Motorcycle stands will work.. I lived in an apartment, and didn't have a place to store anything really.

I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LGVRF0K/ref=sspa_mw_detail_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's a simple telescopic mirror.. Let me see mine perfectly while I was sitting on my Vulcan 900 to balance it.

I'm not sure how big the mag insertion hole is, but a dental mirror might be nice for inspecting the other seam and is only $5 or so.

You could try one of those little mirror sticks they make for looking into more hard to reach places on cars. Something like this.

It's an inspection mirror, like dentists use for a mouth but for machinery. It lets mechanics and technicians look for problems in awkward places without having to disassemble a bunch of stuff to gain access.

If you are in the US AutoZone carries them. Otherwise, take a look at http://amzn.com/B000NPR3XY

edit : autocorrect isn't.

Low-tech solution.

Soldiers had the option to buy their own periscopes in WWI; if I were to be deployed I think I'd spend the 15 bucks on an extendable mirror.
