my man if you can afford 3 shields you can afford at least one Harmony hub with remote from amazon. Its probably the best remote Ive ever used https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-915-000194-Smartphone-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B00ZYIFXSM/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1541011555&sr=8-9&keywords=harmony+hub+remote

I don’t have that particular model, but I do use harmony hub based remotes and they work wonderfully. They link up with the roku over IP, so line of sight is never an issue. I also love to program in a “home” command in my power off sequences so that the hub will kill my stream and return the roku to its home screen every time you turn it off or switch inputs.

You don’t need one that fancy, but I certainly wouldn’t blame you for getting it. Even a harmony hub by itself will work great and you’d use your phone as a remote. I use this one in my bedroom and the battery lasts for the better part of a year:

This isn't a direct answer to your question, but I had a Harmony touchscreen something-or-other several years ago, and I found that it was a huge pain to keep charged. Anyplace near enough to an outlet to keep the charging stand was out of the way enough to be inconvenient. It's one of those things that's only a minor irritation, but it's a minor irritation more often than you think, especially with other people in the house.

I started keeping track of which of the touch screen functions we were using and discovered that we were really only using 3-4 of them. I ended up getting the non-touchscreen Harmony Smart Remote (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZYIFXSM/) and haven't looked back, and the battery has literally lasted for years. Once you get over the flashiness of the touchscreen you realize that it's just an oversized and expensive button.

Just my two cents.

Or $50 renewed year round, which is what I bought. Highly recommended, it's one of those things you don't know you needed until you get one.

This is what you want right here. I have the same devices as you and it works great.

If actual visibility of the TV isn't affected, not to throw money at the problem, but consider getting the logitech harmony hub with simple remote. You can place an IR blaster pointing at the TV (extra ones come with the hub) if the hub blasting IR isn't enough.

In general I don't like center channels in an enclosed space, I get worried it is distorting the sound. It is actually a question i've been meaning to ask folks here, so if there is feedback on the effect of enclosed cabinet on center channel I'm curious.

Here is a refurbished one for $50 https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-915-000194-Smartphone-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B00ZYIFXSM

>I know i could use a Logitech harmony hub but its like $300

It's $60 for the base unit, just so you're aware.

Honestly.... drop whatever you’re doing and buy this Logitech

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-915-000194-Harmony-Control-Smartphone/dp/B00ZYIFXSM/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?keywords=logitech+harmony&qid=1565115626&s=gateway&sprefix=logitech+harm&sr=8-11

It’ll control all of your devices and is super simple. Wife approved (non techy) and my 4 yr old even figured out how to use it for the most part LOL

Simple setup and day to day use.... and no matter what activity you’re doing, the volume controls will always control the receiver.

The Apple TV 4K supports HDMI-CEC, so your Sony TV remote might work. Otherwise I recommend this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZYIFXSM/ref=psdc_3236443011_t2_B00BQ5RYI4

Logitech harmony hub. It has "activities" that you set up like watching shield TV. It will turn on everything, switch everything to the correct inputs, and the buttons on the remote will control the shield, but the volume will go through the receiver, etc.

How the harmony control the shield? Ir or Bluetooth?

I have at my living room shield, cable box and a receiver (and tv😅) can I configure the volume always control the receiver?
And it’s easy to change control form the shield and the cable box? (My parents want something simple)
Also this is what you bought? Bestbuy doesn’t send to my country

Checks most of your boxes. If there's a simpler remote, I'm not aware.

The basic remote + Hub (this link is refurbished, just showing the remote style) went on sale for Black Friday for $40-50 last year.

Logitech Harmony solves this. I use this one

u/cbroughton80 · 1 pointr/amazonecho

Next to the echo the Harmony is probably the second most bang for our buck. The voice controller is nice but I've really come to love the fact that it's Bluetooth and not line of sight. It seems small but it's so handy and I grown now when I have to use someone else old-school remote :)

Got one for my mom and she loves it. Great gift for $50 if you don't mind setting it up. Amazon link.

I’d highly recommend a decent universal remote. The harmony hub with remote is a nice simple option that has tons of room to grow. And they are currently on sale.

Just get a harmony hub type thing. This one's really cheap and will do all you want. It's basically all Logitech does right nowadays.
