Yeah there are

I have a pair of these in green (they're pretty comfortable) and they protect pretty well. They have a pad on the bone in the ankle and it's pretty nice I got mine from Dick's for about 10 dollars

u/go_nahuel · 6 pointsr/xxfitness

Get some shinguards like they use in soccer in the mean time, haha. Ones like these slip in and out of socks easily, so they might make a good addition to your lifting equipment

u/T1978_sach · 1 pointr/MTB

This is what I got:http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004QVMB24

They work great, good coverage and not bad in the comfort area. I have taken a few falls in them and have no marks on me!

A couple of friends use these for deadlifts

http://www.amazon.com/RockTape-Skins-climbs-cleans-snatches/dp/B00MSW5IJ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411671061&sr=8-1&keywords=deadlift+shin+guard

Since I typically do deadlifts the same day as squats, I'll have my rehband knee sleeves already on so I'll just slip them down just below my knees. Cleaning meat/blood off a barbell in a big public gym is no fun.

Long socks don't really help either

I didn't intend to hit my shin that hard but the york barbells our gym use have super sharp/deep grippy parts.

I'm a fan of shin skins made by rock tape. They are thinker than socks, and the way I clamp the rope I have burned mine up. If I was just wearing long socks, I would still have rope burns. But that is a personal preference and a technique thing with me.

These aren't the exact one I have, mine just slip over my calves. I think they've improved the design with these and are better intended for this purpose over a knee sleeve

I use Storelli BodyShield shin guard holders (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008QA6ZWS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_66GwDbBQ8TW9V) to hold Nike Mercurial Lite guards. The Storelli holders give me outside of ankle and leg padding when diving and sliding on some of the rocky and rough pitches I play on, while still staying pretty slim and out of the way. My only complaint is the heel strap part can get rolled over itself if I'm not careful getting my socks over them. If I had nicer pitches in my area I would probably just use standard sleeves with my guards.

I've started doing a lot of deadlifts again, and ordered a pair of these:

Rocktape Rock Guards, Black, Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HEP5XF6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Wished I'd ordered these years ago; they work better than I dared hope

u/stackofthumbs · 2 pointsr/bmx

$10 pair of soccer shin guards is a life save for stuff like that. This is what I use.

u/CrappyBark · 1 pointr/cosplay

A possible "close fit" option

Leg Guards

All the other stuff I can find is the real deal($600 + tactical ballistic armor lol)

If all else fails, what are you skills with a sewing machine? Those look like nylon and poly with Styrofoam inserts could turn out pretty good but would just take a while to make

Edit: Forearm possibly?

u/pc_load_letter_in_SD · 1 pointr/spartanrace

Yeah, the wife likes to use S hook...She gets rb so bad it draws blood.

These are kinda cool....https://www.amazon.com/Rocktape-Protection-Compression-Breathable-RockGuards/dp/B012D01ULM

u/poi_nado · 2 pointsr/bmx

Thanks for the tip! Here's a link I found if anyone follows: $29 - G-Form shin guards

u/KrixelKroxer · 1 pointr/wma

I've never had experience with strapless shin guards, but do you think wrapping THESE STRAPS over would work just as well as socks over it?

u/Agenda337 · 3 pointsr/rollerderby

I just go to Dick's and get whichever ones they have that look like this: https://www.amazon.com/adidas-Performance-Energy-Legend-Medium/dp/B01MQUH2I4/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1505224049&sr=8-11&keywords=shin+guard+adult

I like the ones that go under my heels because they have little hard discs on the ankle bones. Plus I don't have to worry about wearing a particular sock to keep them on.

u/eyeffensive · 2 pointsr/wma

There are very few HEMA products on Amazon right now, definitely not enough to make a full kit. There are some pieces that are alright though.

  • Piranha Gloves - Decent light gloves, for classwork NOT for sparring
  • Red Dragon Helmet - A good entry level helmet
  • Red Dragon Shin/Knee - Good leg protection, though you can find similar motocross-style leg protection on Amazon for cheaper too

There are also books by Guy Windsor which I'd recommend. I would avoid the Red Dragon gloves, they fall apart quickly and are no good for steel sparring. I would avoid the Rawlings and Cold Steel synthetic trainers, the Rawlings are floppy crap and the Cold Steel are rigid dangerous crap.
u/Jganzo13 · 2 pointsr/soccer

Oh I don't use ones with straps. Let me see if I can find a pair close to what I got.

Edit: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/adidas-adult-predator-messi-10-lesto-soccer-shin-guards-17adiamss10lstgdbscs/17adiamss10lstgdbscs

I got something like these, but a little smaller and all white.

Edit 2: https://www.amazon.com/Nike-J-Football-Shin-Guard/dp/B000V6QNS6/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1549293306&sr=8-22&keywords=shin+guards

These are exactly what I have. Never have any problems with them

u/AsianBeast1996 · 12 pointsr/MMA

I just sparred MMA for the first time the other day and holy fuck is that another level of tiring. Never talking shit about a fighter gassing ever again.

One question: I found it pretty difficult to grapple in the fat twins shinguards. Though a part of that could be attributed to inexperience, would it be better to have the thinner MMA shin guards and use them both for MMA and Kickboxing?
