This is so exciting I've been browsing bags left and right hehe I could keep going but I already had to make a decision on which ones made the cut and it wasn't easy, hope you don't mind I put more than one option. Seeing as it is your first purse you have to take into consideration what size fits your needs better and the design has to be somewhat easy to dress up or down so you don't have to move things around.
Anne Klein makes pretty good purses, I've owned a few and they are simple in design, stylish and good sized. This is one model I've owned and it takes me a bit to fill it all up, mind you whatever the size of the bag you'll always manage to get it pretty full, which can be bad for the shoulders... nevertheless space is always welcome.

Here's another Anne Klein with a beautiful design, I feel it's a bit more modern, this one has a zipper which I recommend if you're a bit clumsy like me, it's always a relief when you drop your bag or go to a crowded not so secure place, make the thiefs work harder for your goodies. I love this question and I've got a few answers to it!

If you're really looking for "classic" and durable handbags:

I've had this Bendel's bag as a gift in blush pink for three years now, and adore it. It's simple, durable, and workable just about year round.

I also have a coach purse really similar to this coach bag in a darker blue in leather. I've had it for 6 years, the thing is indestructible. It's seen big forums, rain snow and sleet, a couple parties, countless classes, once half a bottle of Rosé spilled in it, and was super easy to get the smell out of.

A friend of mine has a bag similar to this kate spade and swears by the thing, and it always looks so sophisticated.


I however, have a hard won love for odd purses, and take them all over the place, and those REALLY go through some nonsense with me.

this popcorn purse is a personal favorite. Somehow survived my dog teething on it a couple years ago, and she's pretty much bred for biting power.
Betsy Johnson's purses are my lifeblood. All of them are wonderful. They survive everything, come in pretty much all shapes and sizes and I've recently been eyeing the dinosaur one.
But the dream, truly, is one of Kate Spade's weird purses. Seriously a taco truck?! Or this cactus? or this cactus? how about this little parrot? Every bag from her I've seen or encountered has been crazy durable and these are amazing

I too am constantly on the lookout for a bag with almost your exact specifications. It's like every single bag out there is either ultra-tactical and therefore not my style, or else it's hand-crafted from high quality Himalayan mountain cow leather or some shit and it costs an arm and a leg. Or it's only available in super-feminine prints or styles. My mom has a bag that is amazing and I would love to have one in, like, plain black or something, but the brand only makes bright floral prints. Not really my style.

I don't need it to be an heirloom piece, I'll buy a new one every few years if I have to, I just want something that isn't gigantic, that looks nice enough that I won't get weird looks carrying it to work, but also casual enough that I similarly won't get weird looks walking down the street with it.

I currently am using a Pacsafe 200 which I am mostly happy with. It is a good bag, but is very slightly too small to be perfect. It definitely wouldn't fit your Surface.

I've seen that Kenneth Cole bag in person and it is, at least in my opinion, not quite as nice as it looks online. I mean, it's still a great bag, but the leather is a very soft leather life you might find on furniture rather than a more stiff leather that I typically prefer in a bag. That may or may not bother you, but I just wasn't that impressed with it. I can't really speak to the others except that that LEABAGS LONDON bag looks pretty sweet. Oh, and also, the Muzetto's are incredible but obviously way more than I would ever want to pay for a bag.

For glasses - LOVE the current frames you have. In the future, it may be worth looking at bolder plastic frames or coloured ones. It looks like you have an oval face shape, so maybe a square lens? Frames are so cheap to buy online nowadays, so check out sites like Zenni and EyebuyDirect. Experiment! Have fun!

Purse - I am personally VERY PICKY when it comes to purses. I usually just have one that I use every day. Try finding a purse that speaks to you, not what just matches your outfit. I recently got this one, and I'm a 33 yr old working in a corporate office 😜

This one is very cute but the size might be the deal breaker.

This one looks like it has more space but is kinda just a "one huge pocket" type. Still a good looking handbag.

This one has more pockets on the inside than the other one mentioned above,is black and cute with a long strap.

This one has a more structured body. Better looking pockets that are separated/all throughout the middle. Detachable strap + smaller handles.

This one is bigger but has no large strap. The two handles should be able to be put on a shoulder. Lots more space + pockets.

This one is like half structured and half baggy. No big strap but possibly large enough straps to go over a shoulder. Even though it's semi floppy I think it would be easy to keep organized and is big enough for many items + has smaller pockets.

This one is very cute but sadly doesn't come in black. I think this brown "coffee" color could still go with many outfits. The outside is aesthetically pleasing to look at, the inside has many pockets and a lot of space for usual purse items.

This one is very stylish, structured with a big strap + smaller handles. Not much going on inside but if you are looking for a big purse with a big main pocket then this is probably the best one. You can unzip the sides for a little extra room and it appears to have little metal feet on the four corners so standing it up beside a desk would work out.

This one is plain but fashionable. Multiple pockets inside, structured. No large strap but large handles.

First, a little background info....I need a new bag for work and it needs to be large enough to fit my 11'' ultrabook, a book or two and some papers, and my lunch. I've already ordered and returned two bags that I didn't like once I saw them in person, so I'd like to get it right this time :( I don't wear leather and I have under 150 to spend, so it's kind of making things difficult. I will have the bag with me at work throughout the day so I do want it to look at least somewhat nice, and I will be carrying it in fall, winter, and spring. It is up to me how dressy or undressy I choose to be at work (I usually wear pencil skirts, a blouse, a cardigan, and pointy flats, but I sometimes just wear jeans with a blazer or sweater).

I'm now eyeing the [Kipling Super City Bag](http://www.amazon.com/Kipling-Supercity-Black-One-Size/dp/B00EFYTMIS) in either Black of Lacquer Black (I like the lining on the Lacquer Black one but I'm worried the shiny finish of the bag's exterior might look cheap.)

Should I go for it? And if so, which color? I've heard good things about Kipling here, but I can't decide if this bag looks fashionable or not. If I was getting it in Purple Dahli color I would be done with this decision in a heartbeat because I love that color and it makes me like the bag more... but I need to be able to carry this daily with every outfit so I probably have to go with one of the black colors like an adult would.

I got the medium size. Tbh I’m not in loooovvveee. But it’s partly because I’ve gotten so spoiled with only carrying designer bags lol. I’m highly likely to keep it because I don’t have any bags that could be “trashed”. So this would be good to keep in the closet for a time that may arise when I’d like to bring along a bag that isn’t something I care about, as it’s super cheap too. 💁🏻‍♀️that and it is pretty unique. That leaves you room to get yourself another treat because let’s face it we all deserve to treat ourselves.

Never keep it in your back pocket (that goes for your wallet as well). I typically keep everything in a cross-body day bag with a zipper, and in crowded areas like markets, public transit, shows, etc. I make sure to swing it around the front of my body so no one can easily open it from the back and reach in. This is the bag I've used on my last few trips and it has some nice safety features, though I don't think they're really necessary in most parts of the world.

If I'm taking a lot of photos in such an area I will often just hold on to my phone, or keep it in my front pants pocket with my hand hooked in there as well. But be aware of your surroundings and trust your gut -- if it's a really sketchy area maybe just don't take your phone out. You don't always need a photo of everything.

Also, I try to back up my photos as often a possible when traveling, just in case I do lose my phone somewhere.

That's what I use, and I couldn't beat it for $15 and free shipping (with amazon prime - I love the student life). It's the most basic duffel, but it works and it doesn't look bad.

A few years ago I got a Pacsafe Citysafe CS100 purse and it is has a simple design. It's good quality - the color has never faded and the interior has held together without any frayed thread. It's also very durable because it was designed as an anti-theft bag - you cannot easily cut through the material and the zippers are designed with extra security in mind. It's usually in the $80 range, though Pacsafe has a variety of other bags with the same durability and simple style.

Look for a sling bag. The kind that have only one strap.

Most sling bags tend to come in athletic styles, which I think looks best. You can also find some military/tacticool ones and some canvas/leather/vintage ones, but they often look a little silly, like a kid-sized version of a normal backpack.

I use this as a cheap, small, low-profile camera bag. It's just barely wide enough for my DSLR. Easily handles a book, water bottle, etc.

Also, they hang off your back instead of your side. So you don't have that messenger bag problem where you keep bumping into stuff.

The Ronin bag is a 15 dollar Rothco bag with printing on it. That being said, I use it as a gym bag and the quality is good for the price. Take that as you will.

I would recommend this one. Cheap, durable, and big enough for that and then some. I use it as my gym bag & for weekend trips. You might want to get a little dopp kit because there isn't an inner pocket.

Not sure what size or color you're looking for but canvas duffles shouldn't be too hard to find for a decent price.

I flew to New York last winter and couchsurfed for six days with this bag in black. It fits more than you would imagine (x7 long-sleeve shirts, x7 underwear & socks, change of pants, 2 pb books) and it was great to have only one nondescript canvas bag to worry about. I did very nearly forget it on a bus which would have been a mess.

I also carry a Rothco messenger bag (4+ years now) and it's never let me down (has developed some holes over time)
