that uses this panel an there should be a color correction profile for download. If you cannot find it, let me know and I'll upload mine.

I hear you. This is why I got the WQHD on my T480s. It's a gorgeous screen. I want to upgrade my new T440s to a FHD and was thinking of the same display. Where exactly did you buy it from? I was looking at this one under $50 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075DD2356/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A2W496OX3MNYUI&psc=1.

u/IntrepidHour · 1 pointr/Dell

I heard this one is good. $63. 120 hz. Better colors, but its a TN panel so viewing angles are worse than an IPS panel. I heard that this one lets you change brightness, but not sure. 300 nits which I'd certainly appreciate since mine (2018) is below 250 nits.

https://www.amazon.com/Screen-Display-N156HHE-GA1-7RG-078US-Leopard/dp/B07CWSWX4Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1548253476&sr=8-2&keywords=N156HHE-GA1#customerReviews

Your main choices seem to be the Chi Mei N156HHE-GA1 Panel which is what I just mentioned above. Or the AUO B156HTN05.2 Panel which has no brightness control, worse colors, is difficult to find, also a TN panel. It goes up to 400 nits which is nice, but again you can't turn in down. At night 250 nits can be a lot so unless I was using it only during the day I'd go with the Chi Mei.

Comparison.

Unfortunately I have not seen a 120 hz IPS panel for the Dell G7. Otherwise I would've replaced it myself ages ago. Hopefully another commentor know about one, but for now those are your options.

A Lenovo Y40 may suit your needs here. It comes with:

  • Core i7-4510U 2.0 GHz (3.1 Turbo-clock)
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 1TB HDD
  • Radeon R9 M275 (outperforms the 740M seen here

OR here is something with similar performance that was found in the Dell for a bit cheaper here. This has:

  • Core i5-4210U 1.7 GHz (not as strong as the Core i7, however this will not effect the gaming too much.)
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 1TB HDD
  • GeForce 740M

If you are more willing to get a better performing laptop, get the Lenovo. If you want to save more, get the Acer. Hope I helped.

edit; by the way these may not play fully max but medium whereabouts. youd need to spend more for higher settings.

Found one.

https://www.amazon.com/Aihome-Laptop-screen-controller-NT68676/dp/B01ARBZECU

Check the product description. They ask for the LCD model number when you place your order so that they can flash the controller board beforehand so that it should work for your display.

Edit: If you take the display panel off of the laptop and out of the bezel, there should be a sticker on the back of the panel on the paper/plastic like wrap behind it with a model number of the panel itself.

Edit 2: Just saw from HP that your panel is supposedly a 1600x900 on a product page. Since I can't verify for sure without the whole model number, here's a 1600x900 supported adapter as well.

Thanks for your response! I don't know much about screen so I'm wondering what is the difference between your screen and this cheaper screen
https://www.amazon.com/AU-OPTRONICS-B140HAN01-2-SUBSTITUTE-REPLACEMENT/dp/B00GIRSHEA

From what I can tell they are both B140HAN01.2. Thanks!

u/iggy_koopa · 1 pointr/3Dprinting

you need to get a control board for it. Similar to this https://www.amazon.com/Aihome-Laptop-screen-controller-NT68676/dp/B01ARBZECU but make sure it supports your model of screen.

u/anahn_nomus · 1 pointr/thinkpad

Awesome, this is really helpful. If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy your panel?

After reading these comments, I realized my listings are the "compatible" kind and can have 3-5 dead pixels (yikes). I thus found this listing which specifies they will send the exact model and doesn't mention a dead pixel allowance. Does it look legitimate?

u/gezes · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Hello, I'd recommend something by Acer and Asus, after a quick look through amazon the highest rated computer to fit your description would be this one- http://amzn.to/1AhFg7G or this one-http://amzn.to/1zlynkZ

Personally I'd go with the Acer due to the fact that the Asus has integrated graphics which I never like. The only problem with the Acer is that it's used, but the description says it comes with warranty. It's up to you bro, but those two companies are what I'd recommend. Read some reviews.

u/XanthusKidd · 1 pointr/thinkpad

I'm going to pull the panel back out to check the actual model number, I saw a few reviews saying they got a different panel from the one advertised. I was in a hurry when I installed it, and I forgot to check the label. It looks okay to me, especially compared to the old TN panel. My other portable device is a Surface Pro 3, so I'm a bit spoiled for screen quality. It's nowhere near that nice. Vertical viewing angles are great, but horizontal is less good. Maybe 70°? No dead pixels and the backlight seems pretty even. This is the one I got:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JMM89NC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NYnEDb818HTHM

Also, this seller ships USPS signature required, which is fine, but I would've had it shipped to work instead of my apartment if I had known that.

u/lveg · 2 pointsr/Dell

Thanks, man. I ended up getting this one yesterday, which seems to be the same thing:

Does this one work? Like would it be able to do what I mentioned in the post above?

u/iOS_Android_Beat_Win · 1 pointr/thinkpad

Oh :(.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GIRSHEA/

What about this seller? Amazon offers Prime which would be nice :D.

u/SolidBladez · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Yes. It'll need to have a built in controller (like this one) in order to changing the lighting.

u/Miptrip · 1 pointr/thinkpad

This is 100% 1.2

https://www.amazon.com/LCDOLED-Exact-B140HAN01-2-Screen-19201080/dp/B01115CIB6/

and original panels go from 70+ up if you are very lucky you will find it cheaper but not by much.

u/I_Eat_Haggis · 1 pointr/battlestations

Stand looks like this

I have this one coming in the mail tomorrow and other users have vouched for it

It's used in this laptop and the performance is detailed in this review
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-ZenBook-UX3410UA-Notebook-Review.192282.0.html

It's mentioned a fair amount int his subreddit

I believe this is the panel you're looking for. This is what I found for my T440p at least which I would assume would take the same screen. Obviously don't just take my word for it though! I don't quite have time to dig into it properly right now. FRU: B140HAN01.2

http://www.amazon.com/AU-OPTRONICS-B140HAN01-2-SUBSTITUTE-REPLACEMENT/dp/B00GIRSHEA/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t

As for the battery on my T440p, I get 3-4 hours with the 6 cell battery and aggressive power saving if I'm just sitting in class looking at powerpoints and checking email/reading PDFs. Just FYI.

u/vergingalactic · 1 pointr/hfr

Could you share some pictures of your swap?

Also, here's a link to that replacement panel: https://www.amazon.com/Screen-Display-N156HHE-GA1-7RG-078US-Leopard/dp/B07CWSWX4Q

u/That1AznDude · 1 pointr/thinkpad

The recommended panel is the AUO right? I found this one and the seller also has the .3 version and there is also this one on ebay which is .3.

u/AspireHer0 · 1 pointr/Dell

It's about $70-$100 depending on the panel you want. You simply pop off the surrounding lid from the corners and remove 4 screws and an adapter and pull the screen out, and replace it with the one you order. I ordered this off Amazon, I'll let you know if I end up liking it

Just found this and was wondering how gaming on the new panel is? I just purchased this laptop bought an m.2 ssd with the 1tb hd. I'm looking to replace the panel because the screen really truly is not great.

I'll be following your guidance in replacing the screen. I wanted to confirm with you if the screen you replaced it with is this one:
https://www.amazon.com/AU-OPTRONICS-B156HAN01-2-SUBSTITUTE-REPLACEMENT/dp/B00JMM89NC/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Would you mind sending me the link to the video you used to do this repair? I've never replaced a laptop screen before and i'm a little nervous.

u/kaje · 1 pointr/buildapc

There's the Asus Aura Terminal that plugs into a USB header and would allow you to control with Asus's software. It is not reasonably priced.

Other than that, did the case come with a hub that has buttons on it or a remote to control them at least? Silverstone has a product that will give you that functionality.

u/oprah_chopra · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Down af.
What am I missing here? http://www.amazon.com/Acer-V3-572PG-50X5-15-6-Inch-Touchscreen-Platinum/dp/B00K2O4S6Q/ref=psdc1_t1_B00K81O3PY_B00K2O4S6Q
that one has the same specs and a touch screen right and is cheaper? is it a better buy or nah?

u/itbrti · 5 pointsr/techsupportgore

Amazon. I got the MacBook screen for $62.49.
