Save yourself the heartache of crafting. The pricing on these is very good, and the shipping is very quick (super quick in the Amazon case).

If your larp is light-touch, get Palnatoke off Amazon.

If you are a battle-larp, go Warlord Sports.

I have purchased both, and been very pleased with both.

For those interested you can buy a trainer (dull) Balisong/Butterfly knife from amazon for about 13$ I bought this one here https://www.amazon.com/Practice-Butterfly-Stainless-Balisong-Unsharpened/dp/B06XRCGCV8/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_200_tr_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JHV6GSWQK53GXVYZ0HDD and have been learning to use it while at my desk. Very fun but it certainly takes some patients and learning.

Removed for rule 1.

This will probably be the only thing worth while on amazon, and even then it’s pretty trash. Yuzlder Practice Butterfly Knife, Stainless Steel Balisong Trainer Unsharpened Blade with Spring Latch, Smooth Action Butterfly Knife Trainer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MH13KKH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hUNIDb5CQ98A3

Dont get a CCC with screws. Those are even less durable than the pinned construction ones and have cheap hardware that strips. You can either get a bbbarfly or the dragon trainer here https://www.amazon.com/VORNNEX-Practice-Butterfly-Stainless-Unsharpened/dp/B06XRCGCV8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=balisong+trainer&qid=1556557363&s=gateway&sr=8-3

They are pinned, but I can guarantee you will hold up way better than any screw construction trainer under $40

u/LovehandsCardisty · 1 pointr/balisong

Probably the best one out there. Plus is only $10 plus shipping.

That blade looks even cheaper than the $30 garbage they have on Amazon, lol, and the dude only sent him one of the set. Those things can't even cut fruit cleanly.

u/itsJustYvonne · 1 pointr/balisong

Have u tried this one ?
How is it? Would u still recommend ur $10 one?

u/Stacia_Asuna · 3 pointsr/anime

Adds up to around $30. Some assembly required.

Do-it-yourself Torashinai. If you watched Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works - you know exactly what this is.

Few people have mentioned this, but you can buy Trainers online. These are purely for tricks and not for the actual knife. The end is blunt on both sides, so it has no chance of cutting you. The one I bought online shows you which side is the bite handle and which side is the safe-side with the little divets at the bottom of the "blade." Be a bit warned though, this trainer is a bit longer than most other balisongs, but I didn't find an issue with that. My only issue with the balisong I listed is that it's a spring-loaded latch, so it's kinda static. Mine wore off after a while and now it's a normal latch, which is great.

I own the Vornnex dragon trainer an it lasted me about a year.

There ya go.

I made a mistake with the weight, it’s 9.6 ounces not 9.3 ounces. If you want to see for yourself here’s the link.

Just an idea here, but what about that split wooden or bamboo sword thing martial arts people use? The hit sounds worse than it actually is because the pieces rattle around and clack together. Just an option to maybe expand your play...

I think this is it, but do you're own research.

Most of the knives you use to practice and do these kind of things aren't sharp. Well the length of the blade isn't, but there still tends to be points even on the dull ones sold.

In fact, a lot of the time you use a replacement piece where the blade should be. Example

In this piece the guy literally catches the knife by the blade at one point.

> But at the same time things are open to interpretation and study still.

I've seen a few videos of people suggesting how they think something was done. I think one video was posted in hema about daggers in fact.

> You mean half swording or a actual hand and a half sword?

Hand and a half sword, do people prefer bastard sword? Bastard is easier to say but some people seem not to like it?

> The hilt is too small

I found the pommel quite uncomfortable to grip, at least I had read that was one way to hold it and it seems to make sense because the hilt, as you said, is a bit too small unless holding the pommel. But I couldn't find a greatsword that was made of that hard plastic (inexpensive) for my son and I to play with so I got stuck with the H&aH and I got him something a bit smaller that is pretty much a H&aH sword for his size. Well hell, this is what I got me and this is what I got him. I do have a replica of the kings sword (the one that was shattered) from Lord of the Rings. It's even uncomfortable though it's obviously for decoration not for swinging.

Would you send me a link to an inexpensive German longsword? And by inexpensive I mean the cheapest one that is actually meant to be swung and not just a wall hanger. (I'm not ready to drop $300+ on a "decent" sword just yet) Just want to be sure I am looking at the right thing.
