Alright man, here's my recommendation if your wanting to go prebuilt on the cheap.

 

Score you a cheap Dell Optiplex tower from eBay for $250ish. These Dell Optiplexes in both i5, and i7 varieties come up a lot from cheap due to corporate surplus. They are built really well, and I personally think they look damn great for OEM. I use a Dell Optiplex 9020 as a home server currently. You may have to get a cheap hard drive, or some more ram, but that is just trivial stuff at that point.

 

Then to get you the sweet frames everyone wants, get you a new nVidia 1060 for $225ish, or be on the lookout on /r/hardwareswap for a used graphics card.

 

In the end, total cost should be well below $500 with some patience.

At the £200 pricepoint, you'll be choosing between the GTX 1060 3GB or the RX 570 4GB. (10603GB will be faster today, but RX5704GB will age a little better)

However, for the sake of futureproofing, I highly recommend you up your budget to ~£265 and get the GTX 1060 6GB variant (or the RX 580).

i built a pc last march on a z170 motherboard and an i5 6600k, but i recycled my video card from my previous build. it is a 2gb radeon 7870 that i bought back in april of 2013, so... pretty ready for an upgrade? the primary reason that i'm looking to upgrade is that i'm finally pulling the trigger in water cooling and i want a card that i can find a water block for. EKWB offered one for my current card but they no longer do.

i think i have decided on the GTX 1060 either in the 3gb version (currently $200) or the 6gb version (currently $260). I'd like to keep it under $250 but if i'm really going to see a big enough performance benefit with 6gb over 3gb i'll adjust the 'budget' upwards by $10.

these days i am primarily concerned with pushing multiple monitors, and i play both WoW and FFXIV. the card is still doing me pretty good, so if there's a good reason to hold off for awhile, i could just shelf the idea.

If you're concerned about reliability keep in mind that the reported issues with the 10 series cards has been no higher than with the previous generations. edit: To note, a higher end graphics card will more than likely be bottlenecked by the CPU you have depending on the software you're running. So you may not see the maximum performance until you upgrade that. Still a valid decision in my mind, as one day when you decide to upgrade your CPU you'll have a GPU that's ready for it. It's the right way to go if you're upgrading one part at a time as they age.

Did you build your PC yourself or what? Top Tier graphic cards are around ~300€ and those are running all games on pretty much the highest settings. If you're talking about the Nvidia Titan X then yeah that costs over $900 but that's like the most powerful card we have around which you definitely won't need to play your games. Here for example the Nvidia Geforce 1060 a very decent card for only ~$200.
What build did you get ? I can't imagine spending more than $1000 and not have a top tier rig.

If I were in your position, I just wouldn't purchase a new GPU with less than 1060 performance. GPU market is pretty bonkers right now and it's not a good time to buy them unless you've got 1070/80ti money available to you.

I would drop the cpu cooler since the i3-6100 comes with one and that will be sufficient enough. The gtx 1060 is better than the 1050ti for only $50 more. Also the wifi card you have is overpriced and this does the same for cheaper. And I doubt you really need a cd writer but your choice. This is also a cheaper psu with close to the same wattage.

Your motherboard is completely fine. You could upload it if you want but you wouldn't need to. I would just get a GeForce GTX 1060 and call it a day.

Also you only have to get a new version of Windows if it is the OEM version.

The Tomahawk costs $100 (after rebate) in micro center, but the bundle price with CPU lowers the price by $50. But, the bundle iself with this specific motherboard and CPU is not listed on the site (this mobo + Ryzen 7 1700 is, or Ryzen 5 1600 with other B350 mobos)

I've been looking at getting a new card but I don't know what is worth upgrading to, preferably I still want to maintain a low TDP so I'm looking at the 1060. I'm not completely knowledgeable in GPUs, although I see higher numbers when comparing their specs I always recall hearing that the 950 wasn't worth upgrading to (when it first came out) and that had higher specs than the 750ti. The GPU and CPU pairing seems fine to me for now. Make sure to overclock your ryzen, its very easy and definitely worth looking into. Upgrade to at least a 1060 3gb. The 760 seems to be OK for 1080p, but I honestly can't recommend it or anything lower than a 1050Ti 4gb for 1080p 60hz. I would say your upgrade path could go as follows in order of first to last purchase:

Where is it indicated that the 3GB card has fewer CUDA cores? Naming them both 1060 when they are actually different GPU configs is misleading. At release people would have heard stuff like "the 1060 is better than the 480" without realising that it only applies to the 6GB card.

I'm not some kind of fanboy, I've owned more Nvidia cards than AMD, and I recently helped my brother pick out a 1060 6GB ACX 3.0.

The CPU is good enough for the game you will be playing, the motherboard is good enough and more expensive ones sell you feature you don't need. The RAM will do you fine and is enough for any game you want and the GPU will be perfect for 1080p with 3GB of VRAM. For storage, go with a cheap 500GB HDD but I would certainly recommend an SSD for the future. The power supply will do you fine no matter what anyone else says, trust me (powers my R9 280X which is a LOT more power hungry).
I would recommend looking round Ebay, Facebook selling sites etc etc for any used components or 'starting points' with Ebay being the best bet in my opinion due to the massive amounts of sellers. If you see a 6600 or a 6600k for the same or less than on Amazon, snag it up and make sure to have a CPU cooler with it (stock will do you again, I have experience with 6600/6500 running on stock coolers and it's perfectly fine)

EDIT BEFORE POSTING : 'Bomba' recommended an 8GB RX 470 - that's pointless for 1080p in my opinion and having a Pentium Dual core isn't something anyone would crave. I also have bad experience with Corsair PSUs but I haven't tried the 450W.
