Top Reddit comments about Men's Eau de Toilette:

I like Eau Savage by Dior. It's citrusy and smells really classy. It's also pretty classic. I also have a stash of Burberry Brit. Both were pretty inexpensive ~65$ and get me plenty of compliments. Some of the dudes in this thread are throwing out colognes that cost upwards of $200 -$300 bucks a bottle. Forget that. Save your money. Cologne doesn't have to be super expensive to smell nice.

u/_Dainn_ · 9 pointsr/AskMen

Le Bleu de Channel is really good. Nice and light.

Sauvage by Dior is really good as well. A bit heavier but excellent.

Don't go for Axe or this kinda stuff. It literally smells "nice" for like, half an hour. These are £50 but smell really good couple of hours, especially the Bleu.

Hugo Boss for men. I personally get it at shoppers drug mart but it’s available at Amazon as well. It’s pretty expensive but trust me it’s definitely worth it.

Good idea about cologne. I'm a bit obsessed.

Some options to think about:

  • Thierry Mugler Cologne – a very clean, no-nonsense, citrusy, traditional eau de cologne scent (with a sci-fi twist) suitable for daily use in an office or school or anywhere else

  • Terre d'Hermès – a clean, woodsy, earthy, orangey scent; also okay for daily use but also if you're going out somewhere special

  • Eau d'Hadrien – a very traditional, clean, citrusy eau de cologne that is perfect for guys who don't like cologne. Downside is that it doesn't last very long.

  • L'eau d'Issey – ambery woodsy with some exotic ingredients

As a guy in that age range, who has gone cologne shopping with not one, but 2 girls at the same time, heres what I wear:

Spring/Summer - Lacoste

Cooler weather - Hugo Boss

Other Cooler weather - Gucci Pour Homme II

I will say that I wear the Lacoste a little heavier, and the Gucci very light - when I wear them. I'm favoring the HB right now a lot.

Realize, though, that not every cologne matches every guy. You need to find something you like, and I do recommend finding something a girl likes off your skin. There are pheromones at play here.

Thanks for replying!

I can't speak to Eternity and Obsession but I absolutely dig Drakkar Noir. Belcam's Classic Match has an "our version" of DK that's supposed to smell very much like the 80's formulation.
I can't personally speak to that but I layer my DN with the Classic Match version and the compliment each other very well.

Duc De Vervins is totally on my list. I've also been told it lives in the same neighborhood as the original Polo (which I also dig and layer with Belcam's version of Polo which is a little richer and dirtier with patchouli and moss).

I love Spicebomb, I didn't like Spicebomb intense/extreme, whatever they call it, and I haven't tried any other flankers. It does lean towards sweet on men, but I am a woman so I don't mind. Sort of off topic but on, Amazon has a pretty good dupe called volatile that is inexpensive. It is not as sweet as the Real, but I feel like its close enough if you want to see if you'll even like the family.

If you're on a budget, I really like my Calvin Klein fragrances. I have One, Obsession, Eternity, and Escape (all for men). This is the nice little set that I have. Great to try out which ones you like. I also had Man before as well, and really liked it. Smokey, woodsy type of feel. Solid stuff on the cheaper end.

u/darkus552 · 5 pointsr/teenagers

Alright, so. From my experience, chicks dig my Gucci perfume. My personal favorites are Armani Ice Code and Versace Eros. Lastly, another great one is Armani's Acqua Di Gio. All last for a long ass time and the smell is great.

Edit: All of these smell relatively sweet, not musky. If that makes sense lol.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

It's seems most guys don't care about how they smell. I didn't either as long as I didn't smell bad, until high school someone asked me if I smoked. I didn't, my mother would smoke cigs inside. After that I made her smoke outside and eventually quit. Always would make sure my clothes smelled good and that I always wore some spray to smell better. You get complimented quite often if you smell good.

If any guys are looking for something this one is my favorite.

Soap-Irish Spring. It's clean, simple, and masculine. It's not overpowering and you're a man. Use soap. No poof and cute lil bottle of bodywash for you.

Deodorant- Degree original baby powder. Degree had one product when they launched, and it was perfect. Then suddenly they split their line into gender-based scents. That was bullshit, because the powder scent was low-key, smelled fresh, and it worked. I still buy this, I don't care that it's pink. It works and it doesn't reek of "please smell how awesomely masculine my armpits are!"

Cologne- Daily use: Black Walnut. It smells masculine and deep, it's been my go-to for a while now. Everyone loves it. For nighttime or heading out after dark, try Slate. It's stronger, a little muskier, and smells like you mean business.

Shampoo is a little trickier depending on the kind of hair you have, and how long it is. You don't need to wash your hair every day, but you should be rinsing with conditioner every time you shower. Don't cheap out here, spend a few extra duckets and get some good conditioner. I use Ouidad for curly hair, and it does the job. For me, it's worth the $ for the job that it does.

Axe/Lynx should never be used under any circumstance. That's right, never. It smells atrocious to men and women alike. Never? Really never? Yes, never. Even if you were just sprayed by a skunk and the only cleanser available is Axe/Lynx, you should stick with water and your bare hands before using it. Because you'll still smell like skunk, buy you'll also smell like a axe-using douchebag who was just sprayed by a skunk. That's wretched stink times TWO. It's better to use no soap at all than a soap that smells like you're a drone to marketing campaigns and think that overpowering juvenile stink is actually going to get you laid.

Diesel - fuel for life

My favorite fragrance since first being given the luxury of wearing some of my fathers at age 9 during a holiday in France - 10 years later and by far down the best fragrance to date. I'd highly suggest if you're ever at a fragrance shop and they have some ask if you can try it on, just remember to let it settle once applied for a good five minutes because otherwise the intense woody citrus alcohol smell will burn your nose!

u/ChulaK · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I really really like CLEAN White Vetiver Eau de Toilette. Got it as a small sampler but $80+ for a bottle is just way out of my price range. It's got this woodsy smoky scent to it.

Anyone have this, or know of any other similar scents for less? If it helps, the description is:

> One side of you seeks a cologne that’s dark and smoky; the other craves crispness when you step out of the shower. This scent speaks to both: Fresh-harvested vetiver lends it a crisp, grassy scent that perfectly offsets base notes of warm, woodsy earth.

u/LoneKa-tet · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I really like this right now for guys. I just bought that for my husband that for Father's day.

I LOVE this but I don't think it is anything I will actually ever own. It is just way too expensive but it smells like heaven.

u/-Dreamville · 1 pointr/fragrance

Far, far from a fragrance connoisseur, but..

.. I have a few questions. Scents I've worn in the past - Gucci Made to Measure, Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue, Gucci Guilty Black, Versace Eros..

I am looking for a scent similar to the above.. I may just buy Made to Measure or Guilty Black again.. I am also looking at Versace Pour Homme (which smells like a toned down Eros to me..).

Questions I have:

  • What are some scents like I have worn before (above)?
  • Same question as above, but budget friendly?
  • Is it safe to purchase from sites like Amazon? Example 1 Example 2

  1. They look great, I see a lot of color combination possibilities. Usually with khaki and olive colors I like to throw on either a burgundy, grey, navy blue, or black cardigan/ v-neck.

  2. I would check out the Chinos at H&M if you're in the states. They are a lot cheaper $30.00USD and they offer tons of colors. I own a pair and I get tons of compliments on them.

  3. As for cologne, I use Live Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent I've been wearing if for years and have many compliments on it. You can't go wrong with it.

Lets just answer all your comment history questions since clearly you're fishing for a direction in life:

>Sexy cologne that's attracts girls ?

Smelling good is only a small portion of what makes you attractive. Shower regularly, brush your teeth, wear deoderant. But as a cheap option that smells pretty good, this is a pretty good cologne.

>Does L dopa turn into dopamine no matter what?

Don't bother with this shit. Same with L Tyrosine and Ashwaghanda. They aren't the answer to your problems. You're not going to improve yourself through substances.

>How much alcohol makes you confident

Alcohol doesn't make you confident. It just removes your inhibitions. There's a massive difference. Confidence comes from belief in self, and competency in aspects of life that are important to you.

>Good movies with motivational endings I can watch ?

I'm not normally a fan of preachy movies. But in terms of movies that have a good message, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Creed.

>Whats the best martial art for self defense without any weapons

Running/not being there in the first place. After that, de-escalation tactics. I recommend reading this book. After that, Muay Thai, BJJ, Wrestling, or Judo. Be sure to read up on your local self defense statues so you understand when and where you can use force, and its worth talking to a lawyer to have it explained to you.

>If I have no fighting experience, can I learn how to fight from shadow boxing ?

No.

>Tips for first fight w no experience

Don't fight. Get experience in a safe sparring environment with a good instructor.

>Fought this kid at in class today. How do I hit someone pushing me?

You report him and move on.

>Will phenibut counter fight or flight mode?

No. You don't counter fight or flight. It's a subconscious automatic response. You learn to deal with it through consistent repetitive training which can ingrain learned behavior that takes over instead of the default fight or flight. It's also a fucking stupid idea to try and use substances to prepare yourself for a situation where Fight or Flight is likely to happen.

>Can i beat someone who's 5'8 untrained and has some weight due to fat while I'm 5'6 and trained in muay thai?

Depends on how much training you have.

>Can i beat someone in a street fight 1v1 no other people and no weapons who's 5'8 untrained 180 pounds if I'm 5'6 130 pounds and trained in BJJ

If you're a purple or brown belt, then maybe/probably. Otherwise unlikely.

The perfume samplers might be a good idea indeed! Didn't know they had that.

My truck's official scent is Banana Republic Black Walnut.

According to reviews, it is: Cedar x Tobacco x Whiskey.
