Here's what I wore...
Balacava. I actually bought this one, but I prefer my smart wool one. I paired the thinner/lighter smart wool one with a beanie style
Ski Gloves I would sometimes pair these with a thinner layer of cotton gloves under neither. I think they are Columbia brand, but the brand doesn't really matter. The other pair of gloves I would wear are the lobster style gloves. I prefer the Oakley gloves over the lobster, but both work really well.
For my body, I'd do a compression base layer that had a sort of microfleece lining. I'm not sure if these do or not, but I've used under armor and nike combat brand. Both work well and I didn't notice a difference.
I'd then layer on top of that a smart wool jacket. I can't find any pictures of it online. It is a super thin, but very warm jacket that basically has a really insulated front and back. Side panels that breath really well and let out excessive heat. Modern jackets can be really thin and really warm.
For the bottoms, I used smart wool phd tights/leggings. I can't find a picture of what I used, but they aren't wind proof. They are a couple model years old. I also have another couple pairs of leggings I'd sometimes swap in. I preferred the smart wool phd leggings over the others, but almost anything will work here.
Layered over that I wore Kuhl Pants. I think those are the pants, but it something like those if that isn't the exact model.
Then I wore bike specific boots and wool socks.
The coldest I rode in was about -17 wind chill and this worked pretty well for everything from that up to about 20 degrees. It was a 20 - 40 minute commute depending on snow/wind/ice.
I hope that is helpful. Non-bulky gear is going to be more expensive generally. Non-bulky stuff is also going to fit tighter. I used to weigh 300 lbs and the last thing I wanted to wear was some tight clothing in the middle of winter that showed off my body. I get it. I never really got over it much, but if you want warm, non-bulky gear, it is going to fit tightly probably.
I honestly use mountain biking shorts (even on my really long rides) which are somewhat tight once I'm sitting down, but they have like 6 pockets which is useful for wallet, cliff bar, napkins to blow my nose, and phone. Then I just get these compression shirts which work awesome.
Also the mountain biking shorts I use have a separate padded liner I can use for long rides once you get to that point, but honestly I'm fine not using a padded liner for anything 20 miles and under.
https://www.amazon.com/TSLA-Sleeve-T-Shirt-Compression-Baselayer/dp/B07DTCKZ4X/ref=mp_s_a_1_24?crid=22POKGU5JWDIO&keywords=tesla%2Bmens%2Bbase%2Blayer&qid=1550374140&s=gateway&sprefix=tesla%2Bmens%2Bbase&sr=8-24&th=1&psc=1
But dont feel bad not using a tight shirt. A lot of my rides that around fitness rides around 10 miles I'll just put on a dry fit gym shirt and go ride. You will feel a difference with the tight shirt and it not having a bunch of wind resistance, but it's definitely not a necessity for riding.
Also, for gloves I wear some specialized gel padded gloves. They were like $40 at my LBS but honestly worth it. I have to use gloves because my hands sweat and get slippery on the bars, but the padding on the palms is a nice bonus to suppress the pressure on your hands.
Good luck!! I’m sure everything will go well, it’s a big build up with anxiety/nerves as you get closer, but there’s really nothing to worry about. The procedure and recovery aren’t nearly as bad as you think it will be.
In terms of tips, I’d say there’s no need to go crazy with things before the surgery, I’m pretty sure they prefer you taper down with the lifting/heavy exercise 2 weeks before. Also stop using any vitamins/supplements 2 weeks prior, and make sure they know of all meds you take.
The process is pretty standard, I’d say just make sure you get all the bloodwork done and paperwork/consents filled out more timely than I did (left myself rushing around a week before which didn’t help anxiety wise).
Definitely a few days before your date, make sure you have 3-5 compression shirts that are a size smaller than you normally wear. I’m an xl and bought 4 larges. You’ll wear these under your chest wrap/vest. The UA heatgear is working absolutely perfect so far so I definitely recommend these . Also stock up on a ton of Gatorade, the surgeon said it helps with recovery, and Tylenol extra strength. Stouffers mac & cheese, Tylenol and gatorade was my diet for day 0 & day 1.
Oh, I felt myself getting angrier as I read thru this, perhaps as a professional and boss in an allied field If I had overheard this I would have fired her on the spot, and publicly, too. What she said and more importantly, what she did was absolutely positively totally unacceptable under any and all circumstances. It was at best, mean, and at worst, elder abuse. If anything, I think you handled yourself with tact, class and grace..and furthermore, you could have not only kicked it (and her!) up a notch or two, but then taken it to DDL's supervisor, which I would strongly encourage you to do so. Then, I'd like to offer you a job. I pay very well, too.
I think you should give your grandma a big bouquet of flowers next time you see her, give her an even bigger hug and kiss, tell her how much you love her and how beautiful you know she is, and get her a pair of comp socks..I know exactly what you mean...that are at least less grotesque: https://www.amazon.com/Pairs-Compression-Socks-Women-Men/dp/B01N5LOWIK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1536246154&sr=8-5&keywords=compression+socks
And take her out for a lovely dinner.
It's hard getting old and losing what you had as it indicates at some point there will be nothing left to lose which is the terrifying part. The people charged with understanding and being sensitive to and supportive of that should do so, there is ever and acceptable level of teasing.

Description|Hey everyone! In preparation for my red eye flight in September, I’ve compiled a list of 12 tips to get you asleep on your next overnight flight. The goal is to have a full night sleep on the plane so I can enjoy my first day in Scotland without feeling too weird, tired and cranky. Plus, hopefully it’ll set me up for a mostly jet-lag free trip! I hope you find these tips helpful, and if you have any tips on your own I’d love to hear them!⤶⤶Things mentioned: ⤶⤶Disposable toothbrushes-⤶https://www.amazon.com/Colgate-Wisp-Fresh-Portable-Mini-Brush/dp/B00LMITRLM/ref=pd_aw_sim_194_1/140-4379758-0458968?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00LMITRLM&pd_rd_r=23968d21-7200-4dbb-9eb7-1a5fd687443b&pd_rd_w=RxTQF&pd_rd_wg=ZKAoX&pf_rd_p=469620d9-3e90-496d-9dc8-b19f900ba5fe&pf_rd_r=J4HPYSK9R2FHBQBGG42Z&refRID=J4HPYSK9R2FHBQBGG42Z⤶⤶Melatonin-⤶https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000GG6D9A/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1⤶⤶Travel pillow-⤶https://www.amazon.com/Everlasting-Comfort-Memory-Airplane-Earplugs/dp/B06WWFYCSG⤶⤶Travel blanket-⤶https://www.amazon.com/Cabeau-Fold-Travel-Blanket-Case/dp/B00LWAC1UE?th=1&psc=1⤶⤶Lavender filled sleeping mask-⤶https://www.etsy.com/listing/717378131/unavailable-from-813-823-sweet-dreams?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=lavender+sleeping+mask&ref=sc_gallery-1-1&plkey=c0a0bf5c81ffe58b82897ecbc371e9fcc3cabd7e%3A717378131&frs=1⤶⤶Compression socks-⤶https://www.amazon.com/Compression-Running-Athletic-Pregnancy-15-20mmHg/dp/B074MW1MTW/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?keywords=compression+socks&qid=1565214332&s=gateway&sr=8-6⤶⤶Anti-pressure ear plug-⤶https://www.amazon.com/Original-EarPlanes-Healthcare-Airplane-Protection/dp/B0000C1KT4⤶⤶No jet-lag supplement-⤶https://www.amazon.com/Miers-Labs-Homeopathic-Remedy-Count/dp/B00007KUX7/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=no+jet+lag&qid=1565214569&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Greetings Team Kal-El, yes I might nerd out a bit.
Pretty excited to see some Super Hero action going on. I guess I will need to buy my first DC running compression shirt... I have a bunch of Marvel stuff.
If anyone needs support or motivation, let me know!
Let's go through a meat grinder
shirt
Pants
Shoes
Water bottle
I am a comic book lover so Superman is a good insperation for working out
The pants look like they would be comfortable to work out in.
Cant go wrong with New Balance for comfort.
And the Shaker Bottle Sport is one of the best water bottles I own
The good thing about Florida in the summer is that it is often cloudy and rainy. Not that you necessarily want that on your holiday, but it does help bring the heat down a bit and lessen (a bit) the amount of burning.
Get a big hat. Wear it. A lot. And then I would wear long sleeves and trousers if I were you. Look, you're going to feel hot and sweaty anyway. I'd rather be marginally hotter and a bit more protected if I burned as easily as you than to try to wear short sleeves and end up miserable with a burn. If you buy a thinner weave of clothing that is not rated with a UPF, it will still provide at least some protection and not be as hot as a thicker weave. Wear your sunscreen underneath. You could buy sun sleeves like these that you can wear with a t-shirt and remove when you get inside. A rashguard for the beach is another idea. And of course the beach tent idea is great too.
Sorry, I don't have a great sunscreen recommendation. The ones you buy in the UK will be better than we can get in the US.
Completely personal but beyond a good baselayer nothing else I own is running specific for the winter. Up top I'll usually use a compression shirt and then layer a few shirts on top of that culminating in a hoodie (the front pocket is clutch for carrying extra tissues or storing your hat/gloves). Layers are your friend. Bottom wise I'll do compression shorts and/or tights depending on how cold it is and another pair of shorts over top just for another layer. Other than that I wear my normal socks, a buff if needed, a knit hat, and some light gloves. This setup has carried me through the coldest and windiest parts of the winter last year. I made a quick down and dirty jumping off point for you to look at some decent, affordable gear: Tesla tights, Tesla top, Reflective knit hat, Buff, Headlamp, Lightweight gloves. You may want to look at maybe some windproof layers, wool socks, or heavier gloves depending on what the weather actually looks like near you. I wasn't a fan of the yak trax style grips and ended up just using my trail running shoes a lot in the winter, just be careful.
Honestly I haven't been having the greatest time in my life recently only a handful of people know what's actually going on I'm not one to share my personal life that much with lots of people. I honestly have been trying my best to stay positive with everything and just remind myself that I've had it worse so I know I can get through this. Honestly my vericose veins have been getting worse so I could use these compression socks thanks for a wonderful contest.
I'm a 8 year BJJ practitioner located in NYC whom recently launched my athletic line, Optimal Human, exactly on New Years Day (12:01am). For those that are in the market for a rash-guard with less flair and higher attention to quality consider Optimal Human. Based off of my experiences and other NYC based athletes key features of my product include:
--> Under-arm Mesh Panels: Increased breathability and cooling attributes
--> Re-enforced Stitching: Reduces the probability of your shirt un-threading
--> Extra Length: We added several inches to the length of the shirt so that it will not ride up your stomach while you are training
We sell exclusively on Amazon so free 2-day shipping for Prime Customers. Thanks for considering Optimal Human. Peace

It'll change. When you're standing up, the fat is spread out and stretched. When you sit down, obviously less area means concentration of the fat. If you keep losing weight, there will be less to concentrate. So, though it'll still look bigger when sitting, it'll look less so.
I was at 250+ at my heaviest. Back then, I used to try on my clothes and see how they fit when I sat. So, I would put on an XL that was already snug. But sometimes I git just the right shirt that was snug but not too much, and it made me look almost like I was 10-15 lbs lighter. But then, when I sat, I looked like the michelin man. Uhg.
Anyway, I'm down 70 lbs now (as of today) and though I still have the problem, It's nowhere near what it used to be like. I mean, It's like I had to buy really baggy shirts just so that I could not look like a packed sausage when I sat down.
Try using compression shirts or shape wear. I use this compression shirt. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018IXG5GI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I buy it in the smallest size possible to get the maximum compression. good luck!
Yes. I've tested the three different under-armor vents: TacVent, ArmorVent and the 221B MaxxDri vest. TacVent is hands down the best. The ArmorVent is an inflatable air bladder. It's kind of a pain in the ass and because of the way its constructed, doesn't allow for good airflow under the vest. The 221B does a better job, but its construction leads it to being a sweat sponge.
I've been wearing TacVent since the V1. I recommend it to all the new boots and about 20 dudes on my squad are wearing them. Get both front and rear panels. You will actually feel the hot air rising out of your vest under your chin and once you get back in the AC you can feel the cool air circulating between you and your armor. It works if you wear external or concealable armor. I have sets on my patrol vest and my swat vest. I also recommend that you NOT wear cotton t-shirts, since they just soak up sweat and don't evaporate. If you pair TacVent with something like these: DRSKIN] Compression Tight Short... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0162EMWJY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share you'll be almost dry and stink-free at the end of a 12hr shift. These are just as good as the Under Armor shirts for about 1/2 the cost.
Is that the Australian flag? I don't think winter means what you think it means. The tips for that type of weather are pretty straightforward:
If it gets a bit colder (0 to -5 C) you can layer on a top microfleece and some wind pants of some kind if you find that you have to. I recommend wool socks and shoe covers and perhaps some warmer gloves as well.
Don't forget the riding glasses. But you wear those anyhow, right?
You’re saying no gi?
If you have a few days, there are some nice setups on amazon for relatively cheap.
I usually go with some compression pants and muy thai shorts, and a tight fitting shirt from hm
Honestly any compression pants and shorter/fitted sports overtop should do just fine. Don’t be the guy that just wears compression pants and has his penis outline out in the open. It can make people uncomfortable. I made the mistake my very first nogi class and one of the guys was BUSTING on me lmao. Instead of a rash guard I usually just use the long sleeved slim fit shirts from h&m. They fit pretty tight, are stretchy, and haven’t given me any problems. Here are links to some of my no gi purchases from amazon. If you don’t want to use amazon because of fitment issues or whatever, Dick’s sporting goods and pretty much any sports store should have compression clothing which you can try on. Hope this helps

I picked up 4 pairs of THESE for Costa Rica and they were great, sink washed they took like 15 hours or so to dry so while I added 1 to the standard set of 3 (wear one, wash one, dry one) I didn't need it, I would have gotten off ok with 3.
I liked the Darn Tough merino wool socks, so I got 4 pairs of them, and the same thing applied.
For shirts, I wore Under Armor compression shirts most of the time because i found that they dried a LOT faster than even my Merino Wool t shirts and they were comfortable.
I can't give you any suggestions for a jacket as I didn't bring one to Costa Rica.
Same boat. This is really awesome for while you are in Tanner 1 or 2 and can’t present as you would like. I wore it today with a white and tight T-shirt on while in Tanner 2 and you couldn’t tell I had any breast growth. It was about 100 out as well and it didn’t feel like I had two layers on. It could’ve been cooler too or maybe that’s me buying into the advertising but for sure comfortable to wear all day.

I have a size small btw (It could be a tiny bit tighter.) I’m 5’6” and 115lbs.
Besides everything you mentioned...running shorts for bottoms (I also wear compression tights underneath since I hate crawling on grass etc), dri fit/ compression shirts for tops (you would want to wear something that dries quick and especially, don't want to wear anything loose). NO glasses. It will be too much of a burden and a high chance of losing them in those semi-deep water obstacles..it's all on you really. Also, for shoes, I would always duct tape mine around my laces since I don't like to donate them and of course, to prevent rocks etc from getting inside; it really helps!! You could check out how I taped up my shoes in this video (have been running in these shoes for over 5 years lol).
https://youtu.be/IyYSj9_l4VE?t=1m21s
and for my tights etc..I wear this set for years. Still going like a champ! (buy a size or 2 larger tho, it's pretty tight). and GOOD LUCK!

I have had skin cancer in the past, so I now try to stay covered up more with UV protective clothing. The arm sleeves have become a favorite because it allows me to wear cute summer tops and still have protection. I think they look kinda cute with a tank top or sundress too, lol. There are quite a few options in uv protective clothing that keeps you cool and covered up.
UV arm sleeves
Not a server, but I just bought these. Not TOO tight and a pretty good deal.
edit: to wear after knee surgery.
I just get the cheap generic ones that aren't really marketed specifically for grappling. Like these
I'm definitely not your target demographic because I don't like anything at all on my gear; graphics, logos, etc. But I'm sharing my preferences in comfort and fit.
I’ve been using UV sleeves for the past 2 summers. Keeps you clean, cool, and protects you from sunburn. I swear by these things.

I wear those to reduce swelling in my ankles, sometimes. They're called compression socks.
These are exactly the ones I have. They're surprisingly comfortable.
Come see us at /r/cosplay it's a great community!
Also, here's a link to some compression sleeves that come in white. They might be what you're looking for
https://www.amazon.com/Elixir-Cooling-Protective-Compression-Available/dp/B018V2L9O4
In my experience they prevent sweating and such because of the material they are made from. Some actually keep you cooler. They make working over the grill a much better experience. https://www.amazon.com/Elixir-Cooling-Protective-Compression-Available/dp/B018V2L9O4
If you get a chance, check it out.
I like these: https://www.amazon.com/Eclipse-Sun-Products-Sleeves-Medium/dp/B00CGDXQEG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469710759&sr=8-1&keywords=eclipse+sun+sleeves
They're much lighter weight than wearing long sleeves and they wick sweat, which actually does have a cooling effect. I've worn them hiking in 90+ F weather, in full sun.
