it's not available right now, but they cost about $12 when they are. if you drink cappuccino every morning, this is the BEST machine for the price. very easy to clean. i love mine! i leave it on the stove for about 10 minutes on low (electric stove here) and it works like a percolator.

also, i buy my espresso in bulk on amazon- cheaper and saves a trip to the store!
eneloop rechargeable batteries. mine were made by sanyo, and now panasonic makes them. no idea if there's a difference, but i bought them in bulk (20aa, 8aaa, some d spacers) a few years ago and they are still going strong. most rechargeables are awful! these are pretty good ones. i use them for my camera, fans, mini speaker, mp3 player. i have the usb charger, which i love, but i don't see it available. i prefer that because i can hook it up to my computer or a solar panel.

i love this little speaker! originally i used it for a cosplay a few years ago and now i use it for my mp3 player and as speakers for my laptop. i like the aa battery option, because i can just pop charged aa eneloop batteries in instead of dealing with a built in rechargeable battery. they're not as loud as a ghetto blaster and wouldnt work well in a car with the windows down, but for inside a studio apartment, it works.
http://www.amazon.com/iLuv-SmashBox-3-5mm-Portable-Speaker/dp/B002QPQNLC/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1405641425&sr=8-5&keywords=iluv+speaker
battery operated fans. sometimes i don't have air conditioning and my power goes out. these things are great for my small windows. they have bigger ones available. i've used them camping, too.

this headlamp is great for when i work on my car or the power goes out. it looks dorky on my head but hands free is so much easier! again, i use eneloops in it.
http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-High-Power-3AAA-Headlamp-Colors/dp/B0038NAVK0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405641830&sr=8-1&keywords=coleman+headlamp
I have a 3 cup Bialetti ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000AN3QI/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1418913949&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SY200_QL40 ). I figured if I was going to get one then I might as well get the one that has been around forever. I'm sure the others work just fine but I have really enjoyed this. I make and drink two of brews of this most mornings and wouldn't get anything bigger but that's just me. The "3 cup" option is just right for one person who drinks one or two cups a day.
There is also a moka brikka ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000AN3QN/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1418914211&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SY200_QL40 ) which is supposed to add more pressure to the equation and make something similar to an espresso with crema on top. I haven't used it but there are videos showing it off.
I just went into it not expecting a true espresso because that's not what you're going to get. But you are going to get a great tasting cup.
Like the other post said, it is some work to get it just right but I enjoy the work it takes. Makes the outcome more appealing and rewarding.
TL; DR Bialetti is great but others are probably similar. Moka Brikka is another option.
I primarily brew with my Chemex, and I absolutely love it. I've always wanted one of the Able Brewing heat lids to keep the coffee warm(er), but I'm not able to shell out $10 for a piece of rubber. The official Chemex glass lid looks great, but I've read that it slides around quite a bit (and again, it's $10).
I was looking for some kitchen supplies at Walmart last night, and I stumbled across this perfect solution. For 97¢, I picked up this clear rubber sink stopper which actually looks pretty decent on top of my Chemex (it doesn't slide around at all). It's nothing fancy, but I'm pretty happy with this find. It accomplishes what I need and looks better than putting a small spice bowl in my Chemex to block the evaporation.
Here's the Walmart link.
G'day Johnny-I am in Australia so if you put this into ebay US
"Stove Top Aluminum Espresso Coffee Maker Size 1 cup" you should be right.Or
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002R0EXP4/ref=dp_cerb_1?th=1 choose the one cup at $12 this looks like it!! Will weigh 120 gms to 145 grams I reckon.
Mine cost about $20 AUS. Just remember the imitations are lighter than the Bialettis -but there is some variation apparently of about 15 grams-what every Italian has been using for a century. But I have been using several imitation versions for nigh on 25 years and they just last. It does make a true one cup Italian espresso which is small, absolutely miniscule by US standards but it is the real thing strong with 7 grams of ground coffee in it. It is strong you take about 4-6 sips and it's gone, and you wont find a European (or even many Australian) home without one. I know Americans (and some Australians too!) love vast quantities of weak coffee -Italians scoff at the Americano but I thought someone might like the real thing. So as I said "coffee your own coffee" do what grabs you, but try this -you might never go back Ha ha! Cheers.
Moka Pot
[Hario Grinder] (http://www.amazon.com/Hario-MSS-1B-Mini-Coffee-Grinder/dp/B001804CLY/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1368467219&sr=1-1&keywords=hario+grinder)
Milk Frother
It won't be perfect, but at 100 bucks that's the best you are going to do. If you are looking for a machine, expect to spend ~250 bucks to get good shots, more than that if you want to do it easily.
I'm waiting with baited breath to see if http://zpmespresso.myshopify.com/ is going to change the whole home espresso game, but for now I'm rocking the Moka Pot and it honestly works pretty well for me.
Here's my opinion for what it's worth.
So I have had a lot of nespresso coffee (they have had one at every place I've worked at for the past four years).
At home I have a hand grinder and a Bialetti brikka. I can honestly say that I prefer my own mokka coffee / pseudoespresso that I make at home than any nespresso variety.
Mokka+hand grinder:
Nespresso machine:
Perhaps not exactly to your specification but definitely one of the best stovetop coffee makers on the market. Bialetti 12 cup Moka Express. By 12 cups, it means 12-2 oz servings which is equal to about 3 mugs of coffee. It can be used to make delicious espresso or if you go light on the coffee grounds, it will make a pretty mean cup of joe. Also these things last forever.
filling it with water that's already hot, and cooling the upper chamber with cold water before assembling it helps as well. basically keep the process as quick and the top as cool as possible.
really want to try this version that dispenses directly into cups for that reason, that should offer some degree of insulation.
oh and also clean your can from time to time (every week or so if used daily) by letting it brew with just water and no coffee, repeat once if necessary.
you can also try to adjust the coffee grounds, they are supposed to be more coarse than the coffee you use for drip coffee etc. also don't overstuff the coffee compartment, just lightly fill it and also account for volume increase of the grounds after heating.
following these tips will hopefully help you get better coffee out of your mokka can that are not bitter (overheated the top) or acidic (coffee not coarse enough, coffee overstuffed). however keep in mind that it always will taste stronger than drip, you won't big mild cans of coffee, but it's great if you like small full-bodies shots.
No offense but that's nasty, IMHO. Heated plastic leaching for the last 20 years cannot taste good or be healthy. Do yourself a favor and invest into something worthy to use for the rest of your life. A good French press or stovetop espresso maker is so worth it. Much better tasting, way nicer and artisan. I've been using this for the last 10 years Bialetti
If I were to buy a press, this would be it:French press
And if I were to buy anew stovetop: Vev Vigano
edit: learning to link
Yes I did see some of the cheaper ones. The one I picked had better reviews. This is for around INR850 and I might get it:
Thanks for your help! :)
PS:
What are ebay coupons?Ok read about them. The gaskets that were on my Bialetti pots when I first got them were hard and felt like very old rubber, likely was. I soaked them for a few hours in water, it seemed to have brought them back to a degree but there was still a groove left in them from the top portion.
It was bad enough that I needed to replace them within a few months. The replacement gaskets from Bialetti were slightly better, felt like a different type of rubber and didn't feel as stiff as the original. Overall I've learned wetting the gasket prior to assembly and loosening up the pot after it's cooled down has helped them keep retain their original shape. Does get annoying, I need to order some silicone gaskets soon.
Regret giving my "no name" moka pot away to a friend, thing was awesome.
I just bought the cheapest grinder they had at target. Mostly, I was annoyed at the fact that while whole bean was easy to find in the store, if I wanted to cold brew I had to special order beans ground to the right size. Store bought grounds only come in one size and it isn't good for cold brew. I can't really comment much on what the best grinder would be because I am still not experienced with them.
With the Moka Pot, a friend of mine has had one for a while and I enjoy the taste so I decided to get one for when I want hot brew. Do not get electric/plugin because that ruins how it works. This is the model I have. It makes about 2 shots of espresso and I have found that to be the perfect amount for making an Irish coffee.
A french press with some roasted beans or a stove top espresso maker. They have made me some of the best coffee ever.
Or maybe a small gift card for a coffee, an hour pass to rock climb, a gym, or outdoor training course.
Hope it helps!

This is the best coffee maker I've ever used. They're called Moka pots, or Stove top Espresso makers. It unscrews into three parts, you fill the bottom to the line with water you put in a little basket full of coffee, and screw in the top.
Put it on the stove and the boiling water is forced up and through the coffee into the top part. The resulting coffee is thick strong and beautiful, I normally drink it with just a little sugar.
I bought one for myself in college, all you need is access to a stove. If you can't use a stove they also have this version here or here that you can plug straight into the wall.
It looks like the replacement baskets are under $10 so would defiantly be the cheapest route. On the other hand if you are looking for a reason to try something new you may be interested in an Aeropress they are around $25 and produce a strong coffee similar to steam driven espresso machines or Moka pots. If you do decide to look at espresso machines check out the Gaggia Classic it is the least expensive machine I would recommend and can be found on sale around $350.
I read the description which is why I asked, it does not say if it does or doesn't.
Folks on the amazon listing claim it does in the quesitons and in the reviews so I'll check it out the next time I'm at ikea. Thanks!

starsGreat SS Pot for the price!
April 12, 2015
this is a review for those who like Moka pots.
Reasons for the 5 stars
Great price(If you buy it directly from the ikea store, costs only 20$)
Stainless steel, every part of it including the filter and funnel
Silicon gasket, better than rubber ones
Induction ready, makes coffee in 3- 4 minutes. I find this as the fastest and easiest method to make coffee for this. I have a few other Moka pots that are stainless steel, but none of the works on induction as they are 18/10 SS.
The only one i would want to pay more price is the Brikka, as its a different product, though i don't own one,
The only disadvantage is you have to make 6 espresso cups at a time. I wish Ikea comes with different capacities like the Bialetti.
My opinion is simple is best. No one I know with the expensive machines with timers etc. uses them. The coffee they make isn’t any better.
Over the years we have bought many fancy coffee makers. This one makes the best coffee https://www.amazon.com/Chemex-Classic-Pour-over-Glass-Coffeemaker/dp/B0000YWF5E
For espresso and cappuccino you want this https://www.amazon.ca/GROSCHE-Milano-Stovetop-Espresso-Maker/dp/B07KGCYBWH and this https://www.amazon.ca/Cremafacile-cappucino-frother-Biesse-assorted/dp/B002U7F00G
My SO got me this beauty. 99 bucks! That's under 100! It's stainless, it hasn't leaked in the slightest (yet), and it came with a bonus gasket. The thing is built like a brick shit house and I love it.
EDIT: I should add that although it's a 6-cup size, it has a spacer that allows you to make 3-cups as well!
This all metal MokaPot is the one I’ve had good success with.
I use a stovetop espresso maker It will set you back about $30 for a good one. It might not be perfect for the elite connoisseur, but I think it works pretty damn good.
Consider a Bialetti moka pot.
It doesn't provide 1L of coffee, but the coffee is much richer (like espresso), so perhaps not as much volume is needed.
Something like this: http://www.amazon.it/Bialetti-Elettrika-elettrica-viaggio-110-230/dp/B002EWANQS
It's not on par on normal mokas but most of the time it's a better choice then the one in a cheap hotel.
On the plus side you can have hot coffe without having to get up from bed.
I use an electric Moka pot, it has been a life saver and I carry it easily every time I move.
I bought it for about 10€ in some second hand shop, linking it below:
Delonghi Alicia Espresso Moka
The Delonghi one works fine. It's nice for the office too if you don't have a hot water source.
Alicia Moka Pot
I do use a Moka pot on induction (but I don't call this an espresso). I use this one and I very much like it: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B078SDTG7F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . It's $49.
maybe something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Delonghi-EMK6-Alicia-Electric-Espresso/dp/B00009W5F0/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1408666963&sr=1-1&keywords=electric+moka+pot
Disclaimer: Have never used an electric moka pot (just my stovetop 3 cup)
This is just the first model I found googling it, I'm sure there's cheaper out there, but you can get a moka pot that plugs into the wall if you really want to use a moka pot at work.

> Bialetti ELETTRIKA
This is sold & shipped by Amazon and, IIRC, Amazon always offers international shipping. Does it deliver to your country?
I was just in Italy and got three of the bialetti ones . They were super hard to find since I think they discontinued it in 2007 but we managed to get them for just 17 euros. If you get your technique down the espresso is decent.
Get a French press or a moka pot if you want espresso. Both super easy and take minimal counter/cupboard space and they make coffee as good if not better than a machine.
Keurigs are BAD and anyone who says otherwise is a poor.
Was it an electric moka pot in this vein? http://www.amazon.com/Delonghi-EMK6-Alicia-Electric-Espresso/dp/B00009W5F0
I've had a stove top one forever, and I bought an electric one for someone - gets less used now because there's four machines at work though
I got mine on offer up. They're uncommon there in my area though.

P.S. coffee made with a moka isn't espresso (but still damn good in its own way).
Chanced upon this months ago when I was trying to buy a stovetop espresso maker! Check the Bialetti Mini Express out!

FWIW, it's this guy. Before, I mainly used my 9-cup moka pot. I'll probably use them together.
Come, be instructed at the veil: http://www.amazon.com/Bialetti-Moka-Elettrika-Electric/dp/B002EWANQS/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458997276&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=bialleti+electrica
Try a giant moka pot, that way you can do it on a campfire.

Delonghi EMK6 Alicia Electric Moka Espresso Coffee Maker
This combines the two. There is even a 3-cup filter adapter to scale down the amount of coffee you brew.
I got myself an Electric espresso maker set with a timer 5 minutes before my alarm clock. Always up with a fresh brew and I can set the timer to autostop in case I forget.
For the lazy

I've been using this Moka pot for a couple weeks now. I've been using Lavazza Rossa ground coffee and I've been consistently gotten a really bitter brew without any character. Is this simply how it's supposed to taste, or could this be because of my brewing method?
I haven't been packing the beans, I believe I'm using the right amount of water, and I'm not scrubbing the pot at all, only rinsing it out with water after each use.
