🎓 Reddit experts on skateboard tools
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where skateboard tools are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
I'm really confused with this comment... I got the same skate tool with my stealth and my Mini X. It has the hex key (the stick), the L shaped smaller hex key, and the third (larger) piece that the stick is housed in. The larger piece has 2 hex sockets, one on each end... and it fits the wheel nut perfectly. THe larger (other) side of it fits the kingpin nut perfectly. The little L shaped hex key fits the brackets for wheel cover's 2 screws.
The setup was identical on both boards. It comes with everything you need to change the wheels and the belts. The stealth even came with spare belts, though my Mini X did not. Hit me up if you have questions brother, you should be good to go for changing out the wheels.

The quality on all of those is fantastic. Lastly, I highly recommend a bit of Frog Lube paste for your pivot cup and bushings, just a very thin coat will lubricate your trucks for buttery smooth turns, and it smells like wintergreen lifesavers. :)

Yes, I know what Froglube was made for, it also happens to be a perfect product for skate applications LOL. Active duty Marine, had a lot in stock and needed a basic lubricant for those pivot cups. It was like the stuff was made for this!
Backstory:
Awesome, I want to start skating because by best friend lives in my neighborhood so this will make it quicker. I went to a skating camp (but took photography) and there was a shop that sold boards there so I had some money to spend and I bought one.
Here it is - Is it too big or too small?
With no prior knowledge of really anything about skating, I looked up information. So what I need is trucks, wheels, bearings, a T-tool, and bolts, and I want to get knee, elbow pads and maybe a helmet. Is this everything I will need? (Also mine already has grip tape on it).
Usage:
I dont really want to do tricks whatsoever so that should give you a good idea I'm hoping. So could someone tell me what size and hardness wheels I should be getting? Also what size trucks? And if I should want it looser or tighter? And anything else that has many variants?
Im probably overthinking it but still.
-
Is this a fine T-tool?
Also, I went looking on Skate America and found some wheels I like; the "SPITFIRE F1 STREET BURNER REYNOLDS BLAZIN HOT SKATEBOARD WHEELS" which come in 51.5, 52.5, and 5.35 MM, are those okay?
Thanks so much for any help!
That sucks man. I had a similar situation not too long ago. Luckily for me, my board didn't suffer too much.
BUT, I can help you at least a little bit! My trucks were also bent during that incident, and all it requires is a little bit of loosening and re-tightening using a standard skate tool. There's a ton of tutorials online about what to do if your trucks get screwy, like this, this text tutorial, and this forum post
Good luck man, glad you're okay!
I ride 3 miles to the train station on weekdays. Here are some items I always have on me for my commute:
Any commuting-related questions feel free to ask.
Was the work contest a simple 'Who can work hardest?' contest or was there like a specific goal?
I recently worked my ass off for some extra money to buy longboard trucks and I feel awesome about that.
pat
I am currently working on pushing/riding switch on my longboard and anyone who has ridden a longboard or skateboard knows how difficult that can be.
And I need this skate tool to carry around so I can work on my board on the go instead of going to my uncle's to use his tools every time I want to work on my board(a lot).
The little engine that could is quite an inspiration.
Thank you for the contest, and I hope your great day continues!
sorry dude too lazy never took a picture of my room but I have both decks mounted and their matching ash trays on my nightstand. Been up for about a year and I love em.
Here's the link to the ones I bought super easy to install.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003T31BKS/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hey awesome, thanks for breaking that down for me =D
I ended up buying these because people in the comments were saying they worked and you know... Amazon prime lol. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MYT0TXN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought this one: Silver Premium All-In-One Multi Function Ratchet Skate Tool (Blue/Red) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IQVA5T0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_nKJmyb5TJBG46
It 100 percent works w/ V2 and is great quality. I think it looks great too :)
Uh yes, look into a skateboard tool, you can buy them here for around 7 bucks, and you can probably find them at Walmart or any skate shop, these will help you tighten your trucks and remove wheels, bearings, or even replace the trucks if you feel the need to. Good luck!
I used these belts for about 200 miles: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHHVB78/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you read the reviews you'll note that others have noted these belts feel 'loose'. As you install the belts they feel fine but as you ride the board the response feels "muddy". Acceleration is slower and feels "gooey". Braking is slower as well. The belts seem durable but I took them off before they broke.. The boosted belts felt way better.. very noticeable difference. If you're going to pay $1500 for a top tier board you should get all of the performance possible out of it.
If someone knows of a cheaper belt with the same performance, I'd like to know about it also.
Not too hard, but they can be a bit time consuming if you are always trying new parts. One of these will contain every bit you need to assemble a board.
They are held together by nuts and bolts, pretty simple, just make sure you get a pack of hardware too.
Yeah, I'd get some wheels and bearings, boards are cool looking but they don't do much without em.
That's smart wish i thought of that before lol.
If they ever fall down on you this is what im using for mine : https://www.amazon.com/Sk8ology-Skateboard-Display-Mount-Hanger/dp/B003T31BKS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1526344790&sr=8-3&keywords=sk8ology
I'm a newbie too but it looks like you're suppose to use a specialty tool like this. I think you can get them out without it, but it's more difficult. I was wondering if you couldn't use a cheap but strong neodimium magnet since the bearings are steel which is ferrous. Don't listen to me though, more experienced folks here probably have better advice.
I mostly wanted to highjack this thread and ask along similar lines if riding in the rain will ruin your bearings due to steel liking to rust?
Edit: As far as I can tell from what about.com says skateboards, scooters, inline skates, rollerskates, etc all use exactly the same bearings (except for some very obscure exceptions), but that makes sense from a manufacturing perspective. It could be there is some other reason (the shape of the wheel, interface with the trucks maybe?) that a skateboard bearing puller wouldn't work on inline skates, I don't know. Rollerblade and some others make inline skate specific bearing tools however, I just assumed the skateboard one would too since it's for the same kind of bearing.

This is the one I have and I love the ratcheting feature of it. It's long and narrow enough to fit through the motors to get to the rear hardware.
Probable either the teeth whitening kit: http://www.amazon.com/Rembrandt-005879-2-Hour-Whitening-Kit/dp/B0000DGBI2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2LEL7INPT1XNN&coliid=I1X172QGNAFPJ5 or the Skate tool: http://www.amazon.com/BLUE-Skateboards-T-TOOL-ALL-IN-ONE-TOOL/dp/B004LT5KO2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1ECC5O5E9VU1P&coliid=I313BF2B164GZM
Skate tool is necessity, I need it every time I have to tighten my skates or change wheels which is semi-often.
The teeth whitening kit isn't really that exciting, but it's a reward I want for myself since I quit smoking 64 days ago, after 8 years, cold turkey.
/u/525chill2pull don't be a dick.
I would love a skate tool
Get either official Boosted belts or something like these ASAP: https://www.amazon.com/ROMP-Boosted-Board-2-Pack-Stealth/dp/B01MYT0TXN/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=Boosted+Board+belts&qid=1558373431&s=gateway&sr=8-9
Try to avoid riding with one belt, the boards are not designed to do that and you'll probably notice when breaking or turning that things can really easily get out of control.
Thanks for your note. Something like this? [this](Zeato All-in-One Skate Tools Multi-Function Portable Skateboard T Tool Accessory with T-Type Allen Key and L-Type Phillips Head Wrench Screwdriver - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072LY5824/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_a9b1Db7SQQWSJ)

love the skate tool version of this:
https://smile.amazon.com/Leatherman-Jam-Style-PS-Skate/dp/B00IYIAI98/
You don’t necessarily need a skate tool, you could use a socket wrench to take the wheel off. But having a tool will be very handy. I’m not sure what brand is the best, I have one similar to this one and it gets the job done
Have you tried loosening the bolt inside the wheels? Sometimes (and most frequently on new skateboards) it comes too tight. A few spins and you'll be fine.
If you're starting you could buy a Skateboard Tool like this one.
Try these thes e are the right diameter but they're not in stock till April 24 Boosted Board V2 Belts (2-Pack) by ROMP SUPPLY https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MYT0TXN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Mv79ybWEG7SBM

I have 4 boards hung up in my room. Two ways you can do it.
