  • Find something new and fun to do.
  • Find something new to learn about and to be interested in.
  • Learn to cook something different and good.

One activity that comes to mind is birding. People usually associate this will tramping about in forests and fields but of course birds are everywhere.

I have a simple feeder in my yard, and binoculars are always ready nearby. There is a lot going on out there and the more you learn, the more you see and hear.

I have also taken to growing flowers from seed. This is not an ambitious undertaking - I am currently growing a pot of dwarf sunflowers, a catnip plant, and some 'cat grass' for my critters to chew on while we wait for the snow to melt outside. The only infrastructure investment was a $60 grow light from amazon. I'll surely get drawn deeper into the hobby, and it's about as satisfying and low-energy an activity that you could ask for.

I've also entertained myself far beyond my expectations with this. Hey I'm not proud. A cardboard box was the only necessary addition. If you can't keep them all in a playing card at ten meters, it's you, not the equipment. The secret is an imperturbable zen-like calm. I'm still working on it.

As Duhherrooo already said, a straight handle knife is better. I have a squiddy and a triton but I also have a cheap amazon knife and I actually use it quite often. It's super cheap and pretty ok so if you want to get in to balisong flipping a little more i think you should buy one. Its the knife @bfn_jin uses and its often referred to as a bonelisong.

If you like those, especially if you're a SOG fan you would definitely like these... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TXWJ7KA

I like the ones you have a lot. Very good looking.

u/bergerNfries · 1 pointr/throwing

They are Gil Hibbens. I just tried them all out in the garage and the Cold Steel worked great. The Gil Hibbens worked better than i had expected.

u/GuyBrushTwood · 1 pointr/throwing

I use a dartboard in a cabinet, which is mounted onto a plywood board mounted on the wall.

It works pretty good, but I worry about noise, so I try to limit it to times where it's okay to play loud music.

Trying trick shots (2-4x at a time) can get really loud if they don't stick, with all of the clanging.

Also, you are pretty limited with distances.

I throw these

u/Catbrain · 2 pointsr/throwing

I just have a piece of wood as my target, like you can buy from the home depot. Just don't use plywood, use solid wood.

As for knives, i would recommend blue angel 6 inch throwing knives, or this
or this

This is a game based on Shakespeare, that I would use with the cast of my play - I'm putting on an adaptation of Macbeth soon :)

Macbeth - Is this a dagger I see before me?

u/CeruleanCervine · 4 pointsr/mallninjashit

pretty sure its one of these

u/AllanfromWales1 · 3 pointsr/Wicca

Each to their own, of course, but I find my very plain athame - handmade by me, blade and all - far more powerful than any of the ornate ones I see.

Is this the sort of thing you had in mind?

u/ARKnife · 1 pointr/knives

SOG make great affordable throwing knives.

Wouldn't pay less than that though.

u/adairtd · 1 pointr/guns

I would suggest one of these if want to keep it cheap. I would skip the M9 bayonet and go straight to one of these USMC bayonets if you want something a little bigger and nicer.

u/gabedamien · 2 pointsr/SWORDS

Maybe something like this or this? Cheap, looks "good enough" in motion on film from a distance, shouldn't break too easily, should handle more or less correctly, etc.

u/Maurolic · 3 pointsr/balisong

I disagree.
At least six mounth ago I bought two of this trainers and they are great.
After all this time they don't give me any problem, zero handle play and just lube the pivot from time to time. That's it.
And there is more, in my opinion it's a very well balanced trainer.

u/akrabu · 1 pointr/knives

I just bought it

I thought this would be larger for some reason. I didn't care if they were made out of crap steel. But yeah, they are tiny. Like an action figure wouldn't look all that weird wielding one. They are fucking impossible to manage rotations and they don't stick for shit.

Also if anyone can suggest a really cheap kukri or a place to buy decent throwing kukris, I would be very interested.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/ems

The only gadget I carry is a Benchmade rescue hook. There are some videos on YouTube showing how they can zip through almost anything. But I only use the oxygen wrench.

u/xyzzy6 · 3 pointsr/LetsNotMeet

If I were you I'd buy this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BNI4Y96/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I keep one on my dresser. It's very sharp, has 2 edges, light, and easy to use.

Also get this motion detector and put it on the floor facing your door:

u/DSiobhan7 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Ohhh you might like this lighter, or maybe batman knife. Dolla bills!

u/TheAngryStudentLlama · 2 pointsr/balisong

In that case, I'd recommend this one if you don't want to abuse a quality knife with training.

This one is on the heavier side, though, which may not be your style. I wouldn't recommend any sandwich construction CCC's, however, because they all fall apart. You can really only trust high-end knives for sandwich construction.

But whatever you do, don't buy something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Bear-Son-Cutlery-113BTR-Butterfly/dp/B007MAG064/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511545163&sr=8-1&keywords=bear+and+son+trainer

It's completely blade heavy and terrible for most tricks

u/Bohemous · 1 pointr/knifemarket

You should probably check on Amazon to see what they are selling for there.

u/sulaco83 · 9 pointsr/guns

No they're made by Ontario in the USA Ontario Knife 494 M7 Bayonet and Scabbard Knife, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001B6X17G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_dnPgDbGH6MM3M

u/HighBidder · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Also known as a dart gun. This is the one I have.

u/mitchdaninja · 1 pointr/teenagers

I picked up some Gil Hibben 8" throwing knives (I think thats the ones I bought) maybe a year ago for around $20. I've also got tons pocket knives from being in boyscouts. I wouldn't recommend kitchen knives for the sake of they are kitchen knives (I've never tried, so what do I know) I just put em in a bag/my pocket and just go where no one goes and just throw. I prefer the no spin technique, but still, thats just me

I have one. The throwing knives need sharpening and the sheath sucks.

Keep in mind any trainer under $42 (squiddy) is going to fall apart or it crappy
