I get about 3-4 days worth of heavy usage out of these before needing a recharge.

I guess iphone7 users have lost their fucking minds then.

LG tone for me. 12 hours of playback, love how it sits on the collar so im not pawing at my ears for buttons, and I've had them for a year of a half at 30 hours plus use a week. Great investment so i dont continally have to buy replacement wired headphones, allows ease of movement while at a computer, and has revolutionized work for me

It doesn't make sense. You still need a DAC for phone calls and speaker output. There are ways of making the 3.5mm jack thinner that don't compromise usability.

I don't have a stereo in my car at the moment. I have a Bluetooth speaker instead. Thanks to interference, the music doesn't always play at the right speed, speeding up once all the packets come through. This isn't an issue with the 3.5mm jack.

There's already Bluetooth headphones on the market you can get for your runs, my weight lifting neighbor loves these. You can use these and still have a 3.5mm jack.

sure, I have two sets...one for work and one for home.

Both are LG Tones.

One model is HBS-750: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-HBS-750-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B00FO0IHMY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1452008050&sr=8-3&keywords=lg+tone

The other model is HBS-730: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-HBS-730-ACUSBKK-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B009A5204K/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1452008050&sr=8-6&keywords=lg+tone

Both models get around 10 hours battery life consistently for me. I've only rarely had the battery run out during a day's use. I've had them for probably 3-5 years. In that time I've only had one failure and that's because the earphone cord got caught on something and pulled out of the neck strap. It was my home unit and I listen to them on and off throughout the day while I do chores, it most likely caught on something I was carrying on my shoulder from the driveway to the back yard.

Eventually I'll be upgrading at least one of them to a newer model. I really want the one with retracting earphones but it's too pricey for me. Note that for all the models the earphones stick back into the neck base via a magnet, the one I'm talking about keeps the cord internally and retracts it when you put the headphones away.

I frequently rely on things to adjust my hearing. Noise bothers the shit out of me.

I have a wireless bluetooth stereo headset. It connects to my phone. I can listen to music, or talk on the phone. Damn thing is awesome. Standing in line in a bank and the incessant babbling from other customers getting to you? No problem! Pop in the headphones, play Rage Against the Machine on the phone, and you are in your own little world. There is nothing like playing "This is the End" by the Doors over and over and over while shopping at Costco. It really changes the dynamic of the experience.

Or you can just shove them in your ears without music as a quick buffer against inane prattling from other humans/noisy machines.

---

I've got little foam earplugs. Each is a small foam cylinder/hot dog shape. You squeeze it in your fingers, shove in ear. It expands and really blocks the sound. You might need to get used to them, but once you do they are awesome for sleeping.

You can buy bags of these cheap - like a couple of bucks. They are semi-disposable. There apparently are different grades too - I once got a hold of some industrial ones with super-sound-suppression abilities that made me feel like I was deaf. It was a little freaky at first.

Some aren't foam - they are rubber. Some people like these better I guess.

Look in health and beauty isles, tool isles, or hunters/shooters use them too.

---

Speaking of shooters... I also have a few pairs of "headphone" sound suppressors. They come in all kinds of sizes and options and are a little easier to deal with than earplugs.

---

There is a new generation of devices available, and more to come. They play sound BUT they have tiny microphones near your ears that pick up ambient sound. That soundwave is sent to processors that instantly invert the wave and play it back on the earbuds. This is noise cancellation.

I don't own any of these, but I've had my eye on them for some time. There are a few kickstarter ones that I may buy at some point. My hope is they would allow me to control sound with my phone. For example - I could be in a noisy restaurant and adjust the headphones to play the sound from the person I am talking to, but block out all the other noisy shit in the room. Man that would kick ass.

First of all, congrats on getting your butt off the couch! :)

The headphone thing is a problem for a lot of people but if you have a little bit of money to spend I can recommend 2 good options to fix this.

  1. Headphones that 'clip' onto your ear like these: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Adjustable-Headphones-SHS4700-28/dp/B003DKL57G
I own a pair of these and they're not bad, but if you're sensitive about frequency balance you might need to EQ them some to get a clear sound.

  2. Bluetooth headphones: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00FO0IHMY
I just ran with a pair of these and it was fine. They're very lightweight but if you are sweating buckets at this point it might be best to not do these. They are sweat resistant but you can't go pouring water on your head or anything with these on.

I'd also look at getting an armband for your phone so you're not holding it. I also recommend using Runkeeper to program your runs and track your progress. But do NOT go to the week 2 workouts if you are still struggling with week 1. It's ok to repeat weeks if you can't complete them. Personally I struggled with weeks 5-7 and repeated all of them at least once but I finally made it. Hang in there! Keep us updated on your progress!

I've been using these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FO0IHMY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

I wear them at work and when I workout. The sound quality is great, the battery lasts for several days, they hide easily under a collared shirt....

u/MagnifloriousPhule · 2 pointsr/audible

If you just want something that you can be wearing while listening to Audible, might I suggest these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FO0IHMY/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687602&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0052YFYFK&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=17Z7CYYVMS2XQ604Q0V3

There are smartwatches now with headphone jacks, but I'm not sure of their compatibility with Audible (don't know if Audible would play audio through it)

However, a bluetooth headset will give you the same functionality as the app (pause, play, skip +/- 30s) and you don't need to worry about your phone being right there.

u/PorscheCoxster · 2 pointsr/xboxone

This type is perfect if you're running or working out. I've been using this style for about 6 years now. This is my current go to.

u/mrbigbusiness · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

I wish the buttons where a bit bigger though. I have my phone mounted on my bars, and listen to podcasts. I have a boring stop-and-go freeway commute.

u/twomsixer · 2 pointsr/Fitness

Surprised to not see these recommended yet, they're usually near the top when this question gets asked. the LG Tone Pros

I dont own the 750 model, I own the 730 and have owned the 700 in the past. They're my favorite, they are bluetooth though (dont know if that matters to you or not).

The only downside to these is if you're doing something that has you laying down moving up and down a lot (like situps or something), sometimes it falls off your neck)

u/PrivateCaboose · 2 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

Unfortunately this was 4+ years ago, and I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the brand names I was buying. I vaguely remember having a pair of SkullCandy earbuds that worked pretty well, and I think there were a few pairs of cheap Sony earbuds that I liked. I've since moved on to using Bluetooth earbuds since 90% of my breakage issues came from the cord getting caught on things as I was working and over enough time that would eventually FUBAR either the connection at the jack or at the earbuds themselves. I've been using the same pair of LG Bluetooth headphones for well over a year now with no complaints other than it takes a while to get used to having the unit draped around your neck (I usually just tuck it under my shirt so I don't look too goofy).

u/ThatActuallyGuy · 1 pointr/Surface

You could maybe try something like these, they're what /u/hchen102 recommended and at least according to the Amazon listing can get up to 10 hours of music time. They're less conspicuous than over ear headphones if that's the issue, but admittedly more so than standard bluetooth buds like the Anker ones.

As an aside, I'm past the 2 hour mark in testing the Anker buds, can't test past 3 though because I get off work in an hour.

Edit: The Ankers just lasted about 5 and a half hours if you were curious [took them home].

u/dannysargeant · 1 pointr/p90x3

I use these. They're awesome.

If you want pure handsfree, I would recommend the LG Tone series. It uses bluetooth and the audio quality is pretty good. (I'm not an audiophile) There are many models avaiable, but this is the one I use with my Nexus 6p daily: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-HBS-750-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B00FO0IHMY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1454011273&sr=8-1&keywords=lg+tone

get a bluetooth collar

https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-HBS-750-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B00FO0IHMY/

Ive had the same one for about 3 years now, still lasts about a week per charge with about an hour of phone calls per day.

u/guy_from_the_mall · 1 pointr/running

These are the headphones that I have. They're pretty nice, maybe a little more expensive than you're looking for, but they can be bought cheaper places other than Amazon.

u/im_at_work_ugh · 1 pointr/dataisbeautiful

I use to use these but currently since asking I use these. I tend to mainly listen to pod cast and audiobooks though so quality might be kinda shit for music.

I have the LG TonePro. Isn't quite as low profile as the one's you're talking about, but has two earbuds that work perfect for music. It works perfect with Cortana, vibrates when the phone rings and fits beneath my polo shirt collar. I hate BT headsets before, and I love this stupid thing.

I would recommend the LG Tone. I bought a second cheaper version of my 910's because I didn't want to get those sweaty.

You need to be a little slower and careful with any earbud, that's just a good fitting helmet, I stick a finger up and fix them before I strap it down. I have used these riding for 4 years.

u/itsMeNemesis · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

here in my store, i only work evenings, and Saturday morning. in the evenings i get like avg 20 customer who walk in print. Saturday mornings are dead af. thats why i bought those LG Bluetooth headphone that go around the neck and tuck them under my coller and just listen to music or watch videos. my manager dont give a fuck. afaik i think lol

u/obscurePythonquote · 0 pointsr/RandomActsOfChristmas

My oldest son Dylan,17 has asked I not request for him as he would rather his younger brother receive gifts. That being said he would LOVE to get a quality Bluetooth headset like this one from LG. He has a job as a dishwasher and the headphone jack on his phone is...jacked, lol. It only works intermittently.

Thanks for your generosity and Happy B-Day to you! :)
