I shop on Amazon because I get gift cards for work (camgirl). I'll list whatever I find in my order history - Apologies if it includes anything discontinued. I shop on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca as I am Canadian, so I'll include finds from both.

Loves

Bombsheller octopus leggings - They don't carry these on Amazon anymore, but last I checked, they do allow you to pay via Amazon on their website. The size chart was off when I first ordered them so I exchanged them for a size up, and the company was very accomodating. The leggings are comfy and sturdy.

Jellyfish socks - Adorable and well made. Definitely plan to purchase more designs from this seller.

Snowpants - I don't wear these a lot since I'm more the summer outdoorsy type, but they were excellent for walking my ex's dog in the winter and I still occasionally wear them for running errands on foot when it's really cold out.

Burned velvet leggings - I bought these in "blurple" and adore them. They're slightly sheer, so I wear other leggings underneath (these ones from eBay do the trick).

Anna-Kaci search result link - Anna-Kaci is an awesome vendor with well priced attire. I listed the vendor since the specific items I purchased are no longer available.

Thigh high socks - I have found these cheaper on amazon.ca, but this was the first pair I bought. Cute and sturdy! I now have 3 more pairs on their way!

Zebra print scarf - I was impressed by the quality of this one. I did donate it when I was gifted a similar scarf in black/gray as I try not to keep duplicates of non-essentials, but I would still have it otherwise.

Timberland knee high boots - Bought these in black, and they are probably one of my favorite Amazon purchases ever. If I were to ever re-buy these, I'd go a half size up, as I had to get them professionally stretched once they arrived, but holy fuck I love these boots. Waterproof, and fantastic quality. They're my go-to boots and I wear them more than any other piece of footwear I own.

Underbust belt - I'm not huge on the price tag, only because I once bought a nearly identical one on clearance pre-breast-augmentation. I'm glad I was able to buy this one post-op since the old one stopped fitting though. Will buy in more colors if they ever go on sale.

Booties - Pleasantly surprised by the quality! Will definitely consider buying more if I ever want/need them in different colors. Comfier for longer wear than most of my other heels, too.

Suspender Skirt - I love this thing so much, I bought two more on eBay after buying this one in black. This one's definitely better quality than the other two, though. I'd recommend wearing them with a shorts slip since there's not a lot of length to them. I'm actually really sad that they don't ship this to Canada anymore, otherwise I'd buy a couple more colors.

Beechfield beanie - This is definitely more my style when it comes to fit, but isn't as warm as the cable knits. Definitely one of my go-to hats.

Likes

Wet look batwing top - Surprised by the fit/quality for the price. Fabric looks/feels a bit cheap but overall the piece is well made.

Chunky cable knit beanies - I ordered this hat in olive, mustard, and teal. They're comfy, warm, and feel well made. I find them to be a little too bulky for my head, so I'm trying to stretch them out/break them in a bit. Definitely personal preference though, and not a quality issue.

Glitter loafers with spikes - They're gorgeous, but not high quality. I'd put them under "meh" for lifespan, but I did love them up until they started falling apart.

Holo creepers - I really need to wear these more, but my day-to-day fashion is much more casual and I don't party like I used to. Working my way towards wearing them more. The quality is decent but I don't think they'll last forever.

JollyChic search result link - JollyChic is great for cheap-ish stuff. I've bought from them a number of times and rarely been disappointed. Some of their synthetic stuff smells chemically at first (shiny leggings being one) but the smell dissipates after a couple washes. Their customer service is also stellar. Shared the search results since the specific items I ordered are no longer listed.

Iron Fist sweater - Bought in a size small, fits more like a medium. Will be shrinking it.

Waist belt - Great quality for the price (~$13CAD if I recall correctly). Fit is a little stiff, so it can look a little boxy with some outfits as it isn't flexible around curves, but overall still nice.

Meh

Faux fur vest #1 - Not the worst quality, but definitely felt cheaper than a couple other vests I own. Ended up selling it since the size chart was off and I didn't love it enough to exchange it for the right size.

Faux fur vest #2 - Slightly lower quality than #1, but same deal - Size chart was inaccurate, but not worth exchanging so I sold it.

Thermal leggings - Smelled awful at first, but it went away overtime. They are still pretty warm even after washing/wearing them for a couple years now, but they pill, so they're not the most aesthetically pleasing. Great for layering, but would not buy again.

Skull cardigan - It's cute and cozy. I wear it around the house more than out, since I noticed after washing it that the bottom corners started curling up a bit due to shrinkage. Also wish it was a tad bit longer.

Spiked slouch beret - The creases are a little harder than I wanted/expected, so I'm trying to stretch it out/break it in a bit. I have other hats that I like more though, so this one doesn't get a lot of love and might just end up being donated.

Leg warmers - Quality-wise, they should be in the "loves" section, but I bought these back when I was on a wild spree to better prepare myself for winter, and while I do love how warm they are, the patterns/colors just aren't my style.

Digital print tanks - The quality is about what I expected for the material, but I found the fit to be off on most of them (especially in the armpit area). I modified a few for a better fit, but mostly I wear them as slips now. The material is perfect for layering under sweaters that normally "grab" onto cotton camis. They can definitely be found cheaper elsewhere, though.

Fleece lined leggings - I bought these in damask, which I guess is no longer available. They're completely matted on the inside now, and not what I'd call "fleece lined" anymore. Still pretty on the outside, but definitely no good for warmth.

Downright Awful

OURS vendor search results - Seriously, don't buy anything from OURS. Their photos are stolen from other brands and the quality of their clothes are laughably poor. I threw them away rather than donate them because I knew that they would never be rebought, even at thrift store prices. They were the worst. Woooorst.

Bikini - The shittiest shit that ever shitted. Everything about it was just awful.

Where in New England? There could be a huge difference in amounts of snow you will experience. I grew up in Central New York where the average yearly snowfall is easily over 100 inches.

Coats: I would highly recommend two coats, one long for those terrible blizzard like days so that the majority of your legs are covered, something like this. Then a second nicer coat for typical days or events, something like this.

Hats: If your coat has a hood, you can get by without a hat. If you do wish for a hat, get some like this that you can pull down on your head. Alternatively, if you wear your hair up a lot get this.

Scarves: Scarves are great, get several in various colors and thickness. Make sure they are wide as well as long so you can pull them up over your chin on those windier days. Otherwise, they are a great way to dress up your coat while keeping you warm.

Gloves: If you drive you want a pair of gloves in the car just to use to pump gas so you don't have to touch the cold pump while keeping gas from getting on your nice gloves.

Boots: This really varies with area, some people are content in their Uggs. However, places with more snow that you may have to walk through several inches daily I would recommend something with a rubber bottom and sturdier body than Uggs such as these.

Clothes: Don't focus on just long sleeve shirts, these can sometimes be too thin for a winter day. Consider some stand alone sweaters or a few cardigans to wear over short sleeves or those thinner long sleeve shirts. Plus, cardigans are great for layering as some buildings really crank up the heat and others do not (and I just love cardigans obviously).

Sorry this is super long. Hope it helps! I was not very selective in my examples, there are definitely better looking/more fashionable options out there for each item.

I don't think I've been "formally" introduced to you lovely people even though I've seen some of your contests going on here before ;)

For gift one: Either [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Neff-Womens-Cupcake-Beanie-Velvet/dp/B005HSWZNK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=39B8AKCSDRT5J&coliid=I1UFRCZ07903KE&psc=1) or [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Ticket-Stub-Diary-Eric-Epstein/dp/1452114226/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1NPR8WP3XYH58&coliid=IXBG9Y68EXA72) both I've been wanting for a long time because I saw that hat on a little girl at the school I used to work for and have been obsessed but can't find it anywhere, and I collect tickets from everything I go to... so having a way to organize them would be awesome!

For gift 2: Also decently under $20 is [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Kyjen-Tail-Teaser-Dog-Refill/dp/B0042I5G2I/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2IR97ZBE8XCJR&coliid=I27I9XMHLTKH2U) which I would absolutely love because I just moved (again) and need to spend more time with my pups!

So c'mon...gimme something good! :b

(I don't know you, but I love you, you wonderful and beautiful people, you!)

u/courbple · 1 pointr/minnesota

First, don't believe the hype. You don't need the type of winter clothing that make you look like a deep-sea diver. Just make sure you have long underwear (I prefer the Under Armor or similar black neoprene stuff), and a few layers for your torso (base layer of similar material to long underwear, long-sleeve shirt, hoodie or sweater, jacket). That will keep you warm all winter, especially if you are a student and won't be spending a ton of time outside.

For hats: any old winter hat will do, but generally speaking the thicker and longer the better. If you're really sensitive to cold, consider getting a hat like this one. It will cover your ears and keep them warm.

Mittens are warmer than gloves, but are less useful. i'd guess the majority of folks up here own gloves, but a lot of folks own mittens too so it's just down to preference. Look for any brand that includes Thinsulate, and again thicker are better.

For boots I honestly rarely wear true "winter" boots unless I'm going ice fishing or something. For everyday use, I'd just wear normal hiking boots or tennis shoes with a couple pairs of socks (one thin and one thick over top of that.) If you have the "woven" type of tennis shoes, maybe consider getting an actual pair of boots. Sorel and North Face are probably the two most common brands, and again look for Thinsulate material if you're really worried about warmth.

In truth, you'll acclimate to the weather after a month or month and a half.

The most important thing to keep in mind is car stuff. If your car battery is older than 3 years, get a new one with the highest cold cranking amps rating you can find that fits your model of car. Invest in a pair of jumper cables, the longer the better. A lot of locals (including myself) don't put winter tires on our cars, but if I lived in Duluth I probably would. They help a lot in snow and ice, and Duluth has a lot of hills. Invest in an ice scraper that has a blade and a brush for getting accumulated snow off your car's roof and windows. Some people swear by brass blades, but I have never found them necessary. Plastic works just fine. Some people put a winter survival kit in their car that includes food, candles, & blankets. You don't need to do this unless you plan on making solo trips to remote parts of the state. Just make sure you have a phone charger and maybe a blanket and you'll be fine.

u/maybetrailmix · 2 pointsr/femalehairadvice

You have a super pretty face! I think you'd look great with short hair. Generally, I think that girls that like how their hair looks pulled back will like how it looks short. If you don't like your hair in a ponytail or pulled away from your face, even if it looks good, you'll probably feel self-conscious.

But in my opinion, it'd be adorable!

I, personally, like longer sideburns like this. I think it frames the face better.

Make sure to get a hairdresser that is good at cutting pixies though! If he messes up then you'll probably have to wait to grow it out, since it's so short and drastic. Mine was nervous about cutting my hair too short, which was a total mistake at first- it was kind of fluffy and frizzy. He cut it down to 2-4 inches next time because he knew I was serious.

I'd say get some cute hats, bandanas, and headbands. It can take a little while to adjust to styling it, and I found that mine got frizzy sooo much easier once it was short. If it's wet and it's windy out, it'll definitely get messed up. Either carry a small brush with you to fix it up once you arrive someplace or throw on a hat. I bought this one for growing my pixie out and love it. I wish I'd had it before.

If your wife is making clothing for herself, its pretty hard to do your own darts, and fitting adjustment while you wearing your muslin/prototype. I often get roped into doing lots of fitting work for my SO, and it isn't my strong suite.

I have used fabulous fit before, it is a pretty good product, and you can apply the kit to a much cheeper form (like this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W64OQ76/ ) and it (the form) should last you a fair bit. The stand on these things is garbage, one of ours is now on the base from an old ikea light and still holding up strong. The fabulous fit is transferable to a better form if you decide to pick one up later, and it is easy to add more padding and batting if you need it.

There is no way to be delicate about this next part, please don't be offended in any way by it.

36-E is rather large, and it isn't common enough that a most commercial patterns are going to fit with out some fairly heavy modifications. It is also a lot of tissue who's appearance is fairly easy to alter based on what undergarments and foundation wear are being used. This might mean that "fits on the form" doesnt fit at all.

However I am NOT dissuading you from going down the route of getting a dress form, and putting it to use. If at any point you wife wants to do draping, or attempt a new cut, it will be helpful for the initial prototypes/muslins.

Based on all of the above, here is what you should do after you have the form in hand, and it is going to require some tools (tracing paper, oak tag, rulers...) and some patience. It is probably in her best interest to build out some custom slopers, in what ever her favorite style/cut is. First fitting on the dress form, then with actual fittings on her, with various pieces of foundation wear. The idea is to end up with one basic pattern that works, and provides enough wearing ease while maintaining the desired look. Once you have this move it to oak tag, and cut and sew a fresh garment from it. Make sure it fits HER, and the go back and re-pad out the dress form again so that this custom garment is form fitting, leaving you with a dress form that is a bit bigger than the form is taking up a bit of the wearing ease she would naturally put into any garment.

Im not going to lie to you, it is a LOT of work, and some of it is going to be rather repetitive, and error prone, but it SHOULD be done. The form ends up being a foundation, the sloper ends up being a tool, and with them both at hand, and the experience of making them, it will be much easier to alter commercial patterns to fit her, and open up the door to making your own from scratch.

I fully recommend drinking, swearing and outdoor activities as pleasant interruptions to the above activities....

This item would be a wonderful addition to my school supplies. It would be meant for relaxing after a long day of studying for my final Potions exam, of course.

This item would be perfect for helping to clean off Seamus Finnigan in our Transfiguration class. He's always getting himself blown up.. OR...This item because they also have bristles and are good for cleaning up bugs. Absolutely perfect for Herbology!

This would be perfect to bring for warmth when sending out post in the winter. I mustn't forget my owl!

Something to help me study for my Care of Magical Creatures class. Don't know what I'd do without it. But surely this would help me at least carry such items since I'd have many to drag around from class to class.

A final thing that would help with my magic school endeavors, a secret place to hide Neville's toad, Trevor. (Or to hide my student-illegal potions and whatnot :P).

I get my Abbey Caps on Amazon though I’ve seen them at hospital gift shops and I discovered my first one at my specialty drugstore/gift shop. I love the ruffled ones but they also have lacey ones, lacey with some sequins, knit ones, patterns, tons of choices. That page I linked to is just one of several, but even on that there are lots. I don’t see a good chocolate brown one anywhere right now, but I have one, so I know they exist. I have hot pink, red, blue, turquoise, black, purple, and magenta all in ruffles, and a black lace with sequins for “fancy” occasions (though I usually wear a wig when I dress up.)

They’re fun to accessorize with my clothes, they’re more comfortable than wigs, they fit really well because they’re stretchy, you don’t have to tie anything just pull them on, they’re easy to wash, and they’re pretty. I HIGHLY recommend them!

My aunt got my baby the cutest stuffed giraffe , it lights up and plays music

I bet this 3D giraffe's head in a window wall decal would look great in your house!

And in my opinion, these giraffe leggings are amazing, and clever!

This is freakin' adorable a giraffe straw holder!

If you're like me, you love beanies that are shaped like cute animals such as giraffes

I love League of Legends!

You have a pet, right? And he's this cute little frog thing with giant eyes and a big happy mouth. He's hungry and you have some candy, but you accidentally slipped and fell and got it tangled around a bunch of ropes and obstacles. So you need to get the candy back to his mouth because if you don't, he'll make this face: :C and it's really sad. When you get close, he opens his mouth and goes "BLAH" in excited anticipation. When you finally get the candy into his mouth, he makes this face: C: and he loves you forever happily ever after the end.

Edit: Oh yeah wishlist stuff. This kitty hat is pretty cute. Or I have a wishlist for items under $5 if you wanna surprise me. Thanks for the contest!

u/arguewithatree · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I got surgery in August on my scalp and to cover the huge scar/bald spot, I got super into pre wrapped turbans and I really like them! I went out to a nice dinner wearing this one in black and people LOVED it. It's a look I'd come back to again.

And warm fuzzies and good vibes if you need em ✨✨

u/kellsdbq · 3 pointsr/Gifts

I think a nice blanket is a good idea, something everyone can use and no age limit. I got a really nice super soft blanket cheap on amazon that has turned into a staple on my couch. Lots of department stores have them on special this time of year.

If you are in an area where it gets cold what about a nice knit hat?
I LOVE these, they come in all kinds of colors

Or a portable charger for the ipads and iphones.

I'm way late but I came here looking for the same topic! I have two ideas so far:

  1. Lean into the cozy. Get flannels and hats, have a hot chocolate bar, play a lot of board games.
  2. I played this cooking game once and it was actually super fun. It was sort of like Chopped, we split into teams and each got different ingredients and made dinner together. The bride was the judge. It was fun and cozy and also we got dinner out of it.

Might be the case, the possum fur can only be sourced from New Zealand, part of the UK commonwealth. Goes without saying that I'm living in the UK.

Did a quick search for you and found this on USA amazon however.

It seems good. The one I'm wearing is very similar, 40% possum fur, 10% nylon (gives a lot of strength) and 50% merino wool. The one linked is 35% fur, 55% wool, 10% silk. I have no clue what the silk does for it.

Overall I'd definitely reccomend it. The knit is very small and double layer, making it pretty windproof. Also, because of the tight knit, imo, it gives for a smart look when compared to the chunky knit patterns, its smooth.

ive recently invested in mine and im extremely happy with it. its very very soft, and toasty. i wish i could live inside it. weather here in manchester is quite cold.

i went for the natural color of the fur, it's a light brown color. kind of like the color of a wine cork bottle.

edit: the mocha colour option on the american site is the most similar to the one ive got. usa has good colour options.

All I want for Christmas is gifts made with love :)

I've always wanted a personalized gift, you know?

Honestly, a nice warm hat would be lovely for this winter :D

u/newaddress1997 · 2 pointsr/asktransgender

Oh yeah, for sure then! Maybe sweater dresses with thermal tights and whatever type of boots you like (uggs, riding, combats, actual snow boots) could be a cute winter outfit?

Also I don't know how you feel about your current winter gear, but I live in boston (cold and windy but not like Alberta) and I like to go with an infinity scarf that I can pull over my nose and mouth when walking in the wind (but otherwise looks like a cute accessory). Also cute winter hats :)
