Whew, that was quite the task. Thanks for the contest!!!
Even with my younger students, I try to avoid simple "give-and-go" rewards (e.g. trophies, etc.) because I don't find them very motivating. Stars are essentially the same thing, and I don't really see the point.
My most successful rewards are interactive. I know this can be challenging due to time restraints - it's hard to teach a student a game or explain something too complex. I have found the easiest way to engage a student is to offer them choices within their reward.
Depending how often I see the student, their gender, and their VIPKid level, I offer students 2-3 options for rewards. My most popular rewards:
Treats for the household pet
Choices: Different colored/shaped treats
My pet dog and rats are now well accustomed to the sound of my "Teacher" voice and come running when I say "It's time for a treat!" I bought some colorful and fun shaped treats (stars, etc.) and students can choose which one they want to feed to the pets. Just make sure this is pretty limited with low calorie treats, because you don't want your pets getting fat! I pretty much reserve this for my regulars, and only for the regulars who seem to really enjoy it. I've actually received multiple requests from parents in the feedback to continue with this because the students talk to their parents about it after the lesson.
Colorforms and Sticker Faces
Choices: Infinite combination of stickers
This is hands down my most popular reward for girls. It's a lot more cost effective to laminate these stickers/face templates, glue magnets to the back, and re-use them on a baking sheet each time. For each reward, I use TPR and say, "Can you choose body part for your girl?" Then I will point to each option and say, "1, 2, 3, or 4?" They get the picture very quickly. There are other sticker templates you can purchase including re-usable sticker kits, etc. The faces are the most popular, however.
Alligator Game (or other similar options)
Choices: Which tooth
This game gets a lot of reactions from students, especially if you make a big deal about it. On the reward slide, I will say something like: "This is the Alligator Game. (Open alligator mouth.) You (point to student) pick a tooth (press on all the teeth until the jaws snap), and one of them bites the teacher! OUCH!" When they get a reward, I point to each tooth instruct the student to say STOP (use TPR) when they are ready. Every time they select a tooth, I make a big deal of looking anxious and terrified, then wiping my forehead and giving a big sigh of relief if it doesn't bite me. They love it.
There are lots of options like this as well. I see lots of things that give me ideas just browsing on Amazon (e.g. Pop the Pig, Shark Bite).
Cootie Bug
Choices: Different shaped/colored body parts
Here's the link for this reward. This one is for slightly younger students, but honestly most of my students enjoy it. On the reward slide, I will say, "We are going to build a Cootie Bug (point to picture on game card). What color body (TPR, point to body) would you like? Blue, purple, red, or green?" This game comes with a neat little die with different body parts on each side. When it comes time to reward the kids, I put the die in a clear jar and shake it and tell the students to say stop when they're ready. The students can choose which style of leg, head, antenna, eyes, and mouth they want.
There are lots of options here. Get creative, go to the toy store. See what weird games (usually I look for simple games aged 3-5) and see if you can adapt it to your reward. All the rewards I suggested cost around $20 (combined) and my rewards get a lot of mentions in the feedback. Let me know your thoughts and if you have any other questions! Good luck!
I have a few ideas. Here is a song we used to sing at my old elementary school in music class. It must have had an impact on me if I remember it. Also, an old favorite of mine was this song heard here.
Besides that, I recommend watching the creepier episodes of Adventure Time, like Into the Nightosphere
I think it's important to remember that these kids are only 5, so don't make anything too creepy, but I get how cool you want it, so try a few tricks with grown-up (but not super scary) lighting/decor. I like these colored orbs for the path inside. You can put these on some drinks for the grownups and sparkling cider for the kids. This stuff is great to cover ordinary lights with, and generally string around. Also, this mold could be pretty great without being too scary. These, these and these can help create the lighting effect you want. Also maybe a blacklight or strobe light to play up the cool effect. Generally [Spencer's] has some great light toys like this lamp, this disk, and a fake flame cauldron. I wish you luck! Just don't forget to run everything by the princess of the party to make sure she likes it! It's her party, so you have to play by her rules :)
Here is one of my Raffy's
All of the Munny figures are really great. They are made wonderfully and feel really nice. Here are other characters:
And then there are Tokidoki DIYs that are beautiful:
There are a few other DIY brands. They even have blank my little ponies (the classic MLP). There are a bunch though. The other cool ones I was thinking of that I liked are currently unavailable, but periodically poke around and look for "DIY blank figures"on amazon and they sometimes have neat random ones.
Raffy is personally my favorite of the Kidrobot Munny figures. I don't know why. xD
Dunno how well this would work for you or what your bathroom setup is, but we shower our 2yo and it's so much easier. Takes 5 minutes. We have one of those adjustable shower heads on a hose with a pause button. When he's being cranky about getting clean I put a chair in the shower so he can sit and tell him it's time to play in the rain INSIDE THE HOUSE! 😯 So fun! House rain! And just hype that excitement.
He also gets grumpy about us soaping him so I put soap on his scrubber and let him wash his own body, I only do his hair.
IDK if any of that is helpful to you, but it works for us so I thought it was worth a mention.
As the germs issue, maybe tell him germs LOVE to swim so if he wants his germs to be happy and healthy they have to go in the bathtub with him. If he likes stickers, maybe get him some germ stickers and he can have one as a reward after a bath?
This is something very near and dear to my heart as both I and my oldest nephew have food allergies. There are tons of fun, non-food items you can hand out to trick or treaters that they will love. My favorite to hand out has been play-do. Other good ones are those Mardi Gras necklaces, stickers, or stamp rings. Please consider at least adding a few different non-food items to your normal candy giving.
...Btw, if you are looking for cool teal pumpkins and don't want to paint one yourself, Amazon has a lot of neat ones to put out. I'm told Target sometimes has them as well.
Start by doing lots of sketches in black and white with a pencil or bic biro. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, overlap sketches, make notes and show your construction lines. Sketch in 2D and 3D, sketch details and forms.
Sketch faster. Sketching is exploration and your hand should be working fast to keep up with your brain! Here's a good example of black and white sketches with a little colour, note how they're not clean and perfect and you can see how they've been built
Only use colour where necessary - you're sketching not rendering. Use it to make the best ideas stand out, or to add detail such as material selection and exploration of colour choices.
Save up and get some decent marker pens. Magic markers or Letraset pro markers are good. 3 shades of neutral grey should do to start say N1, N3, N5. These are buildable and can be layered to create darker shades and the shades (C2, C4) in between. Use these to add simple shading and a group shadow, shading should be used to help communicate form. Sharpies are ok for outlining or adding a line of colour, not for colouring in areas.
Get an A3 marker or layout pad, the paper is semi transparent so you can trace over other sketches or use an underlay to speed up the sketching process. They also don't soak up the ink or bleed so your images will look crisper and marker pens will last longer. I say A3, because generally this is the paper size ID's use, so get used to filling that page! The brand doesn't matter but I usually use Goldline layout pads as the paper is whiter.
Practice, practice, practice. Copy other peoples sketches, a good book I always advocate when people are looking for sketching feedback is one called Sketching for Designers by Koos Eissen. If you can get a copy then try to recreate the sketches and emulate some of the techniques, your own style will come after. Otherwise look on Behance and try to recreate any ID sketches you like for practice.
Good luck :)

We're going to buy these bags and put a small handful of either cat or dog treats in each bag (only 1 type of treat per bag). Then, we ordered these stickers off of Amazon to seal the bags and help label whether a bag is filled with cat or dog treats. We'll also likely put cat treat bags and dog treat bags in separate well-labeled baskets just to make things easier for our guests. Any treats our guests don't take, we'll obviously bring home and our boys will be very excited to have them.
We'll be filling the dog treat bags with Milkbones (we got a 10 lb box off Amazon for $9 and they don't expire until May 2018) and we'll be filling the cat treat bags with Friskie's Party Mix (Petco had huge jugs of them on clearance last week for $5 and they don't expire until February 2018).
> This may be reaching, but you mentioned they seem more interesting at first glance. Any elaboration would be helpful.
I mean, I click on your toolset. What I see on the first photo is a book, some kind of a microcontroller with buttons and LEDs and two boxes labeled "electronic components" and "cables and wires". I have no idea what's in your kit without actually reading the description (and who does that in 2018 /s).
Now, I click on that other kit I linked. First photo and "woah, so many things!". Remotes, keyboards, batteries, joysticks and many other things that a newbie would not be able to even name but they still see them at least. It just gives you this instant feedback "this is a good set, it has ALL those things!"
Now, let's talk unique. Something similar to your starter kit that definitely accomplished this was Chibitronics:
https://www.amazon.com/Chibitronics-Lights-Circuit-Stickers-Starter/dp/B00OPSNR94
You literally plug LEDs straight ON a book (no board at all) and this... works. Look at demo video for instance:
https://chibitronics.com/
And heck, this part of Chibitronics family is $5 cheaper than your kit too. And frankly at a first glance it shows it's uniqueness and makes one want to buy it.
So at the very least I would try to create a feeling that buyer gets more stuff than what you currently show. As clean as it is, it just doesn't feel "sufficient" in my eyes compared to competitors.
Oh man, dropping my schedule/structure feels so good. It feels like taking off uncomfortable dress pants and then putting on fuzzy pajamas instead.
I'm working on making it less of a PITA, and I've found a couple things that seem to be working:
TL;DR: Baby steps. No really, the tiniest steps you can think of.
My toddler is a sticker
hoarderlover, if that counts! We love to draw and put stickers everywhere. They also make great bribes (potty training is hard yo!)If it counts I have quite a few sticker packs on his wishlist, like [these] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K435KOS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6PRUzb9267E3N), or some alphabet ones! Thanks for the contest :)
Five alive!
I would love to have these hello kitty stickers! I think they would be awesome to put on my planner to make my job a little more fun :) thanks for the contest
You can and there are a ton on Amazon. These are newer styles and I didn't see any of the originals. Just search on "scratch and sniff stickers" in Amazon to see more.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MY9ST0J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vVOVzbZE2XW0P
You could probably find vintage ones by searching on Google, but might be costly and may have lost their scent.
Good luck!
Edit: FOUND THEM ON ETSY!!! 😃😃😃

Thanks for the contest!
Peaceable Kingdom scratch and sniff are the best ones I have found. These but If you prefer amazon, I’m sure these have the same strong smell. There are a couple funky scents which are also fun to give students.
I love painting ceramic. It's so calming, yet gives me full creative lease. I know a lot of techniques that I've gotten from working at a ceramics shop and I just love doing it. 1.36 okay?

I could have written your post word for word. Try the Melissa and Doug removable stickers. www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Habitats-Reusable-Sticker/dp/B004PBN9BC They have consistently given me 20 minutes of peace since my son was about 18 months old. They are amazing and only $5 a set. Rotating his toys helps, too.

Don't know how long you would be staying in Milan, but PoGo plus is available for pre-order on Amazon IT at €39.99 free delivery. Dispatch on 29 Dec. Saw that it costs a lot in other Amazon sites. Other trainers in Europe may opt to get theirs from Amazon IT.

I have the olive one with the orange joysticks, because it kinda matched my carbon. It creaked everywhere, but I pried it open and put some of these underneath the casing shell where you grip it and between the shoulder buttons/casing. Try it, it feels pretty solid now, and no creaks - even after an excited 8 year old plays an extended session of rocket league with it.
Like rainskate said, definitely search "sticker sheets". Also, "planner sticker sheets", "scrapbooking stickers", "bullet journalling stickers", or "sticker book". You could also search more specifically, like "constellation stickers" or "
Hey there,
I ended up ordering two from Amazon Spain a few months back (one for me and my friend). They took a little longer to ship (like 2 weeks), and I had to pay an extra 10 for shipping but they arrived in working condition with our Andoid/Iphones. They are still up on the website (maybe this is a new stock or something)- https://www.amazon.es/Nintendo-1082166-Pok%C3%A9mon-Go-Plus/dp/B01HQ55NPI
I have also heard of people having luck with Amazon Italy, and France!

p.s. I'm playing that game right now...
We bought the Melissa and Doug reusable sticker book. He had fun taking them off the page (with our help) and putting them on the other sheet.
We flew a lot of red eyes around that age and weren't against giving him benedryl to help him sleep either.
Dude. Reusable sticker pads. Glorious!
Sofie stop licking my nose!
Stickers - They make me happy. I like to put them on all kinds of things.
Since these are large stars, I might even be able to use them as pasties for my husband... hahahaha or not

Keep on partying Slurms.
It looks like you can order it off Amazon.fr for only £40 including UK delivery. Just tried it now, says it should be here by 17th December.
For the age appropriate crafts, I suggest a sticker book. My five year old will play with them for some length of time. One brand that makes them is "Melissa and Doug". Here is one example of many styles and themes.
You can also get a box of crayons, markers and paper. Most five year olds love to draw. Other crafty stuff might include pipe cleaners, kid scissors, a glue stick and foam sheets or foam cutouts.
Also, I think it's cool that you are OK with this, but make sure the manager (grandma) sees that the kid is with you so you don't get called out for "bad work performance" when you are essentially doing your job and also keeping an eye on her granddaughter. Not knowing the whole situation, this sounds like the making of a double standard where the boss can bring a kid to work but if the workers tried to pull this they'd be told it was inappropriate. But I'm guessing that this might be the end result of someone having a really tough time and/or temporary until school starts, so sometimes you do what you have to do.
For those of you still trying to get your hands on a Go Plus, Amazon Spain has had them pretty readily available since initial release. It appears to be unavailable until the 22nd now, but all the way up until last week or so, they were in-stock. I even bought one the day after Black Friday with no issues.
I live in Cali and the order came in less than a week. You can use your preexisting Amazon account, and you're only paying slightly more than the USD MSRP (40EUR ≈ 40 USD).
Use a small round sticker and put a number on it.
