For some reason this didn't show up the first time I posted, so sorry if it shows up twice :-)

1

2 (Snow is kind of reminiscent of rain)

3 (food related because I would serve hot meals on it; unusual because it is multifunctional)

4 is for my two year old daughter because she has the normal version, but loves it so much (probably her favorite thing) that it is now in three pieces with the cover off and losing pages every day, but this one has a carry handle and is smaller for toddlers and easier to carry around.

5 You need to read it because I've been told I need to read it.

6

7 because Catwoman

8 The picture of beauty! :-)

9 Because it's a classic. . . it's sweet, has adventure, and teamwork. . . dinosaurs.

10 because it's a sword that I will always have with me because it's a keychain

11 I'm on my 4th week of P90x, and I hate yoga day because I can't do all the moves, so I don't have the desire to do it, but this would help on moves where I am not as flexible.

12 I want these so I can make necklaces with them.

13 Because it has a swingset and a playhouse and my daughter (and when he's older, my son too) would love this, and I love them very much. So seeing them happy makes me happy :-).

14

15 seeds are much smaller than golfballs

16 Nothing smells as good as a freshly bathed baby :-)

17

18 I could practice my letters and spelling (as long as each letter was only used once) :-)

19 My current obsession is being a mom! All of my other obsessions are geeky stuff, so this is perfect!

20 I know this really needs no explanation as to why it is so grand and awe-inspiring, but here are 10 good reasons. . . First of all, it's huge because it's a rug. Second of all, it is from one of the greatest movies of all time, Star Wars Episode V. Third, it looks sooooo soft (it's so fluffy, I'm going to die). Fourth, how many people do you know who have this in their home? Fifth, it has claws. Sixth, it's smiling. Seventh, you could hide under it during a home invasion. Eighth, you could cover up with it if your power went out in a snowstorm. Ninth, (since you love cats) I bet cats love laying on a wampa rug. Finally tenth, it would be the perfect addition to this boy's nursery (I've shown this picture a lot on RAoA, but I can't help it. He's too cute!)

Bonus Item 1 will be PMd to you when I found out your real name, not if but when :-)

Bonus Item 2 Looks yummy!

fear cuts deeper than swords

This was super fun by the way! Thanks!

I would recommend [Auralex] (http://www.amazon.com/Auralex-Studiofoam-Inches-Wedgies-Charcoal/dp/B0002D05KA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396896193&sr=8-1&keywords=acoustic+foam) if you don't have a tight budget.... but if you do, I'd go with [this kind] (http://www.amazon.com/2x12x12-BURGUNDY-CHARCOAL-Acoustic-Soundproofing/dp/B00ATP5KF6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1396896193&sr=8-2&keywords=acoustic+foam). I have both types in my set up and they work quite wonderfully together. The colors are nice accents as well!

Also, you will want to pull your table out from the wall a bit... and make sure you have the monitor tweeters at an equilateral triangle with your ears!

Somewhere down the line you can invest in bass traps as well. [Here are some yoga blocks as well] (http://www.amazon.com/YogaAccessories-TM-Foam-Yoga-Brick/dp/B000OFBC12/ref=sr_1_7?s=exercise-and-fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1396896353&sr=1-7&keywords=yoga+block). Just make sure they will adequately support your monitors (aka being large enough).

If you have any questions, pm me whenever.

I think it's just a weird request, which is why it was difficult to get an answer. Most people don't put subwoofers on their desk, so size never really matters. Since size never really matters, subwoofers aren't exactly small. The LS50 doesn't have a ton of bass because if it tried, it will distort everything else. The homepod, on the other hand, boosts the bass and just skimps out on the midrange. The LS50 tries to sound more natural.

Anyways, you're going to run into some other problems with the sub on your desk. It will most likely vibrate everything on there. You want to make sure that this doesn't happen. First, get some rubber feet for the bottom of the subwoofer. Under that, go to your local Home Depot or Lowes or whatever, and get a slab of marble. A thicc one, that doesn't make any sound when you hit it with your knuckles. Put that under the subwoofer. Under that, you'll want some foam so the marble doesn't rattle against the table. Get some foam like this. You can cut it in half if it'll be too tall. Put that under the marble, and you'll be good. This all sounds like a lot, but trust me. Having a subwoofer on a desk is going to cause a lot of vibrations.

I also forgot about the Sunfire HRS-8. It is a 10" cube, which hopefully could fit on your desk. The REL is 8.5w x 9.5h x 10.5d inches, which would probably fit on your desk easier, but I'll throw in the Sunfire just in case.

These may not be obviously martial arts related, but! Part of getting myself back into shape and working my flexibility back to where I can join one of my friends in martial arts requires much yoga (since I'm on low-impact sports until cleared by the doctor otherwise).

That being said: here is my drawing: my favorite character who uses a naginata; which is what I hope to be practicing soon. :D

u/abovetheignorance · 1 pointr/GroupSit

I have been using the Hugger Mugger Zafu cushion since last summer and I absolutely love it. I too started with a folded up yoga mat, but my leg(s) would almost always fall asleep within the first fifteen minutes.

The Zafu cushion is so much more comfortable. The improved support makes it so much easier to keep my center of weight in line with my tailbone and keep from slouching forward over time. I place my Zafu on top of a yoga mat for the sake of my ankles on the hardwood floor, and I never have any physical discomfort anymore, at least with a 20-30 minute sit. It also has a small zipper hidden under the cloth handle which you can use to adjust the amount of hulls inside (I removed some from mine to lower the height slightly), or dump the hulls out so you can wash it.

In conclusion, I can't recommend it enough! The materials and construction are very durable. Take good care of it and I bet that it will last you a lifetime.

u/adragonisnoslave · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Aww babes, I'm so sorry!! Well I started my day off teaching, which is always awesome. It was rainy so I didn't think anyone would show up but NINE people did, including two new guys! They also were clearly unprepared and believed yoga was easy, so I enjoyed watching them get their butts kicked... Mean, I know, but oh well =P I took my test and while I didn't do GREAT, I did all right. I went to the mall and bought a strapless bra and some new Mac lipstick and ugh it's so pretty <3

I want this! Having a 2nd yoga block really increase the modifications and poses I can practice at home and thus bring into my teaching :)

u/apple_cores · 2 pointsr/xxfitness

Happy Birthday!

I literally just opened my amazon order before reading this. I got these yoga blocks and strap. Price is awesome for 2 blocks and strap. Can't ask for more. And this 12lb double handle medicine ball. I haven't used it yet but I love how it feels. Also price is great compared to other sellers. Gonna get a yoga wheel next.

Protein powder-wise, I've only ever tried this one in chocolate and hated it. I tried it plain with just water and then tried to make a shake with banana, peanut butter, etc and I couldn't finish it for anything. Just disgusting and I'm not a picky eater. hate the texture. This is the only protein powder I've ever tried though so grain of salt and all. Hope you get some good stuff!

u/JoshHinderShit · 1 pointr/BudgetAudiophile

I appreciate the advice. I'll definitely make sure to do that and play around with positioning. I completely forgot about needing speaker stands. I have a pair of wooden TV trays like this- https://target.scene7.com/is/image/Target/11053804?wid=520&hei=520&fmt=pjpeg

And I can also afford to buy a pair of Yoga blocks like these to place underneath the speakers- https://www.amazon.com/Reehut-1-PC-Yoga-Block-Flexibility/dp/B01LW50A1L/ref=sr_1_1?s=exercise-and-fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1501115832&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=yoga%2Bblocks&th=1&psc=1

I can also get this stuff and place it at the bottom of both speakers- https://www.amazon.com/Sponge-Neoprene-Thick-CLEVERBRAND-INC/dp/B01GWD5WOW

I know it's not ideal, but with all of that do you think it will work just fine? Or is there a better solution with different materials you would recommend? Maybe placing something underneath the tray?

I saw this reviewer from NO Audiophile used a lot of miscellaneous materials to raise his speakers- http://noaudiophile.com/JBL_LSR305/JBL_LSR_305_Desk.jpg

So maybe it's not so bad?

u/brazen8 · 3 pointsr/BudgetAudiophile

Upvote for Meddle! YNWA!!

After you get those speakers up off the desk, like u/sharkamino says, get a better cartridge for turntable. I'd recommend the Nagaoka MP-110. It's a great cart for the money. Very detailed and a little bit warm. It's available on Amazon for about $120. You'll be stoked listening to Pink Floyd with it.

Impressions?

Cheap (0,30 bucks), but effective.

This is my second stand for my m40x after the boom of threads showing the luxurious or pretty damn cheap headphone stand as part of a meme in this community.
I want to imply that it not nessesary to have one of these but you can also look for other options like zeos with his yoga blocks and stay cool without deform the headphone's shape.

u/TXBRGuy · 1 pointr/headphones

It's mostly personal preference I think it looks pretty cool to have them displayed on something when not I use.

Something very good and cheap you can use is yoga blocks. You can pick up 2 for $10.

You can stand them with the longest side vertical and use the thinner width to just hold your headphones or the wider 6in width if your cans have too much clamp and you want a safe way to stretch them a bit.

EDIT: formatting

This is actually what you want - cheap (budget) yoga blocks! I have four of these under mine:

REEHUT (2-PC Yoga Blocks, 9"x6"x4" - High Density EVA Foam Blocks to Support and Deepen Poses, Improve Strength and Aid Balance and Flexibility - Lightweight, Odor Resistant(Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LW50A1L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8jZQDbMGC8BHF

u/ZeosPantera · 1 pointr/Zeos

I usually just buy these Foam Blocks for my headphones. Depending on what headphones they can fit perfectly and dent instead of wrecking the headphones.

u/ophelia917 · 3 pointsr/ChronicPain

Find a good bolster for under your knees. Something like they'd use when you get a massage. I just use a yoga bolster since I had one already. I put links in for reference...non-affiliate.

Depending on the day, placement varies, sometimes I have to put it higher up (so it's almost under my hips) & some days it's just right under my knees themselves.

For side sleeping, something like this is supposed to help. I refuse to buy something so silly and have used very firm pillows with varying degrees of success. I used to be a 100% side sleeping but, I really just can't do it anymore.

FWIW, I have a jacked up left SI joint with pain that sounds very similar to yours. I just had a nerve ablation yesterday after a year+ of conservative treatment. I posted about it the night before last if you wanna read anything about it to verify.

I have a back brace as well. I lovingly refer to it as my turtle shell since it goes from literally under my boobs to just above my crotch and is hardshell. It's like a corset. People see it and think it's a medieval torture device but it's so helpful. I use it when the joint is so bothered and my back muscles are so exhausted that they start spasming. However, I couldn't imagine trying to sleep in the thing. The purpose of mine is to give support vertically to give my muscles a chance to chill the hell out. Using it for TOO long defeats the purpose of PT, which is building core strength, since it's letting the muscles be lazy. I usually only wear it if I'm having a really hard day or if I'm traveling.

TL;DR - yeah...sorry 'bout that. :)

u/bkkgnar · 7 pointsr/audioengineering

Cool idea! I've heard that these work really well for slightly more expensive solution.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/Buddhism

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C9PGE4

This is what I just got, before I had just folded up a pillow, after getting this though, I find I am much more excited about meditating. It is rather expensive, but in my opinion, was well worth it.

u/fspmarshall · 1 pointr/audiophile

And if you want a more 'natural' look, these Yoga Blocks are made from cork; pretty nice looking to my taste. Could probably even be stained to specific shades.

u/YakumoFuji · 3 pointsr/Buddhism

I have myself a hugger mugger zafu from amazon and it is fantastic.

u/mike_stifle · 3 pointsr/synthesizers

Buy these, only 12 bucks and your monitors and ears will love you for it.

u/neodiogenes · 2 pointsr/yoga

The ones I've used most are (I believe) the Hugger Mugger standard. I prefer the shape and the firmness of these bolsters to any other (although most are just fine, these are slightly better). They aren't cheap, but apparently they do have washable covers. I'm sure the Manduka variety is just as good, but I'm not sure about the "Yoga Accessories" version. At half the price of the others, you have to imagine they cut some corners.

As for durability, they do seem to last forever (or at least five years), class after class, although I may not know about the ones that break and have to be secretly thrown away.

u/crod242 · 2 pointsr/minimalism

I sat on a standard zafu for a long time before switching to this v-shaped cushion, and I would never go back. It allows for a much more comfortable position, especially if you sit Burmese.

u/NascentBehavior · 1 pointr/DJs

These foam 'yoga blocks' work for a 4" rise for $10 - friend of mine uses them for raising his computer monitor so I thought they could work here too.

u/sportsziggy · 1 pointr/woodworking

That foam does not seem thick enough to do a good enough job IIRC.

Something like these from Amazon should do the trick. I know people use them for studio monitors (look at the first review) but it should work the same.

u/staomeel · 3 pointsr/headphones

You might try these yoga blocks for sound isolation pads. They are easy to mod to fit different specs.

u/flKV02PfSQ · 2 pointsr/CCW

T-shirts are fine, they're all I wear. You just have to get the holster oriented correctly so that it's not pressing outward against the t-shirt, and is instead softly pressing into you so that the shirt drapes over it inconspicuously. I can't see what's going on under the shirt in those pictures, but it looks like there are two "hot spots" where the gun is printing—one at the base of the grip, and one at the rear of the slide. I have two recommendations:

First, the Vedder Light Tuck is available with and without a "claw" attachment. Again, I can't see under the shirt, but I'm guessing because of the way the base of the grip is poking out that you aren't using the claw. They sell them as an add-on kit for 9 bucks (https://www.vedderholsters.com/claw/), so I think it's worth it to check that box.

The bigger problem, though, is that it looks like the whole gun is allowed to tilt outboard; if you look under that shirt, I bet you'll see that whereas the muzzle end of the gun is touching you, there's a gap between your belly and the top of the gun, or at least there's more pressure against you at the muzzle end than at the top. That's the opposite of what you want for concealment purposes—the more the gun tilts out at the top, the more it presses outward on your shirt and looks obvious.

Since you're a leaner guy, you might find that the wedge kit sold by JM Custom Kydex (https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/NSWK.html) is the right size for tilting things back in a good direction.

I'm heavier than you and found that I needed a different solution with more material than that, so "the yoga block mod" (https://youtu.be/E4HD4J37u6I) that Scott Jedlinski advocates was necessary. The idea is that you get a big block of foam (any relatively dense foam will do but here's a link: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Foam-Yoga-Blocks-Inches/dp/B01FN7X7KE/) and sculpt it down until it fits the shape of your body and orients the gun perfectly for concealment. It's a touch more work, but it obviously tends to yield better results because it's a completely custom solution that you build for your exact body, sort of like tailoring your clothing.

u/golftangodelta · 1 pointr/WeAreTheMusicMakers

Whatever you buy, don't waste your money on expensive isolation stands. Buy Yoga Blocks at Amazon instead. They don't cost much and do a great job of isolating speaker vibration. Read the product reviews on the Amazon page -- a few people mentioned speaker isolation.

u/191h4h8rhfGU8r73f3jF · 2 pointsr/yoga

Wood blocks are the best, but here's a set for under $15:
http://www.amazon.com/Nu-Source-Block-2-Piece-Purple-4-Inch/dp/B002WCDR72/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418074697&sr=8-1&keywords=yoga+blocks

Books will slip and it'll be hard to get them even plus it's paramount that they are even or you're most likely going to be off alignment and probably do more damage than good.

If you can, I would get in a classes before you self practice. Most teachers are very approachable if you let them know what you're looking to learn they'll give you one-on-one in your class. I always ask for adjustments!

u/sovereign_self · 1 pointr/Meditation

/u/jakta, A stack of towels can work for what kirkirus is saying. You can also make or purchase a zafu which is a cushion filled with buckwheat, which is firm without being hard.

u/ranterbach · 5 pointsr/audiophile

Just a suggestion, these yoga blocks make decent isolating somewhat shock-absorbing stands.

u/ocinn · 1 pointr/audiophile

That's super cool you got them for free and fixed them.

I hate to say this, because they don't do anything for isolation, and I don't agree with the guy who came up with the technique, but, you can use yoga blocks to get them to ear level. I would put sorbothane hemispheres under the speakers, where the yoga blocks touch.

u/mlph · 3 pointsr/audiophile

If you don't care about aesthetics that much, you could use Yoga Blocks which are relatively cheap and from what I read, a good alternative. They are similar to MOPAD isolation pads.

EDIT: A couple more alternatives -

DIY Cinderblock Stands

DIY Rob's Stands

DIY TNT Stubby

DIY Video Stands

The sound can transmit through the concrete and to your table, in effect making your table into a surface that can transmit sound.

Yoga Blocks can serve as cheap monitor stands. Might need some large blocks for the 8'' monitors though.

u/crimsonking7383 · 1 pointr/hondafit

I hate how low my center console is, but I bought one of these to fix it.

Like everyone else is saying, it won't help much for soundproofing, but if you still want to try it, just cut up some yoga blocks. I have them under my 2x 18" subs. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Yoga-Blocks-Set-Black/dp/B01FN7X7KE/ref=sr_1_4_acs_sk_pb_2_sl?s=exercise-and-fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1540925124&sr=1-4-acs&keywords=yoga+block
