I feel your frustration!! I have a massive cabinet in which to store pans and it STILL ends up a mess because there are no corrals for each category. Stacking is a pain because then you have to unstack to get what you need, then stack it all again to put it back, then once again unstack/stack when the item gets returned.

Here’s what I have used to organize this area:

  1. I bought something like this from IKEA along with metal S hooks. It’s now installed in my kitchen and I have pots, pans and strainers from it. I’m lucky in that I have a book of sorts where I could place it and it’s out of the way, but even if you don’t have that space available, I’d encourager you to consider finding a place to at least hang your most frequently-used pans, even if you have to put 3M removable hooks on the side of a cabinet or something.

  2. Inside your cabinet, use a simple magazine holder (laid sideways with the opening facing you) to corral your aluminum foil and ziplock bags. Add a second one if you need to stow cutting boards and the like.

  3. Use shallow baskets for the rest. It’s nice to be able to pull out a basket like it’s a drawer and find what you need. They also make various two-tier shelving solutions (although you’d have to remove that middle shelf to use them) that could work better.

  4. You could also consider adding a piece of something sturdy (MDF? Very stiff cardboard) wedged vertically between the middle shelf and the top or bottom shelf to create kind of a cubby situation. Again, it’s whatever you can easily do to create corrals.

I hope that helps! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I have a bookshelf next to my desk dedicated just to embroidery stuff. For floss I just use 6 of those plastic thread organizer boxes. I keep a long pencil tray, like this, where I keep random odds and ends that I want within easy reach (like needles, scissors, Fray Check, etc.). Fabric (whether flat or in a long tube) get stacked neatly on another shelf. I also keep a small bucket of scrap fabric there, which comes in handy when I want to test a new stitch or see how colors look together or something. Another shelf near the bottom holds rarely used supplies. And I have a magazine holder like this for patterns.

As for WIP and finished pieces, they go in this large binder. WIP go in the rainbow accordion file in the front (the fabric & pattern) - one per divider. I put finished projects in a clear plastic sheet protector on the rings. It's fun flipping through seeing everything I've done, and it's nice having most of them in one place to show other people. Large projects that don't fit in the binder when finished are usually gifts or one of the few things I put on display.

I use this organizer to store the thread colors of current WIPs so I don't have to put them back in the main storage every single time I stitch (plus small scissors and needles), and it is also quite convenient to slip in a bag or purse if I want to bring a project with me.

If your stash of sewing patterns is out of control like mine was, Comic book sleeves like these are the perfect size for most pattern packages and most that you find are re-sealable. They also make boxes and dividers that will fit patterns perfectly. Best part about it is that they are way cheaper than buying ones specifically for sewing patterns. I know it isn't a sewing tip, but it is a sewing organization tip. Hopefully it helps someone.

Thanks! My gf actually bought them and I didnt think they would work, but once we put them up I loved the way they looked. Pretty inexpensive too!

Wow, I have that coffee table, a similar couch, and record shelf. I'm also a big fan of that Angel Olsen album. Cheers to you friend!

BTW, two things I did to that shelf to jazz it up a bit. Added some sofa legs to give it a bit more height (I'm tall), and added a magazine rack to the side to hold a queue.

u/butsuon · 6 pointsr/pathofexile

Depending on the size of the print, I highly recommend using Comic Dividers as protection or press them in between two pieces of standard cardboard.

I ship for a living. These packages get literally thrown/tossed/buried with other larger, heavier packages. If you want to make sure your products are safe and sound, you have to make sure it won't get poked OR bent, but a little bit of flex is good. Boxes can get tossed on them and they have pointy corners.

u/polepoplarpope · 1 pointr/comicbooks

You could use these or something more fancy and more expensive like what's lower on this web page to put your comics on shelves. After you bag and board 'em.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KI2QSUU?psc=1&smid=A2N0XDURS3A32B

I don't think they'd look all that impressive, but it's your shelves.

Personally, I think something like this is a better choice, especially if you are a DC person.

Oh, and if you do a pull list, make sure they're titles you are eager to read. Otherwise, there might come a time when you just don't feel like going to get them. Another thing I would advise is that you give at least three months notice to the comic book store you frequent if you decide to cancel your pull list. This way they don't get stuck with the books you were gonna get that they might not be able to sell to others. Plus, not giving notice is rough on comic book stores that are not well-established.

u/admiraltoad · 4 pointsr/ImageComics

I at the moment have a few of those magazine holders like this on my shelf. One is made of wood and has a nice leather cover to it that I use for my latest singles so they right in front when i'm looking for something to read. The rest are hard plastic and hold series collections. I even went to far as to print little labels on them so it's clear what the series is. They hold around 24-30 or so issues in them which is really closer to 2 trades but they were like $4 each so it's a pretty reasonable and affordable solution.

u/Lexifer31 · 1 pointr/CrossStitch

My mum uses binders, with these to hold the leaflets and magazines.

I think you can find them for a better price, that was just a quick google to show what they are.

And thanks for posting because it reminded me I need to pick up some more!

Magpul makes round limiters for their magazines. They are a replacement for the bottom floor plate that sticks up inside the magazine spring to limit the follower from being pushed down far enough to load more round. This is a picture of the '-5' limiter.

You could buy a couple of their limiters (-10?) and then epoxy something onto the end to make it stick up even further to get a -28ish for your 30 round pmag. I assume you are already aware you can't get 30 rounds of 6.5 into your 223 pmag.

Something similar could probably be done with the C-products; something that sits inside the spring or inside the sides of the magazine to stop the follower from going down as far. The biggest issue I see with the C-products is that you don't have anything to attach to, you don't want your limiter to tip over and get tangled up in the spring, but you can't attach to the bottom plate because it slides on and off...The easiest would probably be a GI magazine limiter like this and you could then epoxy something to the top to make it the height you want.

Also, for both of these limiters it may make sense to cut the existing top off, and epoxy a section in the middle, as the top is designed to mate with the follower for a solid stop (if you just epoxy a bit of dowel on there you may have issue with the way it hits the bottom of the follower not being consistent).

u/bn00880 · 2 pointsr/comicbooks

the easiest way would be to give in the cursed comic boxes and frame some of your favorites(maybe rotate them out)

an interesting thing i saw online was a guy who had displayed a portion of his comic collection on a spinner rack

Thanks. Mag holders are just from Amazon. You can remove the floor stand.

I've started 3D printing new mag holders though.

I had to help my mom go through tons of magazines. Got rid of an entire walk-in closet full (floor to ceiling). It took a several months, but it was a major thing. She refused to get rid of any of them because they might have something important, but she needed the space. This is what we did:

Each night she would go through a few magazines and tear out any articles she wanted to keep. We filed them in a file cabinet by subject. She tossed the rest of the magazine after removing any articles or recipies she wanted. She had to file the torn-out articles immediately or they would be thrown away. No waiting until later!

Any special issues she didn't want to tear up were put in a magazine file and placed on a bookshelf.

We now have a 4-drawer file cabinet filled with articles and two shelves of a bookcase filled with magazines. Much better than (and much less of a fire hazard) than a closet full.

Here's my New 52 collection.

Yes, I have a problem...

Edit: As per the request of /u/gamer4maker and /u/onmedz, here's a link to the boxes I'm storing the comics in.

What are the dimensions of the shelf? If it's about 24 inches by 9 inches, you could probably buy 4 or 6 of these clear acrylic magazine holders and stack them horizontally in a 2 by 2 or 2 by 3 configuration. This would give you additional display levels allowing you to show off more LEGO cars.

You could do something like this and just put some cloth inside so it doesn’t get scratched:

I do the boxes. I'm thinking of getting a display ledge, (sort of like this one and prop them up. You could check out BCW's display solutions. or look for a magazine rack.

I've got a felt pocket thing that goes between the mattress and frame. It's got some sort of padding/stiffnet in it, and I clip my Vedder light tuck to it as soon as I take it outta my pants.

Edit: found it on Amazon.

Your other option is this, which I used to hold my own cutting boards for 4 years before I moved and forget to remove it from the cabinet I'd mounted it in. It was cheap, it was durable, and it held many cutting boards. You could easily purchase enough to store everything (again, stud mount it if you can) for far less than the chart racks.
