Messages between me and heath05

> [–]from heath05 sent 3 months ago
> Hi, I'm trying to model a couple of SCAR muzzles for the Alpha Kit and Caliburn barrel. It seems like you have a lot more experience with this than I do, so I have a couple of question that you'll be kind enough to answer.
> 1.Is there a preferable length?
> 2.With 6 threads, what would be the optimal twist rate?
> I drafted two variations so far, one that uses traditional hand tightened strings and one where the threads meant to be printed with the muzzle.
>
>[–]to heath05 sent 3 months ago
> 1) The part where the dart touches the strings within the barrel should be between 6-8 inches.
> 2) The most twist you add, the more the strings will slow down the dart; but possibly add more precision. I tend to go from string point to string point (i hope that makes sense, write back if it doesn't). I feel that is the optimal twist rate. Oh yeah, if you are right-handed the twist needs to be clockwise; if you are left-handed then you are weird and the twist needs to be counter-clockwise. That is for sight aiming purpose more than anything. I feel like the string barrel work better because as the dart travels down the barrel, the strings flex out of the path of the dart while still guiding it. With printed rifling, the rigid guide just centers the dart with air escaping around it. That's my theory, anyway. Try it out and see if I am wrong. I've been wrong before, once (it was a Tuesday).
>
> [–]from heath05 sent 3 months ago
> 6-8 inches? Wow that sounds like an entire barrel. I was trying to make one of those muzzle piece attachment. I want to do a printed thread for the simplicity of it, tightening the strings has proven to be a pain. I'll have to copy borrow inspiration from Blastertech. http://imgur.com/a/jkNUR
>
> [–]to heath05 sent 3 months ago
> You might be able to get away with 4 inches, but I recommend 6 inches. I suggest trying the 3d printed one and comparing it to a string one. That way you can tell me, if my theory is bullshit or not. I think it will work just fine on most darts. I just think theorize that you stand to lose more velocity that way.
>
> [–]from heath05 sent 3 months ago
> what strings do you use btw. I was planning to use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AS8XOM/ Too thick?

Too late...https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/146680423173455872/342910579138232330/DSC_0047.jpg 100mm, .5625 ID Tested prototype darts so far, and there is improvement in stability. I don't know fps penalty until I run it through a chrony tomorrow.

The end product turned out pretty good, in my opinion. And the results are very impressive.

I asked if heath05 he would sell those, and he said he will not sell them; but that he will release the files to the public.

Doodle groomer here. If you grab a comb, 1in pins, medium, not a coarse, and put the pins directly to the skin, you can find the mats if there is any.
With slicker brushes, 1in pins again are very beneficial, gentle and effective.
Resco Ergonomic Dog, Horse, Cat, Pet Grooming Comb https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NPQY1A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CuKRCb6YK1DA8
Here is my favorite doodle brush, with medium distance between pins (not a coarse one like most are).
Big K slicker, medium (size)
Chris Christensen Big K Slicker, Medium, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KAKHWB0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8pKRCbEPS92PR
I modify its pins to have 150° at the angle closer to the tip to make it the most gentle brush out there.
For my comfort, I add a leather tennis grip to suit my large chick hands so I can get a good grip and avoid sweats. 🤠
Gamma Sports Tennis Racquet Leather Replacement Grip https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000N26HEI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_esKRCbYWQ57G3
That's my magic as for the equipments. I groom doods exclusively and they all move freely on my table. No loops, no harnesses, no muzzles. They want to stay when they are comfy and this set will get you exactly there. 🤗
Belly rubs! 😃

For serious training, adding weight to your racket is indeed a good idea. Most people buy training rackets like this though. 3x8 swings is far too few though, a typical set would be more like 20x20.

For strength training it is also possible to use ankle weights, but be careful - due to the many jumps and fast changes of directions of regular badminton already, this can lead to injuries. Consult your doctor and make sure to do plenty of strength and core training before you attempt this.

(I'm coming from /r/badminton to answer the serious questions here - and this one. Badminton is a great way to apply your speed and strength!)

Gloves are usually used when playing with the small ball. It's what used in high school games for PSAL and some tournaments around the city. https://www.ushandball.org/index.php/shop/product/1-usha-21-handballs.

Red is for men, white is for women. For the big blue skybounce balls that most people play with, you don't need a glove unless you play so much that your hand looks like a package of hot dogs. You can get handball gloves at dicks or a place like that.

With that said, I sometimes have used gloves with the big blue for the following reasons:

1- after it rained and the court was still wet. Gives better control over a slightly wet ball and is also more sanitary lol.

2- the deerskin gloves I had added an extra layer of friction that helped add hook to my serve.

3- if I had a cut, which always happened on the pad of my thumb.

This looks familiar to what I had

I think it really depends on your preferences. I like a thicker handle on my swords so I'll have a foam underwrap and then use a microfiber towel over that. My hands get pretty sweaty while training so towel grips work best for me.
Here's an amazon link

Though, some people find that those grips can get too thick so they prefer something thinner like tennis wrap.

Luckily, they're all not too expensive so try a few and find what works for you. Lastly, remember when wrapping, start from the base of the sword.

u/pope_fundy · 2 pointsr/racquetball

You can get something like this. They're unwieldy and kind of goofy-looking, but effective.

The best thing is prescription safety glasses, but you won't want to shell out for those if you're just trying it out.

u/bacoes · 3 pointsr/squash

Personally, I really like the way Xamsa does it. All the facts and figures are out in the open, prices are right.

You've asked for opinions and honestly your whole site kinda seems like a high school business class project. There's not a lot of actual info on the site, just a lot of soundbites that mimic what every other small squash startup says. There aren't very good photos of anything, the site layout is clearly a generic template only minimally filled out. No idea what continent you're located on. MSRP is wildly optimistic for what appears to be another generic version of a Carboflex.

Here's an established paddlesport company with the same thing.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0777NMCJZ/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=A39X2Z5XMJOG3J&psc=1

Or if direct from China.

If you really want to get off the ground, I'd advise you to put effort into the webpage with more concrete info, like where you are. Get some of the people who are using the racquet to offer a review, preferably on video. Send out play-test samples to a third party who can give input.

Those goggles are the best I've used and never have fogged up on me. I've seen others here suggest cheap construction safety glasses. If that works for you go for it as it is cheaper for sure but for me they alway fog and I play without which is stupid. I finally just bought these and they are amazing. Don't be dumb like me. Just skip to the finish line.

u/Seascan · 2 pointsr/badminton

The Senston N80 rackets on Amazon are a pretty great value imo. They're not $20 heavy steel trash like you'd find in a local store. I got two for guests and I end up playing with it a lot over my $100 Yonex Voltric 7. I like the lighter head sometimes.

u/microthorpe · 1 pointr/running

I probably mentioned it somewhere else, but I use an older version of these racquetball glasses. Like anything else, they will sometimes fog up from sweat while I'm protected from the wind, so I just tuck them in a pocket or hook them under a pack strap until I need them again. I'm sure there are better ones out there with more fog-resistant lenses.

u/eileensariot · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Icebreaker merino wool. Do you have any? It is amazing. My husband swears by it. Apparently it doesn't stink. I can smell everything though ;)

These shorts would greatly improve my way of life. Now that it's warmer, I found that have I less workout shorts than I thought. I cannot work out in pants. it's miserable. They are a bit pricy though.

this tank top is a bit less ;)

Also, nice portable toilet. I got a kick out of that! Here you go!

u/ba4x · 1 pointr/tennis

I recently bought this one from amazon. It's labeled as a Kuanyu, but I believe it is the same piece sold by Eagnas as the PP600.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JD4CDKI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not a bad deal. It's very strong and leaves marks on my gut string even when using it gently. But that's fine with me.

u/jrstriker12 · 1 pointr/tennis

I'm assuming ballport = ball hopper/ ball bucket?

This is the ball hopper I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MKQ23W/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_3?pf_rd_p=1535523722&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0019F03MK&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0S45BQRV0SH9NWD8H488

Very durable since it's metal and it make is easy to pick up balls.

In terms of practice, it's great for doing serve practice or drills off of ball feeds.

Overall I tend to practice more without the ball hopper as I tend to hit around or play games with my hitting partner.

But the times when you want to get a lot of repetitions within a short time frame, the ball hopper is invaluable.

As far as balls. I just tend to use Penn Championship extra duty. I can pick up a box of 20 cans from Costco really cheap. I usually open half and put it into the hopper then just add balls from practice sessions and matches.

u/justhavingfunyea · 1 pointr/tennis

I started playing last year in August and have been playing quite a bit. I bought this racquet from a local tennis shop. A guy I was hitting with added some lead tape in various places to make it heavier. https://www.amazon.com/Wilson-Performance-Tennis-Racquet-Lightweight/dp/B0765CR73W

I feel I need a second racquet to have. I am playing 3-4 days a week. Still pretty inconsistent with it. I might be a 3.0 by now, but not sure.

I am 6 ft tall and 180 lbs. I move well on the court and can run down balls. My arms are decently long.

Any suggestions for a racquet? I am mostly playing doubles now but want to play more singles. I am looking at getting some demo racquets sent to me and trying some things.

Should I get a heavier racquet? Also, if it matters, I am primarily playing on Tru-Clay.

u/Azaex · 2 pointsr/NFA

Yes it fits in there without the can. Just barely. Bear in mind my receiver extension is a little longer than normal since it's an A5 (the position you see here is the sba3 fully collapsed), and I have a 11.5" barrel. It will actually fit in there with a 20rnd mag seated.

There is a front zipper pocket there as well that perfectly fits a mag.

As a tennis player something like this seems like it would work super well. I haven't personally tried it seeing that I don't suffer from hand salsa when smashing.

Buy them from amazon here.

The starter racquets are the "bent-frame" kind... just a straight piece of material formed into a head shape. Most of the time, those racquets end up bending and leaning to one side and are pretty much worthless. A midlevel head i.165 (http://www.racquetballwarehouse.com/descpage.html?PCODE=I165) or a used KM 750 (http://www.racquetballwarehouse.com/useddescpage.html?pcode=PK15750) or even a Gearbox GB50 (http://www.amazon.com/Gearbox-GB-50-Racquetball-Racquet/dp/B00GNMJ0UU?ie=UTF8&keywords=Gearbox%20racquetball&qid=1463611541&ref_=sr_1_12&sr=8-12) will be a million times better and will last you several years. I know A-level people that still play effectively with those racquets (minus the GB50, but that's still a solid starter racquet).

Bumming balls or using what's left after others play is doable if that's an option, or you can just go to walmart and pick up a can of anything (purple and ektelon fire (http://www.amazon.com/Ektelon-Fireball-Racquetballs-Red-ball/dp/B001E6L9XQ/ref=sr_1_5?s=racquet-sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1463611831&sr=1-5&keywords=ektelon+balls) tend to be the preferred tournament balls depending on where you live, but that might not matter to you).

As others have said, a cheap pair of safety glasses is a must, and decent ones simply aren't that expensive (http://www.amazon.com/Ektelon-Mirage-II-Racquetball-Eyewear/dp/B000ETVJSE/ref=sr_1_3?s=racquet-sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1463611766&sr=1-3&keywords=racquetball+glasses).
