Well, it's a bit out of your price range, but it's tough to go wrong with the Condor Heavy Duty Kukri.

For significantly less, you can try the Cold Steel Kukri Machete.

I understand that the OKC Kukri is very nice, too.

Happy hunting!

  1. Buy these barrel bolt door locks and install them now.

  2. I think women with knives are sexy. Here's one for your neighbor.

  3. File a police report. Don't bother about sex work. Just tell them you've been harassed. Voila.

I don't mow but I am going to order one of these to trim some vines in the back yard. :D

I'd go for this one.

Out of sheer curiosity though, what made you decide on a kukri for bushcrafting needs?

It's primarily a blade designed to be used as a weapon (historians even theorized that its design is inspired after combat blades, like the Khopesh) and in the best of cases as a chopping instrument. It's applications for bush-crafting are quite limited and the blade geometry does not lend itself well for many tasks.

Thing is, if you are after a chopping instrument there are much better, more versatile choices, such as plain old axes/Tomahawks and machetes or just a big ass knife.

An axe, for example is IMHO the best option for chopping wood and processing, splitting logs, etc. It's designed from the get-go to do just that.

As for clearing brush, a good machete or long knife stands uncontested, with a curved blade you have to be extra careful of your surroundings since its much easier to hit yourself, or others with the tip, that is much more "forward" than your grip hand.

Both of these options also are multipurpose, an axe for example can double as a hammer or prying tool with nary a problem, and a knife can, among many other things, be used for food prep or carving.

Anyway, if you get that cold steel one, let me know how it works out for you!
