It's been such a journey w/ this guy, I've swapped so much out, but I should be able to put together some kind of a list.

Treads

Motors

Bottom plate

DAGU MINI Driver

2 channel 5V relay

5v/9v/12v Battery Pack

LED Flashlight NOTE: Not this one, I just bought 2 cheap ones from my local Radio Shack. Also, RIP Radio Shack. As seen in the video, they had multiple LEDs. Be sure to get those type, some only have 1 LED. Just disassemble and wire power directly to the LED arrays.

Laser pointer

Obviously a Raspberry Pi. The one I'm using is a B+, shouldn't matter much though. Also, a camera module

Pololu Expansion Plate What most everything sits on top of

5v voltage regulator Steps down 9v output to 5v, goes to the relay to power the lights and laser. NOTE: This gets HOT when in use. I also bought a heatsink and I suggest you do as well

Edimax wifi adapter The only one I trust. I've got 2 or 3 of these and they never let me down.

SG90 micro servos x2

Pan/Tilt mount for servos NOTE: I couldn't find the one I use as it came in a kit LONG ago, but something like this should do the trick

Lots of wire and solder. I highly recommend the heat shrink tubes also. A note on how power is distributed. The battery pack has a USB 5v out, a 9v out and a 12v in/out. I only use the 12v in for charging. The 5v USB powers the pi exclusively. The 9v out is where a lot of the wiring gets crazy. The ground needs to branch off to the DAGU mini driver, the 5v regulator (IIRC), lights and laser. Power goes to the DAGU mini driver and to the 5v regulator. Wiring then continues from the 5v regulator to the 5v relay, through that to the lights and servos. Doing something like all this took a lot of wire soldering, so get gud. :)

That SHOULD be a complete parts list. This robot has gone through several parts changeouts in its lifetime, including a speaker and microphone, tires and ultrasonic sensor. Ultimately though, I like this configuration best. It seems powerful and stable. My only current problem is some jitter in the servos. I need to line out what's causing that, but shouldn't be too tough to figure out.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

I got

  • This Vid Rx/Tx set
  • This Camera
  • This Gimbal
  • This control lever
  • This landing gear
  • This video tx mount

From a range perspective I haven't taken it past 1,200' away. When I got out that far with the stock antennas I started getting static/snow in the picture. I plan on replacing the tx antenna with a skew plannar antenna. I recently purchased a 200mw 1.3Ghz tx for a 250mm FPV quad which I put this skew plannar antenna on. I'm going to evaluate that setup and decide what to do with my phantom. I think I may replace the 800mw tx on my Phantom with a 200mw instead and upgrade the antenna. I want to do this for 2 reasons, the 200mw is much much smaller and it draws less power. I noticed a dramatic decrease in flight time (12 minutes down to 5 minutes), which i attribute to power draw and additional weight. I'm hoping to get flight times back up to between 7-10 minutes (running 2200-3000mah batteries) with a new tx.

Gimbal works well after some tweaking in the software and the camera takes superb video.

    Good luck!

Prolly gonna run these tires wrapped around these wheels. Mostly, on the wheels, it's budgetary. Those RC4WD beadlocks are nice but they're pricey AF. Heh.

I did take the wheels off my NTC3 and put them on the SC10GT as a go-nogo for whether or not I could use 1.9 crawler rims, and they fit fine. They looked goofy AF, but they cleared all the suspension components. If I can use standard 26mm touring car wheels on this thing I should be able to use any 1.9 crawler rim I want to, seeing as the drive hex on crawler rims is much more centered in the rim.

For S's and G's, I also took the tires off my ancient CEN Fun Factor MT2 and tried them. Their OD is larger so I'd need to change gearing if I ran them, but they also fit.

> Also the rat rod body shouldn't give you too much trouble fitting the chassis, but I wonder how much you would have left after you trim it up for the head and exhaust, maybe fuel and pull starter access...

https://parmapse.shptron.com/p/40-street-stock-sc-coupe-040-clear-body?pp=15

Reckon I'll run this one, so no need to worry about trimming for head/starter access. I just start 'em with the shell off, warm 'em up a bit before I throw it on. I'll have to play it by ear regarding fuel tank access, but on my NTC3 I'm able to use the same vent hole for refueling as the engine uses for cooling air.

> I'm assuming you don't have a local shop or a couple buddies you could use to check out what you're looking for.

No, not really. Nearest brick-and-mortar hobby shop is an hour's drive. IT's a great shop and I'm sure if I took the drive down there they'd have plenty to say at lest regarding tires, body, et-al. And they are where I get my gallon jugs of fuel. But, alas, my LHS is Tower Hobbies, eBay, and increasingly AMain's website. And, heh, nitro SCT never took off, so even if I did I wouldn't expect them to have much to say on that front beyond 'convert to BL pl0x?'. :3

Bit of a shame, really. This thing came out right alongside SCT exploding and right alongside brushless/lipo becoming commonplace. It's a lovely truck. I've run it a couple times since posting this and it runs amazing. Ish. Got some tuning issues to resolve but beyond that, yah, runs sweet. The pickup is pretty good, too, and honestly I think it weighs less than my NTC3.

Prolly gonna relocate the receiver battery to the front just to shift the COG, though. It has incredible amounts of understeer and I think that's in part because of the tires and in part because it's ass heavy. I've got an old 5 cell NiMH receiver pack, prolly gonna solder a new pigtail onto that and ziptie it in nice and secure right behind the front shock tower.

PO has fitted it with a crappy little 2s LiPo pack made out of AA length cells or something. Like they're just shorter versions of 18650 cells. Bizarre little battery. 800mAh and when I first tried to charge it my charger balked at me. It had been allowed to drop down to just 1.5 volts overall. I was able to resuscitate it though, through the 'trickle charge it at barely anything on NiMH until pack voltage came up enough to switch to lithium charging' method(100mA, lowest my charger would do) and it seems to be working reasonably well. Still gonna replace it though, you never know how long one'll last when you have to do that.

> The only other resource I can suggest is Facebook.

I don't use Facebook for a number of reasons unrelated to RC.

That looks like a "rear hub carrier" (that term should help you in searching for aftermarket metal upgrade replacements). I don't have one of those but I did see these ones when searching just to make sure something useful would come up: https://www.amazon.com/Bettal-Rear-Wltoys-A949-Metal/dp/B071VYFFY3. I dunno if those are good hub carriers or not but it will give you an idea of what you are looking for.

u/polarbearrape · 2 pointsr/crawling

I highly recommend the Gmade wheels for a good heavy sealed wheel. looks good on a toyota too. something like this one https://www.amazon.com/Gmade-70176-Beadlock-Wheels-Gloss/dp/B00MPY26DS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1550800760&sr=8-2&keywords=gmade+wheels+1.9

u/Lefthandedsock · 3 pointsr/rccars

Alright then.

I suggest the HPI Baja 5B and a set of sand tires!

Front tires

Rear tires

Sure, it's 1/5 scale, but if there's no budget then you might as well buy the best.

Hey what's up! Sorry for the late reply but this is what I bought to glue on - road tires on my Tamiya tt-02d. I recommend taking off each tire and foam if installed, remove and dust and debris before gluing the tires. There are several tutorials on YouTube on how to do it properly, but it's fairly easy.

Assuming you know about the trim functions and different speed modes yes?

And the GoPro is right on the edge of the payload capabilities for those motors.

Here was/is my setup.

I got the taller wider landing legs to give the GoPro clearance.

And later I actually added a piece of stiff/dense foam between the belly and the GoPro mount. This greatly reduced "jell-o" to near zero. Best pic I can find right now

Another thing that really helped out with Jell-o and over all stability was balancing the props. You'll be amazed how unbalanced those props are. Aftermarket props too. I bought this Prop balancer and use it for all my quads even my Carbon fiber props. Just keep adding pieces of scotch tape to the under side and remove excess with a razor until it's balanced.

I've crashed, repaired, and modded this little thing so many times so if you have any questions just hit me up

How do identify what wheels fit my slash? Does offset matter in rc truck as much as real trucks or do they all fit?

u/jtbenscoter · 2 pointsr/fpv

I can’t recommend it enough. But if you do, get a set like this Quickbuying Aluminum Alloy Taildragger Tricycle Landing Gear w/Steering Tail Wheel For RC Airplane Spare Parts https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071FYPZKP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_V9l1BbVH3W7S8

You want the metal to connect in the middle. The foam board makes it hard to attach the gear in a legit way

Not a slash but these fit my Losi Tenacity perfectly...

I sanded and painted the red bead black.

I use this on my F450 and I've been pretty happy with it. It lets me move the quad back and forth to adjust COG some. When I've come down a little too hard the parts separate but don't break.

Finally, something I have the answer to!

These changed my video abilities completely:

You're just missing that little pin that goes into the wheel hub that's like 1 cm long?

If so, I would try the local hobby shop and see if they have one cheap. $18 for just the pin is a bit much.

If you check also Bestbuy they sell Traxxas stuff cheap. You might be able to get one of these.

https://www.amazon.ca/Traxxas-3654-Hex-Wheel-12mm/dp/B000HKH0RO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1522165759&sr=8-3&keywords=12mm+wheel+hex

Edit: I'm cheap, so I would just get the dimensions and cut a nail to fit in there and file the ends smooth.

u/ktm_orange · 1 pointr/rccars

Rear hub carrier. You could go RPM and they're durable but they do get a little sloppy after many hours of use. Aluminum would solve the problem as well and not present the problem of flexing over time.

ZJchao(TM) FPV Anti-vibration Multifunction Landing Skid Kit for DJI F450 F550 Quadcopter Hexacopter

and it is awesome.

I just now cut a loop too short and snapped all 4 arms... the landing gear is unscathed... I really love how it just broke free and snaps right back on, doesn't break because there is just enough tension to keep the skids on a tough landing.

My crash just now was a result of 1) a loose FC causing instability 2) my thinking I was in acro when I was in horizon. Hit the ground full-force.
