I couldn't say, but some do. The tone rings for some Chryslers (300, Magnum) are entirely made of rubber with no metal at all (there is some kind of powder or something embedded, turning it into something like a credit card mag stripe), while some Toyotas (Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner..) have a normal looking metal one with some sort of rubber insert; example part: https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Encoding-213132ABS-Chrylser-Challenger/dp/B078X1SLFF

It's the correct part number and matches multiple years as the only part available for that vehicle. I can't tell if that end looks right though. Look at the pics of this one on amazon . they have a good pic of the ends and you can blow it up. Does it match the part you have?

These are what you're talking about, the reviews pretty much sum up my experiences with them. I much prefer replacing the whole shaft and boot with a reman.

If you decide to go with a split boot you're going to need the banding tool to tighten the bands, don't attempt to tighten the boots without one, it wont work very well.

They are paying less than this for the first part:

...and less than this for the second:

FYI

I am not ashamed that I have one of those Dorman quick boots on my car. Getting these CV bands instead of the ones provided was so much better.

I’m guessing that’s your passenger side and here’s a listing off of Amazon for an example. Labor is going to cost a lot more than the part as usual, it could be as much as $200 depending if they find something else wrong. If you budgeted $400 you should be OK, assuming you aren’t going to the dealer.

Basically this, with ducting going to the intake heat shield.

You are mostly paying for labor so at 80k miles I think you should just have them replace the entire CV axle assemblies while they are at it. You can get these http://www.amazon.com/HO23552356-front-Left-Right-Pair/dp/B00K5AZIFC/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1408534076&vehicle=2006-59-2793------------003-0&sr=1-2&ymm=2006%3Ahonda%3Aridgeline produced by a qs9000 certified facility for about $175.00 shipped.

The EMPI is cheaper than the ToughOne! I might get that....

Or O'Reilly's. No more Advance axles though!

u/ZippyTheChicken · 1 pointr/MechanicAdvice

that scared the crap out of me $500 for a 84 mercedes axle

https://www.amazon.com/Heri-76080-New-CV-Axle/dp/B00TO0EQJ8

$75

or $63.99 from Pepboys... i would probably go to pepboys if you have one close rather than off amazon..

and double check the fit

gees $500 heh
