This reminds me of this one book I read when I was younger. It was called Life-Size Dragons. It contains tons of 'facts' and seemed completely legit to a young, impressionable me. There should be obvious disclaimers for these kinds of things.
Hands Off, Harry! By Rosemary Wells and Personal Space Camp By Julia Cook. both cover this pretty well (my kid randomly brought them home from the library a few years ago)
